Eight New Cases Today, July 20

novel coronavirus Covid-19 HumboldtPress release from Humboldt County COVID19 – Joint Information Center:

Eight new cases of COVID-19 were reported today, bringing to 189 the total number of residents who have tested positive for the virus. Today marked the first case of community transmission since June 17. Some cases remain under investigation.

Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich noted that while this is the first reported case of community transmission in more than a month, it is important to be mindful that COVID-19 is circulating within our county. “We have had cases in all regions of our county, and we have people traveling in and out of our county, so it is good to assume that when you are out of your home you may encounter someone with COVID-19. The possibility of this exposure will only increase with time,” she said.

“No matter where you live or work, you can be as safe as possible by following all preventive measures like proper hand washing, use of face coverings and social distancing,” Dr. Frankovich said. She added that contacts that occur outdoors are safer than those indoors just as brief contacts that occur with a face covering in place and at a distance of six feet lessen risk of transmission.

Today’s alert level stands at a two. Visit humboldtgov.org/dashboard to view the Data Dashboard and Alert Level Assessment tool.

And the severity is?!!! That should be pertinent information. Of course we all (those of us with common sense) know that statistic wouldn’t support their “SKY IS FALLING” narrative.

This county in Texas posts a good amount of information. Would definitely reduce confusion.

That type of reporting kind of makes it look like the younger crowd is very very very low risk. That can’t be true.

YES, YES, YES!!!

We can’t let Mendo outdo us, even when it comes to stupidity. EVERYONE, go out and get you some covid…NOW!

Newsom had it under control until he stuck his tongue up Trump’s ass as he folded under pressure.

It’s time to return to public flogging! I’ve got some ripe tomatoes and a wicked slider.

I have known that since I was in high school back in the 70’s.

My Chemistry and Physics teacher was an absolutely brilliant man.

Cmdr. Vance Harris, US Navy Ret. This guy would come into class and take a deep breath and then say a name of a person from the past, like Mussolini or some other famous person, as if he had taken a breath directly from that person. I’m sure that concept just blew right by most of you. He is the same person that taught me that a bug never hits a windshield. It’s the energy of the bug, that holds it together, that interacts with the energy of the windshield. Again, right over most of your heads.

I’ve known from the start that I can’t escape this, and most likely will not survive it when I catch it.

I’m actually amazed at the amount of people who say they were sick around the beginning of the year. Before i had even so much as heard about the virus! I too was deathly ill in early January. Couldn’t breathe, couldn’t stop coughing. Was concerned that my neighbors would complain about my continuous coughing and hacking around the clock for a good three weeks. Felt like my heart was gonna give out! I just loaded up on over the counter decongestants, cough drops, Vicks, and whatever else was in my med. cabinet. It was rough for 3 weeks and bad for 3 months! But somehow i got through it! And my elderly Christian mother by some Heavenly intervention I’m sure, DID NOT catch it.

A lot ofeople think they had it but likely had another respiratory infection. But since a certain percentage of People do get quite sick, requiring hospitization, if many People were infected with covid-19 in January or February, there would have an excess death rate in those months. The CDC site shows no such increase until the end of March. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/excess_deaths.htm

Kym, it would be interesting to know what percentage of our 189 cases were reported by the county and Optims percentage and other hospitals and Dr offices. I know Dr Frankovich is adamantly opposed to giving any more information though.

Conservatives don’t like to call in the feds, so when they are willing to do it, they must not like whats happening even more.

The protestors have become an excuse and a cover for violence, destruction and murder.

I can’t believe the democrats have either condoned or kept silent on The destruction and violence as if it isn’t happening.

Including JOE.

Sigh….you all think Portland is on fire or something.

The protests are in a small area of a pretty sprawling city.

You should visit instead of listening/reading people who are completely exaggerating the protests (especially now, the initial riots were bad, and not confined to “protesters”, especially the looting.)

Look, I don’t even like Portland (never really have, prefer Seattle as far as PNW cities go) even though I have lived in Oregon for decades. That said, the gross exaggeration and vilification of the Portland protests is pure politics by Trump. He’s counting on people buying his narrative. And it seems to be working on some. 🙂

And then there is the Coquille, OR response. It would have hilarious…well it really was. Convoys of “antifa” buses are coming to wreck our town!!!! Sheriff puts snipers on the roofs, even. Oh yeah, and Forks, WA.

Also, stop conflating protesters with violence. The rabblerousers are few and far between.

In that case no one is being kidnapped off the streets then are they? I mean since they aren’t there they couldn’t be being kidnapped could they?

Seems there wouldn’t be any reason for The Oregon Attorney General to speak out about what isn’t happening.

Or … maybe it just isn’t on your front porch. Or maybe tye dyed and scorched federal buildings don’t bother you.

I already said I don’t want to see feds on the streets.

I think one of the biggest mistakes Allman made was bringing the feds to Mendocino.

Nor do I want to see people that are afraid to leave their homes and businesses and the local governments are defending the chaos.
It’s their job to stop it.

