Bernie Sanders can’t possibly win, and his lunatic campaign is narrowing our choice of leaders by the day… Goodby Yang, so long Warren, it’s all over Biden…

In the end, he might win a few small states, but the D[edit]crats have lost all credibility anyway, after wasting 6 months on an impossible impeachment fantasy!

Sanders is not a model of American ideals, and his stupid plans, for “medicare for all” and “Democratic Socialism” form a model that will ultimately be smashed by someone with actual vision.

Sanders is a loser, too old to be president of anything, for more than a minute, a recent heart attack victim in declining health, and he’s just all wrong for America.

Trump will kill him, in the unlikely event Sanders is nominated, and Sanders will be relegated to the dustbin of also-rans, where his campaign belongs…

So funny. Although not said by everybody. Just the ones the Democrats listened to. And the national news media.

The difference is that , while the major Republican players failed in their attempt of nomination rigging, the Democrats succeeded in theirs. A good lesson to all who will listen that sure things in elections don’t exist- no one, not Clinton, Sanders nor Trump, is guaranteed a victory.

I feel like even Fox News was rooting for Jeb or Ted, and the rest of the MSM was rooting for McCain, but they ALL gave Trump more press than any of the other candidates, then acted SHOCKED that he got the nomination.

I know. I couldn’t believe Trump got in there, I was very upset about it too… Almost as much as when Nixon won!

Trump is awful, but my IRA/457’s/403b accounts thank the voters…

I’m no Rep[edit]ublican, but I’m sure not for Sanders, either.

At the end of the day, if you are looking for food, you might have planned inappropriately.

It’s hard to focus on issues outside your immediate day to day. I respect the fact that people are upset and angry, yet still growing their retirement accounts.

It’s like the beautiful wife that cheated, but still raised those kid’s to be valedictorians, and kept the house in order.

The Democrats diddled Sanders out of nomination last time, with surprising little objection by the membership, in the name of winning. Then they lost anyway. They have not engaged in much self examination as to why they lost but instead have doubled down on moving even farther left. Will the Party repeat last election cycle’s skullduggery?

Go to 2016.

Clinton won more open and closed primaries and had more pledged delegates than Sanders.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/jun/11/democrat-primary-elections-need-reform

“Sanders “lost” those states because hundreds of superdelegates had pledged their votes long before the primaries and caucuses began. By including those prearranged votes, running media tallies reinforced the inevitability of a Clinton win and the common perception that the Democratic primary was “rigged”.”

https://www.politico.com/story/2016/02/bernie-sanders-superdelegates-democrats-219286

“Outraged by that disconnect – which is fueled by Clinton’s huge advantage with Democratic superdelegates, who are not bound by voting results – Sanders supporters are fighting back.”

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/how-super-delegates-decid_b_10098414

“At the polls Bernie Sanders won New Hampshire’s pledged delegates by a landslide 22 percent. Bernie Sanders received 60.4 percent of the poll vote, just about 150,000 votes. Clinton received 38 percent of the poll vote, tallying just about 95,000 votes. Yet, all six Democratic New Hampshire superdelegates gave their support to Hillary Clinton, effectively erasing Sanders win, leading both candidates to leave the state with the same 15 delegates. ”

Sanders lost before he even started. Could he have overcome it? Yes, possibly as Obama did in the previous years by sheer volume, but in a closer vote, no he couldn’t.

Be careful what you wish for. Google: Kyle Jurek, and you’ll see right there, this Bernie organizer in Iowa, saying that, after his man gets in, people whose thinking is not correct will need to be sent to re-education camps. The risk of Bernie winning is the implementation of sort of a reverse of the Sinclair Lewis novel, It Can’t Happen Here. The guy’s an avowed socialist. Why risk the possibility of having to stand in line for your ration of beans and rice?

Lewis Sinclair was an outspoken socialist. Also, we got 8 years of “reeducation camps” and “fema camps” and “gonna take yer guns” from the Alex Jones crowd when Obama was in office. Nothing happened.

