Man Arrested for Fort Seward Burglary

This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Jordan Marty Guthart

Jordan Marty Guthart

On May 22, 2020, Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 8500 block of Fort Seward Road in Fort Seward for the report of a residential burglary.

According to the victim, over the course of three days (May 20-22), three suspects were captured on surveillance footage accessing the property without permission. During this time, the three reportedly forced entry into multiple residences and shipping containers. The victim reported numerous firearms, two chainsaws and a large amount of cash missing from the property.

Upon further investigation, deputies identified one of the three subjects as 28-year-old Jordan Marty Guthart.

On May 23, 2020, deputies conducted a traffic stop and arrested Guthart on Redwood Drive near Evergreen Road in Redway. During a search of his vehicle, deputies located a burglary tool and over $26,000 in cash. Deputies then served a search warrant at a residence associated with Guthart. There, deputies located the victim’s stolen chainsaws and other personal belongings of the victim. Through additional investigation, deputies were also able to locate and retrieve several of the stolen firearms.

Guthart was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of grand theft (PC 487), burglary (PC 459.5), possession of stolen property (PC 496(a)) and driving with a suspended or revoked license (VC 14601.1(a)).

The two additional suspects are still outstanding at this time.

This case remains under investigation. Anyone with information about this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at (707) 268-2539.

That may happen when they are arraigned, which should happen today. In the 72+ hours they have to investigate the police can add more charges. The real crime is, the governor lowered all these bails so low, anyone can bail…

Seems like it would make sense to set a high bail and then waive it but if you’re re-arrested then impose the full amount.

Death penalty need reinstatement. And capital offenses should be expanded to include repeat child molestation and repeat burglary (and maybe people that don’t use their turn signals?) Why are good hard-working people needing to live under constant attack and criminals are let to roam free? The system is badly corrupted because our sympathies are with the wrong “victims”…

It’s smoothing the way for Socialism farce . All of what you see now. Criminals being let free and crime unpunished to baiting people with government subsidies such as unemployment and all this “free” money Ms Pelosi is handing out to to inflate the dollar. Renter and squatters rights to government cheese and anti-religion. It’s all in the plan and covid 19 is the excuse. Keep em down. Keep em quite. Keep em in fear. Give them free stuff and than blame the conservatives. This will all be the new norm if everyone of us is not careful. California is the poster child for “democratic socialism”. Look around you….. this is where this whole country is headed if we let it. You think that ruining a 22 trillion dollar economy while stripping peoples rights and bringing a whole country to its knees is not for political gain? This is not about salvation and a flu bug, this is control and politics. Period.

There was a time I would have dismissed what you said as a conspiracy theory. Not anymore. Idiocracy has arrived.

Well, don’t succumb to the idiots emboldened. Just because you hear it or think it, doesn’t make it so.
Democratic socialism isn’t here in California. Gavin Newsom is a hipster capitalist. He brought you Prop. 64. He’s cutting funding for seniors, and others according to another article here, with State Senator Jim Wood decrying the cuts as penny wise and pound foolish.
Far from the end of the world as we know it, the forces of capitalism are well oiled and running strong, and with each calamity, be it hurricane, flood, fire, Covid 19 or the financial crisis of 2008, money and power gets concentrated in the hands of the few while idiots argue about petty criminals like this one.

This boy man-child is the poster child of a system bought and sold to the rich.
I don’t say set him free. Just try and look at the bigger picture of how we got here.
Government only works for you when you participate. The rich know that. They do participate. There are WAY more of us poor MF’ers than them. Use your voice. Buy a Senator today! Vote!

Unfortunately there are many people in this country who cannot see this FOG. Most people will happily load themselves up into the trucks to head to the slaughter house while saying “Don’t worry, the gov’t is just doing it for the greater good, everything will be ok.” Was your freedom really worth $1200? I know mine isn’t.

Hmmm… interesting that he had $26,000 in cash in his vehicle.
He’s doing something else other than stealing chainsaws.

“28 years old” = Saturn return. When things in a persons’ life go through big changes.
Seems it will be true for him.
PS: Not sure that ‘Michael Jackson look’ (at least from his nose up) will bode well for him in prison.

Who really keeps 26k in their house and leaves for days ? That doesn’t make a lot of sense. Even though rip off suck, 2+2=7. Something just does not add up with this to me at all. Buy a better safe !

I’d wager more than half of the spots in the triangle has that much $ in the house at a time. If not, you really need to step your game up. What’s wrong with cash? Not everyone has sold their soul to the bullshit credit system. Fack banks, I’d take my chances with a five gallon bucket with vacuum sealed bags buried on my land than a bank. But…. that’s just me.

What doesn’t “make a lot of sense” about keeping cash in the safety of your sacred home? Where they supposed to take it with them? Go back and learn basic math if you can’t figure out 2+2. What doesn’t make sense to me is why these habitual thieving parasites that have zero value to our community or ecosystem are treated so delicately by our judicial system. If you mess up once, depending on the situation, maybe you get another chance. Become a repeat POS, now it’s time to get heavy handed. Stealing cash and other items is one thing, but this scum was getting firearms into the wrong hands and that perpetuates these POS violent potential actions. I would put their sorry asses on work detail and make them pay for their own stay in prison.
This guy is such a POS, he can’t even look at the camera.

Note: these are preliminary charges filed by the police to get an arrest warrant. The Humboldt DA who is an attorney will decide the final charges and notify the suspect during the preliminary hearing. There should be multiple counts for several of these charges.
