A Crescent City man suspected of murdering his wife and letting her body decompose in a closet for several weeks is anticipated to stand trial on March 23, Del Norte County District Attorney Katherine Micks told Humboldt Last Week.

Emiley Hughes — or Emiley Tesch as those close to her have been calling her — last spoke to family on December 23, 2018, and her body was discovered in her Crescent City home on February 14, 2019, almost exactly one year ago.

The defendant who will soon stand trial in front of a jury, Emiley’s estranged husband Edward Hughes, previously pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges. He also faces child abuses charges related to his then around one-year-old son.

The person he was supposed to protect with his life, He killed. so very sad for a very pretty young lady. A special level of hell for people who are guilty of such terrible crimes awaits, Im sure.

Hopefully he’s in gen pop and everyone knows what he’s in for. Someone like that deserves the worst prison has to offer.

Truly a very disturbing and sad story. Another dangerous psychopath. May the victim finally rest in piece.
