Healy Senior Center Expands Food Delivery and Curbside Pickup Service for All Seniors From Pepperwood to Benbow

Healy Senior CenterPress release from the Healy Center:

The Healy Senior Center is expanding its food services throughout Southern Humboldt to support seniors living outside of the Redway and Garberville areas.

The Healy has been offering delivery of groceries as well as hot and frozen meals to people over 60 years old living in Redway and Garberville. It is now expanding this delivery service to all seniors living in Southern Humboldt from Pepperwood to the north, Benbow to the south, Shelter Cove to the west, Alderpoint to the east, and towns in between. Seniors can also order meals or groceries for curbside pickup at the Healy.

“We’re happy with the response from community volunteers who are ready to deliver food to seniors who need it. As long as our volunteers stay healthy, we’ll be able to accommodate seniors living in the outlying towns who need food delivery service,” said Nick Vogel, Interim Executive Director of the Healy Senior Center. “I’ve received calls from seniors living in the remote areas of Southern Humboldt, who wondered whether we could deliver to them because of their location. We want to let seniors know who are living out in these towns that yes, we are ready and able to help.”

The Healy’s food service is available to Southern Humboldt residents over 60 years of age, and seniors have the option of having their food delivered or ready for curbside pickup at the Healy.

To order hot and/or frozen meals from the Healy, call Samantha at (707) 923-2399, extension 3 or email [email protected]. Hot lunch orders should be placed before 10am. Hot lunches are $7.00 each. Frozen meals are $6.00 each. Curbside pickup or home delivery are free.

To order grocery service from the Healy, call Nick at (707) 923-2399, extension 4, or email [email protected]. Seniors are asked to reimburse the Healy Senior Center for the cost of the groceries. Curbside pickup or home delivery are free.

Seniors may request food service by sending a message to the Healy Senior Center via Facebook.

🕯🌳Even though it’s seems to have started off hitting the elderly the virus is now more likely to target ages 35 to 50 and males and people of color according to the CDC.🕯🇺🇸👍🏽🖖From the lips of Dr. Fausi.🖖🕯

Yes, but of all who catch it, apparently the percentage of fatalities rises with ages over 65 and something like 35% fatal in those over 80. Hence the extra caution.
