  • Total new confirmed cases—the number of test-confirmed positive cases since the previous report.
  • Total number of confirmed cases—the number of test-confirmed positive cases since the pandemic began, including people who have recovered from the illness.
  • Total number of hospitalizations—total number of people with confirmed cases of COVID who have been hospitalized since the pandemic began, including people who have been released.
  • Total number recovered—the number of confirmed cases who are no longer in isolation, meaning they have met Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) criteria for release, including absence of fever for at least three days without use of fever-reducing medicine, improvement in symptoms and have had seven days or more since onset of symptoms.
  • Total number of people tested by Public Health Laboratory—number of people whose sample was tested by the Humboldt County Public Health Laboratory.
  • Total number of people tested by all other sources—total number of tests performed by the CDC, the CDPH, LabCorp and Quest Diagnostics. Non-local labs have a slower turnaround time than our local lab.
  • Public Health Laboratory test capacity—the approximate number of testing kits that are complete and ready to be administered. This number is decreased by testing and increased as additional supplies are acquired.
  • Public Health Laboratory turnaround time—the estimated amount of time it takes per testing run. Each run can include up to 20 samples; multiple batches can be run each day.
  • Transmission data
    • travel-acquired—nationally, internationally or regionally

  • Gender—the gender of individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19. Total cases, shown by percentage.
  • Mean age—the average age of all the individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19. Average age is calculated by adding all the ages of individuals together and dividing by the number of cases.
  • Age Range—the number of total individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 grouped by age.
  • Test rates and confirmed case rates relative to the State of California—the number of tests performed per 100,000 people. Numbers of tests performed are provided by the Humboldt County Public Health Laboratory, LabCorp, Quest Diagnostics, CDPH and the CDC. Population estimates are based on data from the United States Census Bureau. Rates per 100,000 are calculated by dividing the total number of tests performed by the population of the jurisdiction and multiplying the result by 100,000.

These numbers just get worse .

I Was impressed with sylvandale gardens center doing business properly during a pandemic .;conversely I straight walked out of Amelia’s no employees in masks including the cook and they serve food -lost my business straight up and a lot of respect.if we all take little precautions-we help each other it’s a community thing . I guess some people just give zero fucks about the vulnerable and protecting the community.

I hope people will continue to take this seriously and take all the recommended precautions of staying home, social distancing, wearing masks and keeping contact with others to a minimum. The inconvenience of doing these things is very small really and may save others from serious illness or death.

So 52 of 91 positives are under the age of 50. A significantly higher percentage of younger positives are young. Be careful out there. Nobody is immune.

Where is there a place in Eureka/Arcata that has a good selection of masks for sale?

Have masks but they are uncomfortable and will be on coast Tuesday for doctors appointment that cannot be put off any longer.

🕯🌳I don’t think it’s personally about staying at home at this point but being more aware that this is real and to respect some of guidelines that have been laid out.🐸🖖🌍

🕯🌳Another good thing to kind of know to put a little water on a debate or just still leave it up for debate would be if any of these people are doubles. People that have gotten it twice?🌍🖖🐸The government just through out five testing kits that were to see if you had the immunity gene and I know they were using three of them here.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Someone getting it twice here would probably make national news, as indications so far are the vast majority of people have antibodies that prevent getting it twice, at least in the length of time so far.

🕯🌳There are no anti body’s that have found as of yet. The government just through out five test that where being used nationally because they were unreliable at finding any antibodies and would give false positives. Three were being used here and the sailors on the Roosevelt caught it twice.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

… Except they have found antibodies. And they’ve done animal studies showing primates develop resistance to it. And they’ve done an animal study showing one of the vaccines being developed causes primates to form antibodies.

🕯🌳Just watched a special on PBS that called that animal testing bullshit. Don’t trust alot of main stream news there just trying to look pretty for the cameras. But you can take bits and pieces and make some kind of coherent thought from it.🐸🖖🌍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

People who are not taking this seriously are bad for the economy. They are fucking it up for everyone else. This thing is serious, it’s not all about ‘you’ and how you’ll be fine; it’s about the society we live in. If you can’t be called into assistance when the country needs you, what kind of citizen are you? Paraphrasing a comedian I heard: the greatest generation was asked to go fight a war on foreign land, we are being asked to sit on our couch!

Yes. Exactly. There is a large overlap of people objecting to the economic impacts of shelter-in-place and those who don’t want to wear a mask because they want to be “free.” That mentality is epitomized by the two women who held the infamous sign that caused such fury over this last week. But getting everyone wearing a mask and using other preventive measures is the best thing we can do to get the economy moving again.

I haven’t been going to Amelia’s since way before the pandemic.
I’m surprised they are still even in business.

Still asking the “freedom” people to help protect our citizens !
Please wear a mask ! If you make me die you are taking away my freedom !

You are going to die. We all are. If you haven’t taken care of your body enough to fend off this disease, that’s on you. Maybe eating better and exercising should be your concern, not admonishing others for their differing opinions.

If you want to wear a mask and get deathly ill from breathing carbon dioxide, that is your choice. If you want to isolate at home and weaken your immune system, that is your choice. This is the United States of America, where we have the freedom of choice. No one is out to kill you with the virus. People want to live their lives not just exist. We need people to feel that they will not be judged for their decisions. If you don’t want to be around people that don’t have mask on then don’t go up and get in their face about it. Avoid them. Everyone has a right to their choice. Enjoy the weekend people
