At approximately 7:30 PM on June 8, 50 to 100 shots reportedly rang out near Crawford Road and Biggar Lane in Covelo, California. Tribal police and Mendocino County Sheriff deputies responded to the scene.

According to Mendocino County Sheriff Matt Kendall, deputies responded to a “large scale marijuana grow with numerous hoop houses.” Two individuals were detained in association with the gunfire and a firearm was confiscated, he told us.

Tribal police provided support to sheriff deputies, he said.

He reported deputies are searching the location for victims and “no bodies and no blood” have been found. He emphasized this was preliminary information.

Seriously, Willie? You’re saying you haven’t twigged to this? Maybe you actually believe it. Well, allow me to set you straight. Two years ago California issued its one millionth driver’s license to an undocumented immigrant (and of course, with it came the form for voter registration). Under present day California law, as part of their civil rights protection, illegals can receive IDs that give the name of a California town as their home. So, even if someone from, say, Zacatecas has been living in L.A. for two years, a year, a few months, before moving up to Covelo, their ID will say they are from L.A. So, are they “from California”, do you think, or are they illegal immigrants from Zacatecas? I guess you get to decide which. You also get to decide if you think they should have the right to vote. But it matters not if you don’t think they do. They get to.

Looks to me like the jury’s still out on this, Kym. https://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-government/capitol-alert/article223886630.html
I would love to believe it’s not true, because I don’t believe noncitizens, anywhere in the world, should be allowed to take part in a country’s vote; if I were living in Germany or Venezuela or Vanu Atu, even for the rest of my life, I wouldn’t dream of taking part in their election process unless I had become a citizen. It’s just not right, in my opinion. But I have seen, with my own eyes, voter registration forms arrive, in too many instances, from the DMV, Dept. of Social Services, etc. And faking that paperwork is all too easy. However, it’s not all that new -https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right_of_foreigners_to_vote_in_the_United_States

You get too far down the rabbit hole of “it would be so bad if…” but the truth is you can’t easily vote illegally. Just try it. if it’s so easy, you could demonstrate to the rest of us bleeding heart pansies. Go get a fake ID using the name Juan Valdez, and vote. Let us know how easy it was for YOU. Skip the Trump2020 talking points.

So who is going to be called when all the police are fired, or defunded? If there are no cops, there is no John Ford, as he would have no way to enforce his abatements. Who could he send to enforce any violation? . No cops, so the satellite array for spying on pot growers could be taken out, and no one to stop them. Who would the people in Covelo have called instead? No Fish and Game, no code enforcement, no water board to worry about. Grow baby grow, no cops, no enforcement.

Nobody serious is calling to eliminate police funding. Tanning Bunker News is grasping at what a few lefty goofballs are saying. The realistic approach is to stop funding ANYTHING a police dept. wants first, at the expense of other government funding. Since 9-11, police depts. have been wasting money on expensive military equipment, that they don’t use. In Humboldt for instance, get rid of the armored personnel carrier, but keep the snow cat. Humboldt Sheriffs rarely drive through Falujah, but rescue someone lost in the snow at least once a year.

Hah, three different firearms. Sounded like a war zone. But maybe it was just a celebratory burst to kick off the festivities now that Sheriff’s Deputy Trent James is leaving. He has had enough. Not enough real support, a job that must be just delightful af, and then he gets accused by a certain segment (I name no names) of “harassment” when he does horrible, brutal things like recover stolen goods from the perps by going to see them and saying okay, guys, c’mon – just hand the stuff over. Tsk, tsk!
This song certainly sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
He was smart, he was effective and he was chill. He possessed integrity and was dedicated to helping the community. For a LEO, that can get you in deep water here, it would seem. Jesus Christ. Talk about the Village of the Damned.
Well, shit. I get it, Trent. You do what you have to do, man. And you will be missed.
As for Round Valley – oh, hey, it’s time to par-TAY! Are you listening, Sheriff Kendall?

Well, yeah. The official post can’t be too negative. And no doubt there was more than one factor involved in his decision. But we spoke with him personally, and he opened up quite a lot. That man had a hard row to hoe here, though he loved the valley and many of her people. A lot of folks are sad, but then admit their surprise that he lasted as long as he did. That should tell you something. And to those outside of Round Valley reading this, well, with all due respect, if you don’t live here, haven’t lived here, there’s no way on God’s green earth you could ever truly understand this place. And everyone here would agree on that, take my word for it. I’ve lived here for 27 years and I still shake my head in wonder. “The most beautiful and dysfunctional place on Earth”, as my dear friend, the late Dr. Laura Viromontes, used to put it. She was right.