I don’t believe they are picking up peaceful folks…so vet or not if your violent tuff sh*t.

Just like cartels and the border. If you work for them or with them TS.

================================

The city has been the locus of nonstop violent protests for 51 days and counting. And really, calling them protests is incorrect: They are acts of outright rebellion, with many participants openly calling for the dismantling of the United States.

The Daily Caller described the mayhem and posted videos of it, which included the attempted torching of the Police Association building:

Portland has seen over 50 days of protests and rioting, and Saturday proved to be no different. Daily Caller reporters were at the scene where rioters squared off with officers after tearing down fencing and using it to barricade the federal courthouse. …

Outside of the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse, hundreds gathered and immediately began removing fencing surrounding the park and courthouse that had been erected by officers. Some rioters barricaded the building and began to taunt officers by banging on the walls and yelling for them to come outside.

While all this was going on, more “largely peaceful” protesters broke into the police union’s building and tried to burn it down. That’s called arson, and it’s a felony.

Who’s behind all this? Antifa and Black Lives Matter, of course. But they aren’t the only ones. There are lots of other leftists of various affiliations agitating the crowds.

One in particular who’s come to our attention is a so-called organizer of the violent protests. She describes herself in a viral Twitter video: “My name is Lilith Sinclair, I’m an Afro-Indigenous non-binary local organizer here in Portland, organizing for the abolition of not just the militarized police state but also the United States as we know it.”

Just so you know, “abolition” in this context means “violent overthrow.”

Alrighty, then! So much for these being “peaceful demonstrations” about “social justice,” as the media keep telling us ad nauseam. By the way, Sinclair and her cohorts call Portland “stolen land,” and thus feel anything they do is justified. For extremists, ends, however mistaken or evil, always justify the means.

The fevered rhetoric by the left predictably has engendered violence, which has been met with an equally predictable response by the federal government to protect its property, buildings and, most of all, employees.

Now Portland parents are getting involved. The “Wall of Moms” and the “PDX Dad Pod”. They are marching with and surrounding the kids protesting from the unnamed, camo covered feds. There were thousands in the streets. GTFO feds, Oregon will not used be for Trump’s electioneering.

And yes, the “violence”, ie protesting, is concentrated in a tiny spot in Portland.

But please, getting your knickers in a knot (not you Kym) over something you really know nothing about because…well I don’t know why. I live in Oregon. Maybe you should listen to Oregonians, from the Governor on down. If I wasn’t hours away from PDX I’d be there with the kids tonight, too. I have friends, olds like me, who are out there.

Like the Navy vet, the fed thugs have no compunction with violence towards the citizens. They have brought violence with them. Just like Trump wanted.

Yes, I am angry.

We can’t risk public schools this year or ever again. We have the technology for 100% remote learning so let’s shut down these public schools and use the savings in teacher, classified, and admin staff to contact with companies like K12 to educate our kids.

Read this one also from the Atlantic on how the CDC totally mixed up covid test and antibody test results. All the stats are seriously corrupt.

My symptoms are mild, but I don’t feel well enough to drive an hour to argue with a medic about if I’m sick or not and the wait in line for three weeks (!!!!) to be tested (JUST what #45 wants, right? ) I figure I’ll stay home until I run out of food. I’ve been masked and gloved in public since early March.
The way I see it the County is being run by Trump Republicans who figure it doesn’t matter as long as they seem to be caring.
I’ve read about local police who won’t enforce the mask rule, I see an incredibly inefficient testing program and a web site that suppresses information.
The ONE thing they got right was responding to the request for Spanish language updates. Once a week?
Humbug! (Humboldt!)
And what about the various Asian language options? There is a Hmong population locally.
Of course what is dominating the county is the righteous radical ass hats (likely red with white printing) who think that a lack of consideration for one’s neighbors is an expression of LIBERTY and FREEDOM.
Time for them to take off their shoes and walk around barefoot for a while. Maybe they should just shed ALL their garments to make the point that they are living in a Free County.
Of course, the desire to go bare faced MIGHT have something to do with their personal hygiene and food choices. I found my mask was easier to wear if I brushed my teeth before I put it on in the morning.
The rest of us are trying to be cooperative.

Yup. Trump is totally in charge- he could stop the pandemic if he wanted to. After all he sent the Portland rioters to disinfect the city with fire because he knows a bright light can kill the virus. And he’s deliberately making it hard to get tested as the US is only fourth in the world in testing.

We have the NIH, CDC, FDA, State and County Heath Departments.
Their job is to be prepared for pandemics they have told us for decades will come.
Governors and legislators are supposed to give them the resources to do that job.

What did they do to prepare and what resources were they given the last few decades or so?

If there is an earthquake in Ca. will that be Trumps fault or are the local and State agencies suppose to be prepared??

We can’t even get basic information reports from Humboldt.

Funny how they are not accountable as long as they have Trump to blame.
Do you expect him to come to your house and wash your dishes too?

Look around the World Trump has a couple things on his plate to deal with besides the always bitching left.
