good job gentlemen!
And Ladies…
On a straight stretch of road. Pay attention to what you are doing while driving.
The accident was caused by his tire…. Don’t assume he did something wrong, and then decide it is smart to comment.
Even more care should be taken with pickups. Speeders think they’re safe. “According to NHTSA statistics, in single-vehicle crashes, pickups have more than double the probability of rolling over. Data shows that pickups largely have a greater fatality rate than cars of comparable weight. Pickup truck rollovers involve many of the same occupant hazards as are found in SUV rollovers.”
Especially 4x4s modded with oversize tires (this example) and lift kits. The highway handling is also compromised. Anybody considering those mods should be cognizant of the downsides and, if they truly have good reason for them, also install roll protection. Otherwise, better off to stay stock.
Wasn’t speed! Something went wrong with tire. Don’t judge unless you know facts. Is family so I know. Just pray for him cause he is hurt bad!
I will pray for his recovery ❤️
I was one of the first people on the scene and held his head and kept him stable until paramedics arrived. (I’m a licensed medically trained professional). I’ve been sending prayers and wondering how he is doing. Sending lots of healing wishes his way. We spoke to one another as he was in and out of consciousness. 🙏🏽
Thank you, Suzanne. I think one of my favorite parts of this website is helping people who witnessed accidents and the victims get needed answers. Thank you for being there for this man in his time of need.
He’s wheel actually came off while driving that’s why it flipped. Don’t just assume that he wasn’t paying attention when you don’t know the whole story
Actually this is my cousin and his front wheel fell off while he was driving. So don’t run your mouth when you don’t know what happened.
Super wide tires put a lot of extra stress on the front wheel mounts. Most people who mod their truck’s undercarriage aren’t thinking about all of the ramifications.
How bad are his injuries?
That’s terrifying.
Five o’clock rush to get home. Same thing happens South of Eureka. Especially on Herrick. Some evenings bumper to bumper. It’s a two lane road and someone is turning left and you can see the tail lights come on many times at once. Then the race to merge onto 101S. The traffic is getting crazy. Probably the same on 255 to and from Arcata and Eureka during the same times.
Another nasty accident. That man is very lucky to be alive after looking at the smashed truck. I hope he will be fine.
Thank you to the Arcata Fire District and CAL FIRE Trinidad for safely removing the man from his truck. Great job guys!
🕯🌳Thank you first responders for the quick action and response you give the people of this County. 👍🏽👍🏽🇺🇸
What he said.
I whole heartedly agree with you Willie.
I would also like to give a big thank you to the people who stopped.
I came upon this going southbound (same direction as the truck) literally within moments of the accident. I didn’t see it happen but I saw a very chaotic scene in front of me. Cars parked on both sides of the highway and good samaritans running across the median. I slowed my vehicle to a crawl and put on my hazard lights because other motorists were still coming up behind me at 65 plus with no idea of what was happening in front of them.
I decided not to stop because there were already a dozen people on scene and several of them were on their phones. I figured why add to the chaos especially being that I have no medical skills. The driver was conscious and was being helped through his open window.
What I found interesting was the appearance of a slow emergency response and hopefully this is because it came from Trinidad and not from the south. I drove from Murray Rd. almost all the way to Samoa Blvd before seeing any first responders. No ambulance at all and then finally one CHP who was moving with purpose but no lights or sirens. I am sure that the response was relatively quick but I was beginning to wonder.
Anyway, what Willie said and also a big hand for the good samaritans!
My car was on fire at the 76 in McKinleyville one time. I called 911, as I did not have the fire department 3 blocks aways number. Luckily, I was able to disconnect the battery and put out the small flame before it grew. It took like 10 minuets for the fire truck to get there. It blew my mind. Then I realized it’s because I called 911. Always have your local emergency numbers saved for fastest response time.
Willie,
agreed, nice comment.
I seen the whole thing from the bridge and it was not because he was going to fast. He took the exit to soon and flipped. None of that matters it was an accident and he is a human and got hurt I hope he’s okay my prayers are with him and his family.
Is there construction in that area?
No
