what a waste of resources, how is there $ allocated for busting a small mom & pop backyard plants. As-if there’s a strong economy right now in the middle of a pandemic. I would of rather use taxpayer $ to grant a permit vs criminalizing a local citizen. Go after the real drugs in the County, plenty of heroin & meth users/dealers etc. to criminalize. How much did this raid cost? How much did everyone get paid for this tyranny? If they made the permit process doable for small gardens, more ppl would have a permit… but, obviously that’s not what our local gov’t really wants.

Half the people in Humboldt should just get up and leave right now. The County Enforcement is comprised thugs. Marijuana built our schools, homes, fire departments, businesses and the County just spits in our faces, cuts us down, kicks you off your land then tells you you can’t sleep in the park.

I don’t disagree with what you said, but as a weed-loving newbie to the ET it smacks of a regional geographical elitism that doesn’t exist in most other places.

The economic benefits that came here cuz of black market profits came at a cost to society by filling jails and prisons with tokers and small timers.

Timber and Fishing BUILT all your infrastructure, other than maybe your homes, which I doubt were even permitted properly. You Pot Clowns just jumped on the bandwagon and tried to claim it. Do Shit right and maybe they won’t bust your sorry asses.

Please illuminate why a bunch of settlers, the providers of said infrastructure (pre 96) and think they own the deed to the County, now?

See all the logging trucks up and down 101? All those rigs pay lots of taxes, fuel taxes, tire taxes, brakes, wear and tear. The workers in the mills make lots of money, which is taxed way more than they should be. The milled wood is sold, generating more taxes, right on down to retail and construction. Logging supports much of the infrastructure, as well as so many other things they support, little league, and so many others. Stop being such a smarty mouth, and look around. Are you doing all you can to serve and to work? Doesn’t sound like it.

This grower is staying but I do not damage my environment. I don’t like your stigma of growers either especially if it’s fueled by the federal lie the plant has no medicinal value. As far as lazy it is not a lazy man’s job and our worth is just as valuable as yours.

I agree, most people think cannabis built SoHum and are wrong. The timber industry definitely put Humboldt on the map, built the schools, homes and communities which was all here when I was born while cannabis wasn’t… If a person wants to grow then go thru the proper procedures, follow the laws and don’t cry if you get caught breaking the laws. I don’t necessarily agree with the cannabis laws here in Humboldt but it’s still law.

900 plants in a “backyard grow?

This is a commercial operation, over the line for size, and, a flagrant, obvious slap in the face of the current regulatory situation!

There is nothing about this operation that is a “family grow”. This is a good example of broken thinking, sheer opportunism, zero concern for the community, and, “fuck the neighbors”…

It’s unbelievable that people want to grow 500 pounds twice a year, within the limits of a small town, on a small property, and, that they get “outraged” about the “government” “law enforcement” and the “economy” of Humboldt County, when the operation is shut down… Clearly, this has been going on for some time, the growers are “professional grade”, and, they don’t care about anything besides how much money they will get for their flower…

Get a permit, pay your taxes, and, go farm some actual farmland! This is why there are laws, fees, and space requirements!

This property does not qualify for this much canopy! The end.

Ppl wanted/still want permits for 10-20 pound gardens! This would alleviate poverty and improve the county’s economic stability. Let’s elect leadership that will help our county, instead of this “I’m better than you” mentality that’s conflicting our county.

There is nothing about the Board of Supervisors that I like. Electing Estelle and Rex again is a huge mistake, but, Michelle Bushnell is not a decent choice, and, neither was Berkowicz…

There is little future, for non-permitted grows here, but, huge commercial operations, all over the state, look like unbeatable competition, especially when travel is regulated, and 30 million people are cut off from their livelihood.

There isn’t anything to like about our government, but, growing 900 plants on a small lot in a town, will just not work out for you!

Blaming “drug dealers” or promoting “20lb grows” is just nonsense. Pot should be grown by commercial, permitted growers, according to law and safety codes. Allowing everyone to do whatever they want within city limits, just isn’t possible.
Honestly, when I moved to Redway, I couldn’t believe what I saw there. After awhile, I stopped caring, but when my neighbor started building greenhouses out behind the house, I sold my house, and moved away… Something about watching the trees come down and the redwoods stripped of branches up to 100 feet, just makes me sick… Redway is a town, and it shouldn’t be used this way.

