Coast Guard Helicopter Flyover Planned at Two Northern Humboldt County Hospitals to Honor Essential Workers
Organizer Dennis Mayo of McKinleyville said this flyover is to honor “all the those working at pharmacies, grocery stories, garbage men, teachers, medical workers–honor everybody for staying the course.”
“We want it to be an uplifting thing for the community,” Dennis Mayo explained.
Coast Commander Kevin Barres said a helicopter will “do one or two loops at a safe altitude to let everyone know we’re thinking about them.”
He explained that Mayo had reached out after seeing the Blue Angels and others do flyovers nationwide to keep up the morale.
Barres said he spoke to his higher ups and they reached out to local fire departments and law enforcement who will be on the ground at the hospitals.
“It will be a single ship flyover,” he explained. “We’ll take a brief moment-five minutes in conjunction with a training flight” at each site.
Those nearby are welcome to fly their flags, applaud, and enjoy the flyover. We’ll have a photographer at the scene capturing images of the event.

Will the staff of the hospital post another racy dance video to 90’s rap online to show us all how overrun the hospital is with their 3 COVID patients?
I saw a BIG tow truck, with a CG Helicopter on the back, being escorted by the Highway Patrol on 101 today. Heading North by Sunset Ave. Is this related? Was hoping nobody crashed! COAST GUARD ROCKS!!!
Well, hopefully they haven’t laid everyone off yet, and someone gets to see the chopper or feel the building shake…
well done Dennis aka; mayor of Mckinleyville.
