You call everyone “Sid” who disagrees with you. Maybe various people- the good, the bad and the ugly- see similar things because these things exist. You confuse the use people make of these things with the things themselves and assign political agendas to inanimates .
Brian is often overzealous in his seeing Sid in commenters. But…in his defense, Sid delights in reappearing under multiple other names and then eventually, gets more and more obviously Sid until I have to delete them.
It’s a freaky and uncomfortable obsession. If they just wanted to comment here, the fake name would keep me oblivious but they can’t resist using key phrases and usually outright attacking Brian using the same manner as Sid. There are a number of other outlets to comment on, yet they have this weird oily, unctuous, obsessive behavior that makes me frankly very uncomfortable.

Then the only reason RHBB banned him again was because he commented on my comment about TRB’s Harassment and Bullying of Central. Sid had even agreed with RHBB.. That Central in a way was responsible for her actions.

SmallFry, I think you misremember the situation. You are correct Sid was originally banned because he impersonated Brian. However, you are incorrect that the only reason I banned him again was because he commented on your comment. Sid has been banned multiple times under multiple names (Sid’s pretty dang persistent. I think we’re at ban 7 or 8?) At this point, once I determine that a commenter is Sid, s/he is instantly banned. Because in all the other incarnations, I end up spending way too much time dealing and I find Sid’s behavior odd in a worrisome way.
S/he isn’t banned because of his/her viewpoints. S/he isn’t banned because of “TRB’s obsession with SiD.” S/he was banned and continues to be banned because Sid doesn’t care about the few rules I have and flouts them. I learned as a teacher to have few rules, to give people second chances if their infractions aren’t serious but…eventually, I’ve learned on this website that some people are just off mentally (and there is something about the way Sid behaves that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up) and no amount of treating him/her decently is going to result in him/her treating other commenters and me decently. So expending a lot of time on him/her is futile.
Now, Sid may be just having fun with this site. There may be nothing intrinsically wrong about obsessively finding ways to worm oneself back onto an obscure website when there are multiple other places to comment in the world in order to attack one person while being unctuous and flattering to everyone else until biting like a snake. But it’s my site, and I get to decide that I don’t need the hassle. And so I did.
To be convinced that the covid-19 virus made the rounds earlier, there would have to be a convincing argument as to why it didn’t wildly spread then in the way it has now and why there was not seen the hard evidence that virus left behind of a certain kind of lung damage on xrays
As for it being the reason why the figures are less then projected: 1) modeling is based on assumptions that need constant adaption when those assumptions prove untrue and 2) well wasn’t that the point of all this social distancing. Beside people do simply get thing wrong.

If you had a deeper experience of different cultures. you would know that not every country even considers honesty a principle to live by. In fact some cultures consider honesty to be anti social prefering a common convention of lying to lubricate social interactions and find excessive honesty both dangerous and stupid. Expecting the government to be honest and open is especially distasteful to some cultures where they prefer the government lies if telling the truth would be disruptive or dangerous. Assuming everyone shares the same principles is pretty parochial. Differences do not make another culture wrong- just different.

It’s a silly idea that calling someone else a racist means that the person calling out racism is not equally a racist. Most often what is meant by that call is that a person objects to another because they feel threatened or abused. Yet, if the abused feel able to target words based racial assumptions, then it certainly certifies the value of racism as a criteria, never to be ended. The only possible change that creates is which race is on top or bottom- a institutionalized battle.
Besides “Muslim” is not a race. It’s a religion. And, if history is an excuse for the speaker’s own bigotry, then there are centuries of history to affirm religious bigotry as equally valid. So does that then offer a bright future of excusing religious strife?

Almost very single human has an innate hierarchy of identification build into them. It starts as soon as a child can see likeness and dissimilarities. They can’t help it. It exists. What they can do is be realistic about it and refuse its imperatives as a conscious choice. So it requires discernment. No one can help their instict but they can temper it with higher reasoning.
That higher reasoning is absent in the idea that minority race attacks are ok because of the history of racism in this country is recorded by and in service of the majority. That idea just validates the necessity, the very idea, of race profiling, in the name of empathy. It’s offensive to the idea of a principle. It perpetuates the need for racial identification by forcing people to choose because there is automatic assignment in the very idea. And therefore it’s just as wrong to let TRB among others use white race as a criteria for attack as much as it is for any white supremacist. Call out one, call out the other. It’s not the idea that’s universally wrong but varying the standards of the idea to suit emotions.

I’ve heard that tone before frequently. I hear dispatchers and first responders over the scanner dealing with a bad situation move out of normal tones into almost an overly calm voice.
It is a waste of time to complain a public health official follows public health guidance from higher authorities. That is their job. That is the criteria for which they are held responsible.
