More humbodtians died of the flu this year, how come we never tested and tracked the flu like this? What would flu numbers be? We were taught to stay home and weather the flu, how many were really infected every year.

🕯🌳Because we sort of have cures for the flu not this virus. Come this winter (it could) get worse. 🚑🚑🚑🚑

There is no cure for any coronavirus other than taking care of your immune health.

There is no cure for the flu either. There are things that help from getting really sick from it and a flu shot can set up your own system to the same. There is the same learning curve going on right now for covid-19. But lots of people do die from the flu- last flu season 25 to 60 thousand did die despite treatment and that was a relatively light season.

There is data from Italy showing a strong correlation between people who got flu shots and people who became very sick with this corona virus. And yes, it was properly controlled.

If you are generally maintaining your health then you will not have any difficulty with “covid-19.” That is a simple, easy and true fact.

What we have right now are a bunch of unhealthy people who want to drag down the entire society with them rather than lose weight, eat properly, or just stay at home while the plague is passing through town.

They are 90.. They may be healthy but they are 9p and close to death.. Cancers and such happen all the time.. What is healthy? Did he eat processed food? Did he exercise? Did he drink?

You’re starting to sound like me… This probably means you should go enjoy some outdoor recreation and let Matt write the stories for today. I know I wish I could spend today taking a nice hike…

You can’t compare the two like that because you don’t know what the death toll would have been if we didn’t SIP. It’s a Catch-22.

Oh in that case we better destroy the livelihood of half the state. Do you not see how absurd your position is? You will very soon when the consequences of your foolishness set in.

You don’t know my position because I never stated it and never will. I was just pointing out a fact. Unless the circumstances are identical then you can’t make a comparison.

At least have the decency to admit your position openly instead of trying to hide under a figleaf.

It is very clear that this is a standard corona virus and does not have magical abilities others do not. It is potentially very harmful to the old and unhealthy. For non seniors and the healthy there is nothing to be concerned about.

If the above strikes you as wrong in some way it is because you read media that lies to you. All of this is well-understood. Please understand that I am just trying to share the good news. It is not necessary to live in fear from this virus.

Yeah Kym you said it. Healthy people who take pride in their health and make sure that they eat right and are not overweight are having our lives wrecked because of all the people who decided that a cheeseburger tastes better than a celery stick and made that choice over and over. Guess what? A cheeseburger tastes way better than celery or carrots but I only eat them here and there because over time they are detrimental to my health. I know there are diseases that come about and kill unhealthy people all the time, thats why I chose to be healthy. How is it in anyway fair that because 45% of the population eats like shit or doesn’t take care of themselves, I have to shutter my business and go bankrupt? You tell me to wear a mask? How about we make a deal, y’all unhealthy people start jogging and eating right and I will wear my mask, seems like a fair trade. Otherwise, shove it, your time of reckoning is here, deal with the consequences of your unhealthy choices and I will deal with my consequences of not wearing a mask.

Life is a dangerous game. There is no guarantee of survival. Nobody is dealt a fair hand. They should take care of themselves and shelter in place and I will take care of myself and run everyday and eat homegrown veggies and home shot meat. Besides, you trying to live forever or something? As far as your 90 year old aunt goes, she has lived longer than the majority of people on this planet will ever live, isn’t it kind of selfish of her and society to force me to shut down my business and go bankrupt and pretty much screw my life up for the next 30 years just so she can live 3 more? Isn’t this all about not being selfish? I’m sorry about your cousin with brain cancer and your other cousin’s kid with a genetic disorder, but brain cancer is usually terminal and if he is going through chemo he shouldn’t be going out anyway because he has no white blood cells to fight off any infection, much less covid or the flu. As to the young-in, a genetic disorder doesn’t mean he is at any more risk than I, it depends on what kind of genetic disorder he has. If he is immunocompromised, flu season is just as deadly as anything.

As far as touching on people’s health issues and wearing a strip of cloth for them, the majority of people have health issues due to being unhealthy. I will not wear a mask for them just because they chose to be unhealthy anymore than CalFire, PGE, the sheriffs, or the nat’l guard will stop flying their helicopters over my house even though I have severe PTSD from fighting for our country. Do I ask them to stop? No. Do I ask my neighbors to stop shooting their guns even though it has cause an episode for me here and there? No.

When you start to cater to me for choices that I made, I will start to cater to other people for choices that they have made.

Wade Harris has most likely killed more people in humboldt than the coronavirus so far, and y’all don’t care about that enough to keep him in jail, but let’s panic over this.

its seems like most commenters don’t understand how isolated we are. Humboldt is not on the way to anywhere and no one really comes to Humboldt. we are fortunate to have such low numbers. I have friends in other States that are seeing huge spikes, like 100-200 a day spikes. this virus will eventually make it to every nook and cranny on this rock so brace yourself.

We only have 140,000 people in Humboldt county and we’ve already had 4 deaths in just 3 short months. All 4 were in one nursing home. It’s so bad we went to mandatory face masks today, anytime we can’t maintain 6′ apart indoors or outdoors. Good move.

Over 40,000 UK workers are now taking Hydrochloroquine proactively … and I bet many government figures and healthcare workers in the US as well.

How do we stop another economic shutdown and stop the Covid wave2 from happening?

Demand HCQ (+ Zinc). The 128th most prescribed drug in 2017 study … over 5 million prescriptions in U.S.

It can be taken proactively … ask your doctor.
Know your medical rights.

Except studies are repeatedly showing it has no benefit, and is likely significantly harmful. In fact, the best study on it had to be stopped early because it was no longer ethical to be giving it to patients, with all the results showing it was harmful.

Well, I and my family wear a mask when we go out, however people wearing fit-bit say that wearing a mask increases their heartbeat. Might not be so good for folks with arrhythmia.
I know I get a suffocating feeling from masks, can’t wait to get to my car and get it off!
5 months of this is a long time, but I am concerned for the sick & elderly so I wear one even if it only comforts them.
I’m also fed up with orders from the various gov. officials that are much like watching kids play with a yo yo.

I share that sentiment about wearing a mask. I do it because it might make others feel safer although I also keep reminding myself that it does not make me safe either. A sort of confused doublethink. But I did enjoy the moment when someone’s utter foolishness made me grin and realized suddenly they could not see that I was laughing at them so I didn’t have to suppress it .

This virus will keep spreading- slowly with all the restrictions, faster without them. And the longer it goes on, the more likely I will stop being cautious
