At approximately 7:55 p.m., dispatchers sent an ambulance and firefighters to a reported motorcycle accident on the Samoa Beach near the “waterline.” Reportedly, the motorcyclist has a “fractured femur.”

“The access is off of Lupin,” the dispatcher relayed from a person reporting from near the accident scene. “A half mile to the south from that point.”

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

UPDATE 8:28 p.m.: One of the people who spoke with a 911 operator, Mike Carlson, said the operator was “awesome” and the first responders did “a great job.”

Carlson met the first responders at the beach head and directed them in to where the rider, a woman, was awaiting assistance.

“I’m so impressed with the efficiency of the operators and the response time,” Carlson said.

UPDATE 8:55 p.m.: A number of first responders are now at the scene attempting to move the injured driver.

So glad the person got help right away. Very nice of Mike Carlson to compliment the emergency services dispatcher and responders. When it works, it works!

Lupin is in Manila, not Samoa. Half mile south…still Manila.

Carla, the location is a mute point. Who cares. The idea that he was rescued by emergency services is all that matters!

Did they drive crazy on their motorcycles I’ve seen him going a hundred and twenty miles per hour. I keep saying to myself slow down people treated but they don’t listen. I’m like okay you’re going to hit a tree

There is a speed limit to all of these motorcycles racing. The good and the bad drivers on the road

If you stay on the wet sand and enter and exit at the North Jetty or Mad River Beach,
I think the speed limit is 15 MPH. Watch your tides.

If you “seen him going 120 miles per hour”, it must not have been the injured WOMAN.

No motorcycles, ATV’s , cars, or trucks allowed on that beach or those dunes… Protected habitats for wildlife. Hope the injured person heals up, gets a ticket and a court date…

I miss the days when that part of the beach WAS open. I spent my junior high and high school years out there every weekend riding. The tiny 110 acres they left at the north jetty gets boring real quick. You can ride the entire thing in 20 minutes, rinse and repeat. Not much fun. Nearest place to ride a good amout of area now is Shasta ORV park.

Yer a geezer then cuz that was shut….like 40 years ago right? Im just messing with you, cuz I was out there too, but its good to make room for the wildlife. I did think the riders should have gotten up through the dragstrip tho, cuz like you say the space they got was a bit too small. 110 acres sounds big, but when they put you on a track it shrinks fast.

It is illegal for any vehicle – even licensed commercial fishermen – to drive motorized vehicles on the beach in Manila. $250 ticket. The Sheriff’s Department used to have a dedicated beach deputy,Cpl. Chandler, who was wonderful. The deputies who respond now seem to have a great deal of confusion over the law. My dog was run over by a speeding Ford truck last May. The deputy who responded protected the driver, and refused to divulge his identity so that I could attempt to recover the cost of the vet’s bill. These people know there are no longer beach patrols, and drive out there with a wanton disregard for walkers, dogs, or children on the beach. They race through at highway speed, in the fog, endangering themselves and everyone else on the beach.

It’s our nature and the sooner we accept it, the sooner we can have meaningful discussions.
I simply ignore repulsive comments.