Bullets are expensive and a little hard to get sometimes glad everybody’s got money to burn on that BS. I guess a few less pairs of Rock Revivals at Christmas isn’t that bad . A Thug’s a thug no matter the drug. Thug life is a popular facebook app as a joke but is it? Living your life in jail, or in fear those seem to be the choices for the Covelo crews. So many people turn up missing at the end of the year never collect any paychecks is it worth it? Probably not I’ve crunched the numbers six ways to Sunday and those people that bust all those hours on the field or in the greenhouse or in the trimming room if you’re getting paid hourly you’re making pennies on the dollar. But being handed all that tax free cash seems like it’s a lot more. The whole Industries pretty much smoke and mirrors at this point. You could earn a few thousand bucks working at McDonald’s just as easy with a lot less stress

Hahaha… That’s a crock of shit. I have traveled the emerald triangle for over 10 yrs. Go to new farms every year and been all over these hills out here. 90% of farms are super awesome very nice people. Usually people just trying to be free and live a way that works for them. Super awesome people.
A very small portion are dangerous or scary people. The media just makes it out a lot lot worse than it is because it’s always been an industry they saw as an enemy.
Other than the rare 10% of crazy farms then the only bad shit that happens on a farm is backwoods justice to a p.o.s. and we need more of that in the world.
The people in small backwoods communities have always governed themselves. We don’t need any dam cops.

100% Agree Country Grown, Backwood Freedom ha ha ha I’ve traveled the Emerald Triangle for 40+ years!…In Covelo a site like that is not the “norm” If you don’t have million-dollar backers and you just have the cartel coming in and they flash and maybe 30-40 Grand at you you take that, or they say we will pay you at the end when we sell. Which the second option often has real bad outcomes for the land owner. Next, once they are in they just blow it up and cut every tree down. Let piles and piles and piles of garbage build up all over your property, miles water pipe and then take off dont pay the landowner, act like the crop got robbed, but it didn’t. Landowner so pissed they 86 them but in the network it gets passed on to their friend the next year for a new shit show. They started possibly under the guise of a permit at some point in time but then things just got wildly out of hand. A lot of the permitted grows in Mendo get their permits and then blowout Way Beyond the permitted plan . But they don’t always go back and check for continued compliance . All of this non-permitted activity hurts everyone good bad and ugly. The thing is all those non-permitted grows hugely impact the permitted grows because then they can’t sell their product because they have to charge more due to fees etc. So that makes the black market continue to rule. Many dispensaries in fact I’ll pop this bubble here and park it for a minute purchase product on the black market to sell it at the dispensary for a far higher profit . Why it’s so lucrative to pull these shenanigans. But the quality of the weed that’s growing at a large portion of these grows like that do not equal a permitted grows weed. Over fertilized , too much nitrogen, spider mites, spray it all down with Coco wet whatever fungicide you want disgusting . So then those folks who thought they were going to make a bunch of money growing weed barely have enough to pay the landowner at the end. That’s where the shooting starts. Dont forget your popcorn.

Backwoods Freedom that is a good start. From Island Mountain, to Hippie Rock, Hull’s Valley, to Hale’s Grove, out by Inglenook, out the 175, the 36, 199, Hayfork to boot, it’s a big area to run around on! I am at 40 + years in the Emerald Triangle for me. Here’s the thing here’s one of the tactics that they use particularly in Covelo or other kind of remote areas. They will wander up your driveway pretend like they’re lost or see if you want to rent your property. You tell them no but they enter into a conversation with you and at the end of it all somehow they convince you to let them grow there and they’re going to pay you some money. Landowner thinks. Great way to pay my taxes and maybe do a few improvements. I know one right now that I’m working on remediation for landowner older disabled, the money was flashed the young guys were funny engaged with some humor promise the moon and stars. Land owner bit said go for it. Dep got busted with over 500 plants Fish and Game, DEA, Sheriff’s, at land owners door asking them what’s going on and they have no clue. Left holding the bag. The Charming guys nowhere to be found. This happens more often than you realize. And as far as compliance goes on the grow sites they may get their permits but nobody stays compliant after the permits pulled it blow it out even bigger. Compliance or annual checks are not often done.
