Three New Cases Reported Since Friday
Press release from Humboldt County COVID19 – Joint Information Center:
August 3 DashboardHumboldt County’s COVID-19 case count now stands at 236. A total of three new cases have been reported since Friday.
Daily, weekly and monthly data sets on the Humboldt County COVID-19 Data Dashboard have been updated to reflect the most recent information available. Some highlights include:
- Cases have increased by 7.27 percent since last Monday.
- The case doubling time is 46 days.
- The 20-29 age group represented the largest weekly increase in cases with 11 new infections reported.
- The cumulative rate of confirmed cases per 100,000 residents is 174, lower than the state rate of 1,275 and 1,419 cases per 100,000 residents nationally.
- The mean age of all local cases is 38.
Symptoms of COVID-19 range from cough and headache to muscle aches and chest pain. However, about one in 20 local individuals who have tested positive report no symptoms at all, according to the most recent data. Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich said because a person can’t necessarily tell when someone has COVID, physical distancing, facial coverings and not gathering with those who live outside of one’s household are even more important.
“Viruses need to find people in order to spread. It’s really that simple,” Dr. Frankovich said. “I’d encourage county residents to continue staying home as much as possible. For people who can’t stay home, wearing facial coverings, maintaining physical distancing and avoiding gatherings are the best prevention tools we have. Avoiding non-essential travel is also critically important. If we can interrupt transmission from one person to another, we can drastically reduce the spread of COVID in our community.”
Today’s alert level stands at three or level orange. Visit humboldtgov.org/dashboard to view the county’s Alert Level Assessment tool.

Zero new deaths. Zero new hospitalizations.
Yea….we read that. Where would we be without your guidance?
Won’t be any deaths or hospitalized with an average infection age of 39. Keep telling us that younger people could die, but numbers don’t lie, unlike reporters looking for ratings, or should I say money.
Numbers don’t lie because they do not say anything at all.
81% of covid-19 deniers are cigarette smokers, go figure!
There are 4 suspected patients with COVID in the hospital and 1 in ICU. I hope they have a quick and full recovery but if this trend continues we’re going to end up on the watch list.

To bad Dr Frankovitch couldn’t drag her ass out of her film production studio and go test those “suspected ” cases.
Your correct, and the one patient in icu has been tested multiple times. I guess the test til they get a positive. Do they get more funding with every positive? Why retest so many times?
Mayne this is a crazy idea, but:
Too see if she’s still carrying an infectious disease!
Still? That would imply he or she tested positive. None have . Who said she?
🕯🌳So wearing masks have slowed the hospitalization and the deaths good going Humboldt. Take a victory lap.🖖🇺🇸🖖🇺🇸🇺🇸
My veteran great uncle died yesterday. He lived in another state. He’d been fighting this for a couple weeks n after surviving war, poverty, racism, heart disease & diabetes, he finally could not fight any further. He leaves behind a wife, 3 sons & numerous grandchildren.
I say wear a mask n be aware of your surroundings, someones life, including your own, may be saved. Isn’t that enough? Isn’t it worth the effort to help protect others and yourself, the way this man put his effort & life before your very freedom? Is it really that hard to ask? RIP great man!
