Official Foo Fighters shirt highlights Arcata, benefits indie venues

In the latest episode of Humboldt Last Week

One of those bands that formed in the 90s and is still super relevant in the music industry today, Foo Fighters have a T-shirt available in honor of one of their first shows ever, at the Jambalaya in Arcata. It’s green. Glow in the dark. There’s an alien. And on the back it says: “February 23, 1995 at Jambalaya Club in Arcata, California.” All proceeds benefit the National Independent Venue Association.

Here’s more on that night from NME.

None of yall were there. I was however and it sucked to be very nice about it. All the bands that night were suckin but that was a fun time in arcata. A good time to be on the scene. Now fast forward to now and its a cess pool of extremisms and stupidisms i doubt they would of even chosen to play in todays arcata if it was done again during this time period. Arcata isnt cool anymore.

Um, were you actually there? I doubt it and I really was there. Tell me one other band was there. And while you’re reminiscing, tell me why the Foo Fighters played in Arcata at all.

I wonder if the bands name says it all about the gentleman above as you should look up fooey or german pronounced phooey and see if it sticks.

Ed Pierce was the drummer in the band that was playing there that night. They were local. Foo Fighters were recording at Bert Pectals studio n Redwood Valley.

Ha. it was a band called Track Star, fronted by my high school bud Wyatt Cusack. Can’t remember the local band – Unseen? – Track Star was from SF.
