Local Man Missing Since His Vehicle Crashed Last Friday

After a search near the location of a pickup that crashed over the embankment of Hwy 96 between Weitchpec and Hoopa last Friday, July 24 failed to locate the owner, family and friends of Jules Tripp (also known as Julius Tripp) have been looking for the missing man.

California Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Paul Craft said officers responded on Friday, July 24 at 11:53 am to a report of a vehicle that had gone off the side of an embankment located between Weitchepec and Hoopa near mile marker 18:10. The reporting party indicated they had seen the vehicle off the side of the road hours before but had not reported it till midday Friday, according to Craft.

Craft explained that after officers found the truck over the side of the hill, fire and rescue personnel responded to the scene. Craft described rescue personnel rappelling down to the vehicle and finding no sign of blood or injury. They were ultimately unable to find the vehicle’s owner, Julius Tripp. Craft added that a CHP aircraft joined in the search that afternoon but Tripp was not located. Ultimately the vehicle was extricated and towed, Craft said.

According to Humboldt County Sheriff Office’s Public Information Officer Samantha Kargas, HCSO was contacted on July 26 to assist the Hoopa Valley Tribal Police Department in a search and rescue for Tripp.

Kargas said HCSO learned about CHP’s discovery of the vehicle, the subsequent search for Tripp, and the extrication of the vehicle. HCSO learned that during that search a wallet belonging to Tripp was located.

Kargas also said that HCSO also learned that “[o]n July 25, family members and a volunteer group of searchers reportedly began looking for Tripp in the area where the vehicle was located. No one was located.”

Vivian Tello, Tripp’s niece, said his family is very worried about him. Tello said that after examining the roadway, family members told her, it almost seemed as if someone was trying to run Tripp off of the road.

Kargas said that when HCSO learned of the disappearance, “Tripp was entered into our system as a missing person and a search of the area was again conducted. Tripp is still outstanding at this time.”

Kargas described Julius Tripp “as a 42-year-old American Indian male, approximately 5 feet 1 inch tall, 110 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.”

Kargas asks that“[a]nyone with information regarding Tripp’s whereabouts should contact the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at 707-445-7251.”

Tell you what, Willie, this guy looks a lot like the doped-up crazy dude that killed his sister at the gas station in Hoopa, with what, a shotgun? Funny how this guy also looks like Machete actor Danny Trejo.

Is that racist? If so, why is it, all of a sudden, bad to think like that?

I mean seriously, until everyone has the same percentage of every other culture and race in their DNA, as well as the same amount of land, wealth, etc..we will never be equal, at least not in the eyes of those that have an opinion about it. The haves will look down upon the have-nots, while the have-nots will always feel sour about their existence.

What those idiots don’t realize is that, it takes roughly just a mere 4% of the population to overthrow any government. (By idiots, I mean folks on both sides.)

Imagine what would happen to the Humboldt County court system if everyone that got an abatement notice decided to band together and fight it in court. The entire system would shut down. They don’t have the capacity to add court rooms, judges, clerks, asshole overweight sheriffs deputies to guard each courtroom, etc…
They would have no choice but to DISMISS EVERY CASE!!

This is one of the major reasons why I feel superior to most of you. You have no idea how the system works, so instead of learning how to get what you want, you prefer to whine about every thing that offends you and sit on your ass while you offer “thoughts and prayers” to every one you feel might be having a bad day.

WAKE UP!!!

It’s time to fight back! Get your petty bullshit out of your mind and do everyone in the area a favor and become one against the overwhelming corruption that is both running and ruining what would otherwise be the peaceful enjoyment of our lives!

Fuck Honsal and his bullshit raids that only cost this county MILLIONS, while at the same time, releasing every fucking heroin dealer. This dude deserves a public flogging! Let’s pelt this bunghole with rocks and garbage! How long does he think we are willing to piss money away on his assholistic behavior? And fuck Estelle as well. She aint gonna last much beyond this term. Bohn and his family are set for life, unless you lame-o’s get your act together and make his shit worthless. How? It’s time to eliminate the growing fees, AKA local govt kickdown, and fire up every piece of land you can get access to. GROW BIG!!!

Btw, I am desperate for a good game of chess. Do any of you feel like taking an ass-whopping for the team?

@HOJ, what you don’t realize is this is not the place for your completely unwarranted and unrelated screed. Quit making this about you and your self-proclaimed, yet highly dubious superiority and have some compassion for fellow humans who are missing their loved one.

I hope Mr. Tripp is found well and soon.

The saddest part about this racist ranting is that Tripp has been found to be murdered in cold blood by a white boy, whom your likely going to make justifications and excuses for his unprovoked violent behavior. Obviously the murderer and his family are counting on Humboldt county being as racist as this post would lead you to conclude, hoping a jury of his peers will acquit him. but what if situation had been reversed and Tripp had cold heartedly killed a young 18-year-old white boy – after cutting off his hands!!! Would he be getting a jury trial? Would the judge be telling that native man he wasn’t guilty until proven so?
The injustice is plain to see. I shouldn’t have any privilegein this county over somebody with a darker skin color but it’s been made very clear to me that I do, which makes it my responsibility to call attention to those utilizing privilege to avoid consequences of their actions.