Bernie isn’t a communist. He is a democratic socialist. I am no expert on economic theory but here are the basics. Communism and socialism have some similarities. But they have some huge divides. Communism has no private property. Socialists, particularly democratic socialists, have private property.

Here’s a list of what Sanders supports: https://www.politico.com/2020-election/candidates-views-on-the-issues/bernie-sanders/

Here’s a few that I think are particularly important:
Campaign Finance Reform: Unlimited spending should not be allowed in politics
Ban fracking
Reduce Carbon Emissions
Medicare for everyone
Legalize marijuana federally
Reduce defense spending
Increase Capital Gains Tax
Ban the death penalty

You mean like it did during WW2?
https://eh.net/encyclopedia/the-american-economy-during-world-war-ii/
Like the kind of mobilization climate scientists think is nessissary to combat global warming?
https://thehill.com/hilltv/rising/451497-climate-scientist-michael-mann-calls-for-world-war-type-mobilization-to-combat
There’s no reason a green new deal won’t be more productive for our economy than WW2, and it will prevent death on a massive scale instead of causing it.

Except the debt is already over 100% of the GDP. It wasn’t until the last year of the war that debt exceeded gdp (45-47)… and not again until 2014, and 2016,17,18,19,20.

Continued expansion of debt will sink us all, eventually.

None of the neolibs in power, Trump included, are going to do anything about the debt and our infrastructure is crumbling, we need an economic Hail Mary.

I agree that nobody in power is going to do anything about the debt, and that will eventually kill the economy. The bubble we are sitting on now is an order of magnitude larger than 2008. And almost nobody talks about the unsecured liabilities which may be an additional $100 trillion in debt of the books.

I think that most infrastructure issues could be taken care of by the states.

Here’s a great visual on how physically big the debt is:

We’ve dumped nearly that into the war on terror, with nothing at all to show for it.
https://www.businessinsider.com/us-spending-war-on-terror-stands-at-6-trillion-report-2019-11
Infastructure spending doesn’t just get flushed down the toilet. It employs people here at home, makes our country more productive and stimulates every industry in the economy.

The “war on terror” should have never happened, but 6 trillion amortized over 19 years is not the same as 100 trillion over 10 years.

Troops should be brought home worldwide, but that’s a different topic.

There’s nothing wrong with States using taxes that they already collect and applying them to what they are supposed to be used for… like fuel taxes. The Federal government does not need to hold the purse strings.

Some of those projections your article uses are 15 year projections, like the Green New Deal projection. Sanders’ campaign is projecting 60 Trillion over the next decade, which is only a moderate increase over the current budget of 4.4 Trillion per year.

Or I could say OMG TRUMP WANTS TO SPEND 44 TRILLION DOLLARS over the next 10 years.

Ullr Rover

That’s 60 trillion in addition to the current budget. Not a 1.6 trillion per annum increase. That’s huge.

“A trillion here, a trillion there, eventually it adds up to real money.”

Trump, and Congress, are overspending.

Medicare for All? Do you all even know what Medicare does? That it pays 3 times more for the cost for certain a medical devices or procedures than the open market charges but pays such a low rate for non specialist doctor visits that it’s hard to get doctors to work as general, internists or family doctors? Or as one specialist doctor put it “I’m fine because I can do procedures but the doctor (across the hallway) is leaving because she can only bill for visits.” So what happens ? The Medicare public gets 5 minute doctor visits but lots of medical “procedures,” whether useful or not. And it’s even worse when, as common in our area, the hospital owns most of the doctor practices. We live in a world now where doctors are scarce . This is the result of government choosing what care is paid for. The rich (and elected officials) will still access better care outside of government sanctioned limits but it is already hard for the rest of the public to get medical care that is not the result government financing in competition with every other government obligation.

Oh if only reality were as simple as making up slogans is.

You’d be surprised what people are doing at that level of service, management, governance.

I have my ideas, but the reality is we live in that little snow globe that’s shaken by those people who have the means to move forward agendas through a long tried and true method of “slight of hand “.

All the world’s a stage.

Those two men have more in common with each other, than either one has with his own country man and woman.
