[UPDATE 7:56 p.m.] One Dead, Others Being Medevacked Following Accident on Hwy 20

An SUV reportedly crashed into a tree on Hwy 20 east of the Clear Lake Keys near Morine Ranch Road about 4:52 p.m. One of the occupants has been reported as deceased. At least one other and possible two more were extricated from the vehicle and a helicopter is coming in now to fly them to an out of the area hospital.

According to Caltrans’ QuickMap, traffic is backing up for quite a distance.

UPDATE 7:56 p.m.: Traffic is flowing at normal rates.