This property is probably 1/8 acre . I highly doubt they’re pulling 500 pounds in their backyard … twice . Those are small dep plants , sea of green style which is why they have high numbers and they could of had a clone room too.

All i see in one picture is a single green house . If i look on google earth i see a couple hoopers. 500 pound grow my ass

I had a permit, county said I couldn’t use that land after 2018 because of zoning. Bought AG40 land- 120k/acre , needed 10acre minimum. Realized cannabis is a complete waste of time and not enjoyable to “farm”. I have 20 plants in 1 gallon pots, completely flat land, prime soil, 13acre feet of water every 2 weeks but I don’t waste our resources on monocropping. Our farmland is surrounded by shitty dope growers, ruining our said top5 prime soil farmland with —- potting soil and raised beds. Farmers!! Hahahhahahaha! They wouldn’t know the first thing of farming. I give it to the family farms with 25 plants and a whole farm – not this 25 greenhouses of mids and completely disrespectful asshats.

Oh yeah, youre right, any other industry other than marijuana has been keeping every business in sohum filled with customers, we all been enjoy a stimulated economy that allowes us to charge a livable wage for our services because of logging, now that theyve been destroying the pot culture and forcing outlandish fines and taxes on even the legal grows we havent slowly watched business after business shut down in town and all of us havent slowly been losing our liveable wage and being forced into a state of financial decline. Its not because without illegal pot the government agencies have lost their funding and out sourced money tge same as the rest of us so the enforcent excentric by laws that are not nearly as heavily enforced in any other agriculture or for any other plant you might grow in your backyard and therfore have to take our money and create reasons for extra government funding that is otherwise unneeded to keep thier agency alive thus snuffing out the mom and pop livelyhood and as soon as tgey feel tgey have it drastically lower the standard and allpwing big money to crush tge industry demand, increasing money and power for those tgat had monet and power to begin with. No you’re right, the economy in southern humboldt county is not being devasted because we have logging and the pot industry hasnt been keeping most of us employed in one way or another. Its not that they should be shutting down hostile bulgarians and cartels that brought in human trafficking to boot but the “heros”on the force are too chicken shit tge go after them bacuse they are a real enemy and not the local mom using the money to pay for her kids to have a better life or a veteran trying to sort out a half decent life. As far as im concerned there is a line beibg drawn in this nation and youre choosing a side and it is not the side of freedom and free market so you go back and pay then 33% tax and let them let obvious monopolies continue to enslave the entire human population, but youre right, logging, thatll save us. Fuckin morons, heil hitler you redcoat comrades

I do. Bust them all. As a resident of Redway I’m pretty fed up with all of the commercial size pot grows I have to smell and see from my back porch. Why should this size of an operation in a non-ag zone be allowed any more than a commercial chicken farm is?

Greg

Even in an AG zone they shouldn’t do it, unless they know how to farm correctly. Period! How many raised beds, fabric pots, grow lights, loud music does your AG land need to have? Just this past week the neighbor has dumped 300yrds of potting soil on prime US AG land to spread out for raised beds. That’s a complete misuse and distruction of AG land.

A grow this size does not belong in a residential neighborhood. Period. This is a commercial operation in an area zoned for “medium density” residences (i.e, single-family structures on small town-sized lots). There’s no point arguing, in this context, about whether timber or cannabis has been more constructive/destructive to the area. You can’t harvest timber within medium density residential zones, either, unless you have a permit to remove a hazardous tree. If you want to grow cannabis on this scale, which is relatively small compared to industrial grows, but still clearly intended to bring in significant income, then go find an appropriate place outside town and get a permit.

It looks like the community is pretty divided on this, as it is in my town. On one hand you have very little real economy, so it’s hard to not want to make a little side money in your yard. The freedom to grow a plant in your yard seems pretty basic. On the other hand commercial activity that is illegal isn’t a good fit for a small town backyard, and it does bring in a criminal element, permit or no. The weed world is not as it used to be, in our county. The rosy picture painted by the permitted growers is not the reality I see nowadays. Even though I don’t live in Sohum, I have seen the downward spiral of a nice community, taken over by drug addled homeless and the most idiotic type of growers, in giant trucks with the pit bull in the back.
I think I’m on the side of getting rid of the weed at this point. People want to live here and have normal lives, and the weed game has just gotten stupider and stupider… to see people groveling for extra square footage at the planning dept is terrible, shoveling cash over the counter to our ‘cannabis planners’ for protection from the satellite images.
What a shit show
