[UPDATE 9:50 a.m.] Vehicle Overturned on Hwy 101 by Miranda; Traffic Diverted

Crash map QuickMap

The red lines on QuickMap show that traffic is impacted in both directions.

Traffic is temporarily being diverted off Hwy 101 and across the Salmon Creek exit and onramp near Miranda after a black Nissan Rouge hit the guardrail and overturned about 8 a.m., according to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page.

An ambulance was called to the scene as an occupant had a head injury.

There is quite a bit of debris in the roadway and Caltrans was dispatched over the scanner to deal with a large area of torn up guardrail.

UPDATE 9:50 a.m.: The CHP page is reporting that the patient received minor injuries. It also reports that both northbound and southbound lanes are open.

I thought it was a Chevy driver who was too cavalier.

Water pools on the roadway on that stretch, hydroplaning is common

So is speeding. Every time I travel through I set the cruise on 55 or 65 depending on the current speed limit. I get passed like I’m standing still regularly. People drive fast and stupid. Even worse in bad weather.

There is a scientific formula for hydroplaning. It is based on tire pressure, weight of vehicle and speed if I remember correctly.

My comment originally included the sentence, “slow the f%#k down” but was apparently edited. Perhaps my changing it a bit will make it past Kym☺

I believe cruise control can also be a factor to hydroplaning. Should not do it in rain
