Flat Fire Is 65 acres and 50% Contained

The Flat Fire is holding at 65 acres and is now 50% contained. Current resources fighting the Flat Fire include 3 – Type 1 Hotshot crews, 1 – Type 1 Initial Attack (IA) Crew, 3 – Type 3 Engines, a Tactical Water Tender, 2 – Type 2 Helicopters, 1 – Type 1 Helicopter, Mountain Medics and 2 – Line Safety Officers. Handline is complete around the perimeter and hand crews are starting to mop-up 100 ft back from the perimeter into the burn. incident/6815/. Westbound lane of Hwy 299W will remained closed to one lane traffic between the hours of 6:30am – 8:30pm thru Tuesday, July 7, 2020. Expect 5-10 minute delays. Burnt Ranch Campground remains- closed for firefighters use. All other campgrounds on 299W are open.
As a reminder, the Shasta-Trinity National Forest has enacted fire restrictions to protect the health and safety of employees and communities until further notice. Outside of developed campgrounds and certain permitted facilities and areas, igniting, building, maintaining or using a fire on national forests in California will be prohibited. Forest Service officials are taking this necessary step to ensure that firefighters are available to safely respond and manage incidents. 95 percent of all wildfires in California are human caused.
Fireworks are always prohibited on National Forest System lands.
