Cannabis growPress release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) served three search warrants this week to investigate illegal cannabis cultivation in the Southern Humboldt area. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife and Humboldt County Code Enforcement assisted in the service of the warrants.

On July 14, 2020, MET deputies served one search warrant at a parcel in the Shively area. The parcel did not possess the required county permit and state license to cultivate cannabis commercially.

During the service of the warrant, deputies eradicated approximately 2,600 growing cannabis plants.

Assisting agencies found the following violations:

  • Two water diversion violations (up to $8,000 fine per day, per violation)
  • Three water pollution violations (up to $20,000 fine per day, per violation)

Also on July 14, MET deputies served one search warrant at a parcel in the Honeydew area. The parcel did not possess the required state license to cultivate cannabis commercially.

During the service of the warrant, deputies eradicated approximately 6,900 growing cannabis plants.

Assisting agencies found the following violations:

  • Four water diversion violations (up to $8,000 fine per day, per violation)
  • Five water pollution violations (up to $20,000 fine per day, per violation)

On July 15, MET deputies served one search warrant at a parcel in the Briceland area. The parcel did not possess the required state license to cultivate cannabis commercially.

During the service of the warrant, deputies eradicated approximately 2,000 growing cannabis plants.

Assisting agencies found the following violations:

  • One water diversion violation (up to $8,000 fine per day, per violation)
  • Five water pollution violations (up to $20,000 fine per day, per violation)

No arrests were made during the service of the warrants. Additional violations with civil fines are expected to be filed by the assisting agencies. The cases will be forwarded to the DA’s Office for review.

MET deputies also visited an additional cannabis cultivation operation in Briceland. Upon contact with the parcel owner, deputies learned the parcel had just received its state license and verified that it was in compliance with current state and local orders. No enforcement action was taken at this parcel.

  • Criminals with badges reign of terror !

  • Why? We release heroin traffickers now.

    • It says right in the press release that no arrests were made.

True that their crops were destroyed but by the same token the cops didn’t give the people back their heroin and send them on their merry way.

      • They destroyed property in process they drive a Kubota right through a structure ..I was under impression if no compliance they take plants not destroy personal property..I am shocked at what they do to a place

  • I made it thank gosh all the hard work paid off I had a nice experience and all my work they treated us nicely …I shit my pants but they were patient enough to let us get them the proper paper work . Yay ! Sorry for all the ones in process … Even legal rhisbisbeisky business 40 officers and a tractor are scary

  • Being nice pays off and they were all nice to us

    • Good job paying the government so you can grow and all your neighbors get busted! Lucky you! Yay!

      • It’s sad people get busted that’s not even cool but don’t be mad at people who actually got a license …

      • Baby Boomers Screwed America

Moar tears please. Small timers that never leave the county, let alone understand state laws, and have no clue about running a competitive business are done. Get over it you sound like a whiny child. You had your good times of fast easy tax-free money while ruining our local environment. No one is buying your illegal shit weed in this state and can’t market it. So instead of whining, vote with your feet, take your illegal grows to a state that it’s not legal, and be outlaw still. No one gonna miss ya!

        • I think you will be done when federal legalization happens. Enjoy the temporary price bump, and save a little for a new future when you find yourself out of a job flipping tarps.

        • I think you will be done when federal legalization happens.

        • There is nothing more putrid than a newcomer coming in and telling us all how it is.

        • BBSA,

Alex, I’ll take Things Corporations Say to Rural People Everywhere.

Yes, there were bad growers but to blame the environmental damage on mom and pop’s is to have missed the vast majority of the problem.

  • Hard to believe they are still going after the farms trying and doing everything they can to be compliant ? A Kubota? What the duck are they allowed to mow a structure down seems unlawful I can understand plants but ruining property is a no

  • [edit] — Thanks for paying them to screw everyone else !

    • Entering a World of Pain

Yeah haha. And this tools kissing their ass for being so kind to wait to see his paperwork. They all deserve eachother. The pigs, the snitches and the sell out growers. What a joke

      • Lol maybe you should go legal of it was me I would have been pissed if they didn’t check paperwork and cut is down .. they are going after legal farms that are missing state number I doubt anyone kisses ass

      • Baby Boomers Screwed America

The only one that’s a joke is you buddy cuz you don’t have a way to make money for your poduck unemployable self anymore at the expense of the community. Your illegal weed is not welcome here anymore. Get with the program get licensed or get the f*** out! you don’t have to stay here you’re welcome to leave and go to other states where you could still be an outlaw. Take your criminal ass somewhere else believing that your neighbors should just be quiet while you break the law not paying your fair share ruining our environment and making a dangerous community. Other people have to work hard around here to pay their bills why should you get a free f****** ride! Quit your bitching move already.

