According to OSP, Eureka Man Says He Struck 26 Vehicles During Hit and Run Spree,

This is a press release from the Oregon State Police. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

On Saturday, August 1, 2020 at approximately 10:37 A.M., Oregon State Police Troopers were dispatched to a reckless driver and hit and run crash located on Hwy 101 milepost 233 just north of North Bend, OR.

The reporting person advised they were stopped at the traffic signal at East Bay Dr. and Hwy 101 when they were struck  from behind. The suspect vehicle, a green older Dodge 1500 pickup with a green canopy bearing CA license plate, then accelerated attempting to push the vehicle into the intersection.

None of the occupants were injured and the Dodge continued northbound on Hwy 101 driving recklessly.

OSP was notified by the Coos Bay Police Department they were investigating the same Dodge pickup for striking several vehicles while traveling north on Hwy 101 through the city of Coos Bay.

OSP received a report the Dodge was observed at the trailhead to Siltcoos Lake, near the city of Florence, where the vehicle had intentionally struck several more vehicles and was again observed driving recklessly.

The Dodge was located nearby and had crashed through a gate leading to private property and become stuck in the sand.  The Dodge was reported stolen out of Eureka, CA.

Oregon State Police is requesting information from witnesses to the reckless driving and crashes or victims of crashes to contact the Oregon State Police Southern Command Center at 541-269-5000 or *OSP and leave information for Trooper Douglas Laird.

With so many bureaucratic hoops you have to jump through to do anything, it’s surprising there isn’t a mental health component to Driver’s License granting. What the heck– i do NOT want this nut on the road.

its bad enough getting our local agencies to do much of any traffic enforcement. when so many people on the road are obviously breaking the rules in one form or another. The fact that people have no problem with speed through the safety corridor while texting. With very little enforcement is just a small degree of evidence. Let alone in the last year. the complete lack of enforcement on city streets. With people blasting through H and I street in eureka at close to 100mph

Those eyes might indicate a large dose of Meth. But then I noticed the picture is from a 2017 arrest.

So he kept a count of how many vehicles he hit? Was he going for a guiness record?

At least he was caught in oregon. Maybe they’ll actually keep him in jail. If it were humboldt they would have cited him with a court date that he would of never showed up to

This hate fantasy of Humboldt is getting tired. It’s the same all over. Get over it. Move, or relax. If what you say is actually true, why did he go to Max-Enforcement-Oregon to do crime instead of staying in Have-A-Nice-Day- Humboldt to do crime? Are you gonna make the same comment after he’s been released from Oregon, and turns up arrested in Eureka again?

I kind of chuckled, because the guy got busted in Coos Bay/NorthBend. Which has a very high crime rate all by it’s lonesome.

Personally, that area always reminded me of Eureka and surrounding areas. A run down town and the little burgs that are part of the “metro” Coos Bay area. Though Coos County doesn’t have the “counter culture” aspects. It’s what Humboldt would be without it. Lots of meth….

The Muppets even named a very silly planet after Coos Bay. Koozebane.

No, the guy was arrested in Florence, west of Eugene, in Lane County. That’s a distance away from Coos Bay.

just curious, would the owner of the truck need to pay to get it out of the sand and back to Eureka (then have to deal with insurance to clean and fix the truck)?

Maybe the LCSD/OSP hauled it out as evidence. Also, where the truck got stuck in the sand is inland from the beach. Around a place called “Dunes City” which is in the middle various lakeshores that 101 follows there.

What did adding the police to this situation help. The perp stranded himself. Cops showed up in time to clean up the mess. Seems to me that this situation argues for defunding the police (we pay them a lot, they do very little), not the opposite as you suggest.

He does, him and some others just get a big thrill from saying that.Just expect it as part of any thread concerning crime and imagine them gaffawing like cretins as the type it.

Wow. I wonder what he was up to before he got to North Bend (adjacent to Coos Bay, on the north). That’s at least 4 hours from Eureka driving (though thinking about it, he may have made “better” time by driving like a bat out of hell). Were there any incidents in between that haven’t come to the authorities’ attention yet? Crescent City, Brookings, Gold Beach, Bandon, etc. all might have some unexplained hit and runs, too.

I’m assuming he came that way. Edited, he was driving recklessly in Coos Bay, too.

I bet this state was cool once. And, before you say it, I can’t wait to leave. I figured living in the middle of nowhere in California would afford some respite from the Manson Family but boy it’s just part of the culture and that country boy shit just as weird tho I respect it slightly more based in getting things done but the ignorance far outdoes the simple homespun common sense which normally is undisputed. I’ve lived a lot of places and the “emerald Triangle” is just gross sorry. Oddly the locals I meet here wouldn’t last more than a week in, say, the south Bronx which I am not from even remotely. How is it I was able to do that? Im a white male, skilled carpenter and not at all a conformist but somehow I provided for me and my own while roughing it out there… now, being here only seven years I’ve seen more creepy ass human trafficking and overall fucked up dynamics as the norm here then I’ve ever seen anywhere. I remember coming up here initially and feeling creeped out then I stuck around cause my daughter lives here and, thankfully, knows wtf she’s doing as a midwife delivering the drugged out babies on the dole for the straight trash around here (I’ve never seen so many hollow eyed beaten down anemic looking kids wtf) but slowly but surely I became certain this place is all fucked up have fun wit it and I’ll say it before the proud (of what?) Californian says GOOD RIDDANCE. Btw the only humorous and accurate thing I’ve seen is The Californians skit on SNL and that ain’t a compliment. I’ve thought pretty deeply as to what I can make of it from within myself and help others (which I do, albeit begrudgingly now) Aside from the opportunity to get away from everyone in the beautiful landscape that is, as I speak, being fucked up by every bit of greedy fuck from everywhere not to mention the exploitive behavior that is accepted as the norm in the culture here geeeez. If you love this place like it’s your home then I extend my condolences but wow it’s pretty beat and the only locals round here I even listen to and care for are probably in their eighties cause they lived here when this place was probably cool

You landed in the wrong spot! I love my little corner of Humboldt, but just like our terrain and ecosystems are diverse, so are our communities. There is such a difference between Shelter Cove, Eureka, Honeydew, Harris, the grassy valley, and the tanoak ridge. Actually yeah, much of Humboldt and people therein suck. I can avoid Shelter Cove, just like I can avoid CultFarm, Arkansas.

I wish somebody could help with the human trafficking thing, I think there might be something to that, don’t know if it’s true, but even the thought of it, is terrible.

Went to school with Chuck.

He wouldn’t mind straightening out your mouth if you said something stupid and obnoxious.

On second thought. He went looking for people to straighten out.

Wonder how many people would tell Chuck to put a mask on…

Just the stupid ones