A sad story, but I wonder if he pushed the truck over the bank and left with another person. I know how worried the family must be, so I sure hope he is located and is fine.

I sure hope that something like that is the case.

No blood in the truck almost sounds like foul play was involved and whoever was responsible ditched the truck.

The Sherriffs need to follow up with anyone who was with him or saw him in the day(s) prior to his disappearance.

Foul play more often involves blood vs. no blood I would think. No blood is a good sign.

Unless an attacker did something to him outside of the truck then decided to dump his truck and wallet.

Debi, probably to throw the police off track. He may have taken his money and driver’s license to confused the officers. Or in a hurry, he might have forgot and left it in the truck before it went over the edge. I just hope they find him.

That is terrible…I just wonder if he was being Violently Pursued by someone?
If he was from around here, you would think someone else, friends or family would know maybe if he had a beef with anyone who might do something like this.
Not everybody would chase you down in your car, run you off the road, and abduct you.

It’s not always a beef sometimes in Res country you just happen to be unfortunate to know some crazy f#$&er and shit kicks off. You went to school with him/her, or their female family was hooking up or partying and something disrespectful might have been said and it snow balls.

Many bodies have been found days and months later within a half mile of a crash site. Law enforcement simply does not do a thorough job searching especially in brush. Check the area again and again. Same thing recently happened on the coast, a friend of the missing man read the article and went back and found the man’s body months later!

The vehicle was resting on its cab over an embankment. There’s almost no way, even if tossed from his vehicle, that there’d be absolutely no blood in the vehicle. I do, however, wonder why it took the person reporting, so long to report it on top of all the other suspicious things regarding this case.

My brother was in a vehicle accident and rolled 3 times. There was no trace of blood in his vehicle. He walked away with one scratch on his leg. He was wearing his seatbelt though. When I saw his vehicle I cried, because how was it possible that he was able to walk to my house to show me his smashed up car? Anyways, my point is, people can get in bad wrecks and not bleed, although this particular incident seems pretty suspicious. I think foul play outside of the vehicle, then his truck pushed off the cliff to look like an accident, just like Virgil Bussell’s truck abandoned. Maybe it was somewhere else? Pretty close to the same area? Maybe the same person?

I hope & pray that he is found SAFE, & SOUND, & SOON.

His poor family must be going crazy with worry. 💔

May God be with Mr. Tripp, & his parents, family, friends, beloveds, & his community.

The whole thing seems very bizarre & kind of suspicious, unfortunately.

How many local native men have gone missing recently, & under what circumstances?

get the hound dogs and a clothing sample from his residence and start tracking at the bottom of the hill. If repelling was needed to get to the truck, then he wasn’t climbing back up-no way. Good luck and I hope he’s found safe.

Thank you to those that have faith in him showing up. But I also feel if he does not show up then it is foul play. That p u I believe was possible pushed over thinking it would go to the bottom of the canyon and never to be seen again, and if it was, then it would be, OH he went in the river. Please put all the input u want we need to find him. Jules might look like whatever to you but he is a good person. His family is truly worried. I do have much more to say but this is a start.

Amen sister. I love him too. Thank you sis and mom and all family and friends who exhausted themselves over the past week trying to get Jules home safe God bless you all. I don’t see how this incident was able to slip through the cracks not getting reported in timely manner to obviously important local law inforcement agency especially considering number of ongoing missing and or unanswered found dead in the area. Unexcusable. Full investigation being requested. We love Julius and need him back safe ASAP.

Amen sister I love both of you. I want to know why chp didn’t immediately contact sheriff’s department!! Is this standard procedure? Even with numerous unanswered disappearances/dead bodies “found”???? Or if they did why did our family have to beg n prod etc to get some answers and search efforts for days after truck ‘found’? Law enforcement in that area needs a full investigation of themselves at the very least protocol needs examined and restructured. Not some day! NOW! Native not native I don’t care. Rap sheet no rap sheet I don’t care. Tattoos no tattoos …. Treat them/us all like the humans you expect to be treated as should one of your dear love ones be ‘just one of the missing’!!!! Thank you to all of the people concerned and sharing wise thoughts. God willing Jules will have a chance to see these. He will light up ear to ear with that forever rememberable grin and appreciate it thank you! Thank you so much mom sis and all the family n friends exhausting themselves the last week to get to Jules n bring him home safe. Our efforts and prayers will continue. We love him.
FYI, Jules weighs more than 110. I think he’s taller than 5’1′ also I believe he weighs 140 plus. I’m just afraid should anyone see him they’ll think it’s not him since no wallet on him. (Which I thought we were told was found on the seat but don’t see how if truck was on it’s cab but okay).. God bless

Please we need more comments.
We need to hear from any body who might have seen him during the four days prior of the wreck.
Maybe at the gas station or walking in town with who or anything that might give an indication which way he might have been coming or going.