        • Entering a World of Pain

I’d wager i work harder than almost anyone commenting on this thread. And our market is thriving right now

          • Baby Boomers Screwed America

Then don’t bitch when you get popped. You play stupid games you win stupid prizes. I support them going out there and raiding your stupid ass. Take your illegal competition to another state where you could be an outlaw. You don’t work you destroy everything I’ve seen your grows. You ain’t special nobody cares about your eagle 20 Black market weed.

            • Black Rifles Matter

Who are you and where are you from. You are definitely new around here. Plenty of people still care about our eagle 20 avid weed. Sarcasm folks. Prices are great too. Don’t be mad you paid a stupid amount of money for a “legal farm “ that you will never get back. Treat the locals kinder if you don’t want to be treated like the douchebag you come off to be. [edit]

        • Yet your commentary reeks of insecurity and sounds like it was dug up from an ancient 50’s boomer’s manuscript… BBSA ..“Get out.. we don’t want your kind ‘round here’” such a ‘ Woke’ statement. If you had such confidence in your products.. you wouldn’t have to whine and cry to the flower Police to bail you out. Literally this comment is sewage. And a toxic statement like yours, I wouldn’t doubt your products reap the same.. It wouldn’t be surprising if you also had some cards under the table. Like most the “legal” growers do.. Labeling someone else a criminal for the same thing u must do is a joke. Your statement is criminal. Weed is not criminal. It is a misdemeanor at best.. Criminal, is charging massive undue fines and indiscriminately raiding people. Marijuana Prohibition has been “criminal” from the beginning.. and this newest stunt to enforce markets through draconian raids are no different.
But go ahead cry harder because your wimpy products couldn’t make it In a truly free and open PEOPLES market..

          • Entering a World of Pain

I think baby boomer is a cop, or maybe a snitch. One of those 3 groups I mentioned really got his goat. Regardless, I ALMOST feel sorry for the guy

          • Nicely put SmallFry. I don’t think he’s from Humboldt originally. I’d sure hate to think so.

          • And this is the kool aid being fed to the community. Being legal and calling or rooting for the cops to bust people who don’t have their permit is soooooo lame. It’s equally lame to hate people for having a permit. Chill we’re community don’t let honsal divide us on such a sharp line.

        • I smell a rat.

    • Maybe everyone else should also put in the hard work to get compliant.

      • This is true . If you want to play the outlaw game don’t bitch when you get caught.

If you want to play the legal game you better be ok with admitting you’re just fine with the government shaking you down for a few hundred thousand to be allowed to grow some weed.

        • Baby Boomers Screwed America

Oh so you realize we live in America with a government that taxes everybody that works huh? Normal business also has to pay license fees and taxation plus all the other stuff. You ain’t special for growing weed get with the program or go somewhere else. If you don’t like the shakedown then you better vote in better elected representatives in government who don’t sit at the trough expecting workers to pay their agendas. But the problem with being an outlaw is people like you don’t show up to vote and you’re probably a felon anyways so you can’t vote!

          • Felons can indeed vote in California. Learn the law.

          • Facts: i do vote, I’m a carpenter, i realize how the regulatory system works, I’m not a felon and I’m doing just fine .

So much for your wild assumptions ……

Knowing how the system works I’m appalled that people who want small grows ( 500 square feet or less or people with less than 5 acres of ag land ) can’t get a permit .

    • They seem to always be screwing w everyone what sucks is they screwing w the people who have paid and are in process (which is slow as fuck ) and I wanna know why a tractor ? Can they just now down our steuctires of we are legal wtf

  • The government wants their cut. Regulation is how they get it. Feeling like this is an assault on personal freedom is delusional. This isn’t a free country nothing is free, grow up.

    • Exactly. Moving on from the Greenrush is difficult for some. No more hundreds of thousands or millions of tax free money. It was imploding on itself anyways. Biggest shit show to happen to Humboldt.
Adapt or get a permit and quit whining.
Everyone has their own path, choose and shut up.

