This afternoon, a low-flying helicopter is working over the Miranda/Myers Flat area. According to a reader, under the nose of the chopper are letters that say  PG&E and under the middle, there are letters saying “Patrol.”

One person reports the helicopter has the tail number of N85PJ which is the same as that of a helicopter likely working for PG&E last year in August.

A helicopter just circled a few times around all of the grows above the Dinsmore Store. It sure doesn’t look like the PG&E heli.

These PG&E Patrol helicopters (identical model, different tail number at least on the one I saw) have moved to Arcata and the surrounding area over the past week. Looking it up, they’re inspecting the high-voltage lines to determine need for PSPS shutdowns this summer.

They flew the hell out of Fickle Hill outside Arcata yesterday. A friend of mine up there with horses let me know it got her horses worked up, one bolted. Luckily that horse did not end up damaged. She said they were flying repeated patterns tree-top level with some hovering. She never received a call or letter from PG&E and is pretty pissed off. This could have been the same helicopter in the lower photo- white w/ a blue stripe and a red stripe, no identification from below, no number on tail, box on the front that sometimes shot a white pulse of light.
