The Lost Dogs of SoHum

The Lost Dogs of SoHum

Four dogs found in Southern Humboldt are hoping their loved ones come collect them from the Humboldt County Animal Shelter located in McKinleyville.

The one with the brown eyebrows on the left has been at the shelter since June 23 and was found in Southern Humboldt. Click this link to see more.

The other three were found of Hwy 101 near Benbow on June 25.

The one on the top is known at the shelter as ID#A096892. He is a male, black and white Dachshund mix that the shelter staff think is about 5 years old.

The one on the far right is known at the shelter as ID#A096893. She is a female, black and white Labrador Retriever mix that the shelter staff think is about 1 year and 6 months old. Click this link to see more.

The one in the middle on the bottom is known at the shelter as ID#A096894. He is a male, black and tricolor German Shepherd Dog that the shelter staff thinks is about 1 year old. Click this link to see more.

Please call the Shelter and let them know if your dog is pictured here. Give them your dog’s name and your name and contact information. Be prepared to show proof of rabies or the Shelter will need to get a rabies shot before they can leave the Shelter. Bail money will need to be paid by cash or check as the Shelter does not take credit cards.

Take the exit to the McKinleyville airport and follow the blue signs to the Shelter.

Please call ahead of going to the Shelter, and remember that the Shelter is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

For more information about these dogs, call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Animal Shelter at (707) 840-9132. Ask for information about each animal using their ID number. The Shelter’s new phone system is not taking messages so folks need to email [email protected] if they can’t speak to someone in person.

I heard the shelter is having issues with their new phone system and the can not retrieve voicemails. They prefer emails after hours…. I don’t know the email though. Just read this in on of their recent FB posts

We have a dog that’s afraid of loud noises. He likes it if we run the clothes dryer to generate background noise.

That’s a good idea. Or television with volume up?

I got “Thundershirt” for my shepherd afraid of noises and lots if general anxiety Really works and after awhile she became brave enough to not need except in extreme situations. Awesome for dogs with anxiety.
Well worth the $$

We use this too. Definitely helps our guy. Can be hard to get it on him if he’s already scared. It’s easy if we can plan ahead. I think it’s comfortable. He likes it.

I think we got XL. L would be better for our guy. He is about 70 lbs. If you’re not sure on size, I’d go lower vs higher.

Yep .. size L is just right for our 70-75 lb dog.
Good idea to get them used to it before they need it. Once they start shaking, they’re in such a weird zone they can’t cooperate much. But what a difference! Couldn’t believe it would actually work.

thanks for showing a variety of animals in need of homes. I was thinking for awhile the shelter was getting one animal at a time. Thanks Kym.