  • No arrests? Screw all of you…The world is upside down. I Quit !

  • Baby Boomers Screwed America

Loving the tears. I come here to make fun of all the podunk small piddly growers that whine thinking they’ll be able to compete against my legal 2-acre farm. It’s hard enough for my legal 2-acre farm to compete against those outside of this county with 10ac+ in flat land greenhouses using immigrant labor. But we still make money and I got enough time to come here to laugh at you all small time growers who don’t get with the program. The old days are gone and I support taking all the illegal grows out which are not only illegal competition, but also businesses who are not paying their fair share of taxes back into the community, and you guys destroy our environment. So more tears please I love these articles when they come out and all the tears!

    • Why would you revel in other peoples’ misery?

    • “Love tears” Where did you come from, Florida?
Obviously you don’t understand that this industry became legal because of these people who broke the law and paid the ultimate price. Go ahead, laugh all you want at the poor small farmers that helped you get your acre. Meanwhile you use 10x more water than everyone else and probably have a gang of employees commuting to your bulldozed plot full of plastic hoops.
While your on your high horse try to remember its still federally illegal so watch your mouth as karmas always listening.

    • And your bitching about competition in other counties with immigrant labor and 10 acres 😂. Hahaha better get ready when the valley goes wide open, your 2 acres will be a joke. If the Traditional Market is hurting you now, get ready dude you have no idea whats coming down the pipe.

    • How about this? I highly doubt you’re going to waltz into this county and grow the superior cannabis that people here have been doing for decades. And as another mentioned you might not have your feathers so ruffled if you weren’t growing grade B and having a hard time paying taxes on a 2 acre grow. Where did you get the start money? Oh yeah that’s right…Black Mkt.

  • Baby boomer hater do you have anything positive to say? I’m glad that you are able to vent your feelings.

  • Too little Too late!! The partially- permitted “good player” farms have pulled their huge dep crops and are already beginning to flood the black market. But I guess this is really about the appearance of caring and law and such…I guess it works as some form of price control so everybody not busted should be feeling ambivalent …as the forces of the corporate government destroy our community…Remember- 6 pounds of heroin and you get to leave with no fines!

  • Change is hard.

    • Not if you are still selling on the black market! Just paying the county a little protection money. It’s all good!

  • It’s all fake news

Not sure where in Briceland they were, but when I drove through Monday they smelled like they were ready to harvest. I wonder how many of those plants were put through the chipper on site… I bet LEOs pay their trimmers shit wages.

  • There is no such thing as illegal weed.

Weed is a plant a [email protected]#&ing plant.

40 officers and how many weeks of investigating a plant. Who is the victim here?

The Grand Jury came out and bashed Planning and Building for not being transparent in the application process.

With that said Humboldt was once home to 15,000+ grows now we have 1,000 legal. That’s pathetic to say the least.

Why didn’t Planning and Building work with Humboldt resident and help them Transition instead of fine and destroy our economy?

All our weed is sold in other counties nobody needs weed up here.

Let our neighbors grow 1200 sq ft with zero application fees whatsoever.

Let our 14,000 neighbors grow a small cottage crop without any regulations.
1200 sq ft is a small house garden and it’s impact to the environment is nothing.

Maybe just maybe Garberville and Redway won’t become third world towns occupied by homeless people.

Weed will and can save our economy without destroying the environment.

If the local people can’t grow 1200 sq ft then crime, homelessness and drug abuse will continue to rise.

Thanks a lot Humboldt County officials for noticing that

    • It’s simple- the California market can’t handle as much weed as we grow. We supplied the country. Every little hick town in the US smokes weed from here. The white market is (supposed) to only serve CA. That’s the problem with everyone just getting permits and everything being the same.
About the homeless problem- I agree it’s getting terrible. I wish some sociologists could figure it out. I’ve lived in the area my whole adult life and I have seen it get worse and worse as weed has become more prominent. Is it related? Probably not, but the ‘hill economy’ hasn’t helped bring our community together on much.

    • Hard to notice when their busy setting up themselves, family, and friends. Pretty sure they’re set for life one way or the other.

  • Who is even in charge of deciding what and who they gonna visit ? The planning dept really needs to get their shit together
