About 8:24 p.m., a dispatcher sent officers to a possible armed home invasion in the 3100 block of Glen Street in Eureka. Reportedly, a man in the home had managed to text his mother that armed men were in the home and robbing it.

She contacted 911.

Officers responded and suspects fled the home. “Runners out the back,” an officer relayed over the radio at 8:37 p.m.

By 8:46 p.m., officers were reporting they had five people detained. Officers are searching the area around the home and questioning those detained.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

UPDATE 9:25 p.m.: We’re not sure of the details and EPD is busy with the protest and unable to answer questions right now.

We believe no one was arrested and this may have not been as originally reported.

Thanks for the clarification which is duly noted.

Thus, I politely point out to you that “rules” is plural, so “Here are” should be used instead of “Here’s”. FYI.

Ok. First world (actually second world the accepted term if you are so parochial) problem no.1- enough education exists in the US for the uninformed to write a comment but not enough to make them aware of the rest of the world, human nature or history. Read on some foreign news outlets, not just what the US press wants. Many places have local news in English for your edification. Not to tell you what to think but to offer information you can use to do your own thinking.

[edit] Look at the color of the officers! This isn’t some race riot. Half of them are people of color.

1- justice for Freddy
2- by your rational 1 bad egg spoils the whole basket! There for as you put it one person of color drug dealer makes all people of color drug dealers?? Just trying to see it through your eyes because most rational people judge an individual on his actions not on his peers action.
And the fact is (like it or not) there are more drug dealers of color than racist cops!
Let be part of the solution not the problem

Shut up,
many of the protesters were white.

Turn off the tv, go back to the Bay Area, leave eureka alone.

Alf,
yep,
I honestly think some of the mob were among the criminals let out of prison due to covid, and they didn’t appear to be local.

We have enough local criminals.

The problem is the corporations, not something in Humboldt.

Thank you epd!

We need our local cops.

I appreciate the right if the protesters to assemble as long as they don’t intimidate our local officers, they stay out of the street, they don’t vandalize, and any violence from the protesters and they will be asked to leave the protest.

Yes I agree. Police are essential. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. We need to make sure the people, the community is the boss, not the police. We pay their salary.

Really?

If people are lawless, drug ridden and violent, it is stupid to expect the police to be pretend they are otherwise. Certainly those are not the ones paying the police salary. The ones doing the paying are the ones the criminals are preying upon.

You know the chubby dark one had a hard childhood being made fun of, that’s great that they give the out of shape completely obese people a shot at arresting somebody too. The only one in shape is the skinny black cop.. a new rule has to be passed by law saying at a certain point of body fat percentage you are now on mandatory leave until your physician says otherwise, we have no room for out of shape wing eating ranch dipping, soda guzzling out of shape junkies within a police department.. nothing to do with discrimination just absolute health and safety of our community and maybe the own safety of the obese officers themselves.. this is a huge problem across America

She’s not the only chubby officer on the scene. Why did you single her out?

There has to be new laws that being obese as a public servant is forbid, and one must be able to run atleast 2 miles in 14 minutes and bench press atleast minimum there own body weight and atleast be able to pull there own body weight via chin up 10 times… do we really want people who cant even run a mile on a treadmill defending our community lmao. New world order coming to a town near you.. that chubby officer looks like she should be running her own wing joint and offering baskets of fries to her customers not trying look tough when your softer than the pillsbury dough boy.

None of them are wearing masks. So they don’t care, think they’re immune, too hard to breathe?

Outdoor spread is very limited. Outdoor spread during brief contact is almost non-existent.

The police came to the aid of a citizen in danger of an armed robber, those criticizing the cop’s appearance do not sound like the usual commenters.

Maybe the ones making the ad hominem attack are some of the ones from outside of this area that came to violently protest and wreck the town.

If the call was not as described, why did 5 people run out of the back and try to flee police? They were up to something..has EPD had enough time to update this story? It’s in my neighborhood..
