Three Additional Cases Reported Today, August 27
Press release from Humboldt County COVID19 – Joint Information Center:
Three new cases of COVID-19 were reported today, bringing to 364 the total number of county residents who have tested positive for the virus.
Humboldt County Deputy Health Officer Dr. Josh Ennis noted that demographic data on the county’s known cases demonstrates that there are disproportionate impacts to the Latino and Hispanic community and, as we’ve seen more recently, to Native Americans.
“It’s important to point out that this is not due to any increased risk-taking activity or lack of adherence to safety measures,” Dr. Ennis said. “People working on the front lines in service and agricultural sectors, for example, may have more workplace exposures to the general public or co-workers. Public Health and our response partners continue to work with our entire community to limit spread of this virus, especially in groups that are at greater risk of contracting COVID-19.”
Ennis went on to say Public Health is partnering with LatinoNet, Centro del Pueblo and the Humboldt County Office of Education to host a Virtual Town Hall on Monday, Aug. 31, from 6-7:30 p.m. to address concerns of the Spanish-speaking community. Damn I wasn’t going to post but bed can wait. The US is beginning to go into a downturn and if we can continue this rate we’ll be down to 20,000 cases a day, a big improvement. But one shouldn’t look at a local area, state or even country. when you have a virus that is using the whole world for a playing field, you have to look at the whole playing field, and what is happening across the globe is troubling.
Right now the other Americas, India and much of Europe are experiencing serious surges. India and the Americas their first wave, Europe it’s second. Unlike what happens in Vegas, what happens covid wise doesn’t stay anywhere. It keeps on moving, just like this summers spread from the south and west into the midwest, and that’s what’s bothering the experts.
Scientists were praying that there would be a summer downturn in the Northern Hemisphere but it didn’t happen. Instead The US led the way with a second wave worse than the first in many respects, and we are about to enter flu season, where the climate could be more conducive to spread. If Humboldt County has been spared the worst of the pandemic, count our blessings. it’s still an active fight to stop the spread until the vaccine arrives, though that may not be a silver bullet. Only time will tell

Is colder weather better for covid or worse. Less people out in stormy weather, and people are more buddled up and less likely to hang out and chit chat. People don’t schedule events during winter, so common sense would tell one that winter isn’t any more conducive than summer. As usual, pretty simple, just like every month that goes by Humboldt is pointing to the fact that it was here last year. How many of our cases are residents that were here before summer of 19. But who cares ,I don’t, not afraid of covid or long term organ damage, let me guess . You seen a study on Facebook that said humans can live forever. Life is short play hard or shelter up for the next five years.
