Gasquet Ranger District Hosting Pre-Fire Season Meeting June 18th
This is a press release from the Six Rivers National Forest:
With summer upon us, the Six Rivers National Forest’s Gasquet Ranger District / Smith River National Recreation Area is gearing up for the 2020 fire season. If you are interested in finding out what this fire season might look like, the district is hosting a public meeting to discuss the upcoming season.
The meeting will be held from 10AM to noon, on Thursday, June 18, at the Gasquet Ranger District administrative site located at 10600 US Highway 199, in Gasquet, California. The meeting, which will be held outdoors to ensure adequate social distancing, will focus on the forest and district perspectives and preparations for the 2020 fire season.
According to District Ranger Jeff Marszal, “With everything that’s going on these days, we wanted to ensure everyone—our communities, our stakeholders and our visitors—that we’re prepared for this fire season. This is an opportunity for us to share the outlook for this fire season, and to highlight all the preparations we’ve been making to ensure a safe season for our firefighters and our communities.”
