On April 7, 2020, at about 7 p.m., an off-duty Eureka Police Department officer contacted the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office to report seeing a known stolen vehicle parked on the 1400 block of School Avenue in McKinleyville.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to School Avenue and located the vehicle parked and occupied by a male subject, later identified as 27-year-old Little Eagle Moon. When deputies attempted to contact Moon, he fled in the vehicle, leading deputies on a brief pursuit before colliding with another vehicle on Central Avenue. The driver of the second vehicle was not injured in the collision.

Moon then fled on foot from the vehicle. Deputies pursued Moon on foot, taking him into custody a short time later.

During a search of the stolen vehicle, deputies located a loaded firearm, ammunition and a police scanner.

Moon was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. He was then booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on multiple felony warrants for charges of felon in possession of a firearm (PC 29800(a)(1)) and PRCS Revocation (PC 3455(a)), in addition to fresh charges of vehicle theft (VC 10852(a)), evading a peace officer (VC 2800.2), possession of a stolen vehicle (PC 496d(a)), felon in possession of a firearm (PC 29800(a)(1)), sale of ammunition to a minor (PC 30300(a)(1)), carrying a loaded firearm in a public place (PC 25850(a)), resisting arrest (PC 148(a)(1)), intercepting a police radio (PC 636.5), revocation of probation (PC 1203.2(a)), driving on a suspended license (VC 14601.1(a)), false evidence of registration (VC 4463), possession of marijuana by a driver (VC 23222(b)) and failure to stop at a stop sign (VC 22450(a)).

    Wooo Doggie!

Look at all of those new charges including sale of ammo to a minor. (Must have missed that part of the story.). This guy just got “taxed” mighty hard for not obeying the self-quarantine order.

  • …once we’re warriors ….

  • Sales of Ammo to a minor, intercepting a police radio, well there’s some charges I haven’t seen on here before.

  • beat ya—-Cite and release only -“no new inmates for the jail policy” so he’s walking fast and easy. Stupid policy. This piece of garbage should see his great great grandfathers.

  • EVERY FAMILY has a bad apple or two…So shame on you, where are your manners?

  • Sounds like a Moon used to beat you in high school. Grow some would ya

  • So he’s a felon with a warrant for being in possession of a firearm, while having a firearm? Take some more probation you California criminal.

  • So what happens now for the people with messed up vehicles? They have to deal with this hardship because of some lowlife? And all that the county will say is that it is a civil matter. Take the tweaker to court. Haha.[edit]

    • My wife is hurting, to be expected after such a bad hit. Were thankful she was in a subaru to survive .
Luckily we have good insurance but rates will most likely go up.
Police did not have lights and siren on while chasing the idiot bank robber.

He will probably be driving around tomorrow while we get stuck paying for his stupidity.

It would be to dangerous to incarcerate this gentleman since he can not be adequately socially distanced in our over crowded penal system. I’m sure that a public scolding will teach him his lesson. Meanwhile do you law abiding scum mind surrendering your constitutional rights? That wasn’t a question

  • Poor to no impulse control his entire life. Was the exact same when a teenager.
