Three Humboldt County Residents Test Positive Today; Six Out of County People Also Test Positive

Press release from Humboldt County COVID-19 – Joint Information Center:

Three additional Humboldt County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing to 157 the total number of residents who have contracted the virus. Six additional people tested positive but were here visiting family and friends and do not reside in Humboldt County. These six cases are not included in the county’s total.

Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich pointed out that although these cases will not be reflected in the total case count, they further emphasize the need to adhere to safety measures, including maintaining social distancing and postponing or canceling non-essential travel.

“Each one of us can make choices to lessen the impacts of this pandemic,” Dr. Frankovich said. “Each one of us can choose to wear a facial covering when we leave our household. Each one of us can choose to stay home rather than attend a celebration or gathering. Our community is resilient when we work together, and that commitment to each other has never been more important than it is now.”

Brace yourselves people. Willie may be right. And if he is we are in trouble. Interesting story with excerpts below.

Is COVID-19 Even Subject to Herd Immunity

https://abcnews.go.com/US/vaccine-reach-herd-immunity-scientists/story?id=71662733

“While the world anxiously awaits a vaccine, the length and durability of the protective immunity it would provide is far more in doubt than one might think.

A new study from China shows that antibodies can disappear in two to three months. The study further found that immunity is shorter for asymptomatic patients than symptomatic ones: The less symptomatic a person is, the weaker the immune response and antibody strength. “Young people who have mild disease or asymptomatic disease, their antibodies may never rise very high,” said Sankar Swaminathan, chief of infectious diseases at the University of Utah. “We don’t even know if those antibodies are protective.”

“It isn’t a uniformly robust antibody response, which may be a reason why, when you look at the history of the common coronaviruses that cause the common cold, the reports in the literature are that the durability of immunity that’s protective ranges from three to six months, to almost always less than a year,” Fauci said in an interview with JAMA Editor-in-Chief Howard Bauchner.

While it’s still unclear whether or not a person can get infected with COVID-19 more than once, the limited durability of immuno-protective IgG antibodies may suggest an answer the world does not want to hear.

Wouldn’t that put the efficacy of a vaccine in doubt?

researcher,

If you persist in quoting scientific facts from the Chinese Communist Party, you will risk complete ridicule for aiding and abetting our proven Corona 19 enemy. There’s plenty of friendly sources available.

Try to understand, we’re in this pandemic because of the enemy.

It s true that research originating from Chine must be subject to extra scrutiny, but no we are not in a pandemic because of “the enemy” (China). This is the case even if the virus escape the international ran lab in Wuhan. The majority of the impact faced by the US can be squarely placed on the current presidential administration, and Americans cultural attitude of individualism.

I was actually being a bit light hearted since so many jumped on Willie when he first proposed this idea. But the article doesn’t just focus on the Chinese report. Most of it centers around what Dr Fauci is saying which is the same thing. Scientists have serious doubts about a vaccine working for a lengthy period of time.

Were in this because were a nation of out of shape, unhealthy, overweight, self centered wont wear a mask to save others besides themselves ignorant people. 80% of the people I come across are overweight, fast food guzzling sit on their cell phones do not exercise people. This shit is hitting us hard, because it hits unhealthy overweight people. WE are our own enemy!

Not necessarily but absolutely possibly. The ways that the immune system is trained with a vaccine can be more effective at conferring immunity than an infection. It is possible that this says something about the efficacy of a potential vaccine but we cannot know yet.

Under 70 years of age the infection death rate (IFR) is at flu levels according to the latest from Stanford Professor Dr. Scott Atlas.

FOX News might not be your best — most accurate — source of information about COVID or anything else.
They manage to politicize everything they touch and last time I heard FOX News staff was still implying the COVID is just a Democratic Hoax to stop what’shisface from being re-elected.
I’ll stick to listening to scientists NOT on FAUX News. Thanks.

Where are the statistics you would suggest we use for reference?

Here’s something I found, but it’s almost a month old.

He invalidates his opinion when he claims that because case numbers having been increasing for 3 weeks but the death rate has not, we should not be concerned. Even non-experts understand the lag between increasing case numbers and increasing deaths.

He is either phenomenally stupid or being intentionally deceptive.

Researcher- thanks for your thoughts. The fact is we don’t know a lot about this virus. I’m still not excited about catching this virus and I won’t be going to any corona parties.

“Not knowing” is not the same as “not having”. “Not knowing” means that scientists have not yetestablished scientific proof. There are other means of gaining immunity other than antibodies. T-cells are another kind of immunity. ““We found that the T cell response doesn’t appear to be short-lived, and it was a good, robust response that looks similar to responses to other viruses,” said Alessandro Sette, an immunologist at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology in California who worked with Crotty on the research.” https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/can-our-immune-system-remember-the-coronavirus-scientists-hope-so/ar-BB16gwpc And Tcells can be the basis of a vaccine.

If there were no immunity created by covid-19 recovery, it would be clear by now with a much, much larger reinfection rate than the normal one seen in the few people who do not develop immunity in any illness. That scientists have not yet “proved” it does not mean it’s not there.

I question, are the six people related to the three locals??? So did they bring it with them or get it here???

Learn to live with this like the flu and the common cold (a corona virus too). Get in with life, keep the economy booming, support and shelter the at risk population.

Shelter if you desire. End the draconian lockdown orders nobody, including government employees, is obeying.

It would be helpful if there was more attention paid to living with a pandemic and less focussing on trying to eliminate it. Dr. Frankovich talked about not trying to eliminate it (as it’s not possible)but talking about the actual coping with getting infected is not mentioned. As if not talking about it keeps it from happening. Along with advice on avoiding should come advice on what to expect if infection does occur. What supplies should be on hand to cope with being sick. Timeframes. When to go to the hospital. Etc.

If you catch the Covid CDC says just stay home for two weeks. If it was deadly would they say that?

Yes. It’s to protect others. Try to get your arms around that concept.

🕯🌳They have not eliminated the flu,yet every year they offer a you a vacation and tell you it may or may not work for the strains that are going around that year. The same thing will happen with this virus, they have yet to find the right RNA just like the flu it’s a shot in the dark.🚑🚑🚑

Hooray for Willie! Probably what’s going to happen. Unfortunately probably not until the pandemic is mostly over.
