[UPDATE 6:30 p.m.] Over 2000 Without Power in Humboldt After Last Week’s Storm
At one point early Friday, about 65,350 customers were without power. PG&E was able to restore power to all but about 4000 by late Friday. (Miranda’s power was on during the morning but went out in the early afternoon.)
Electricity continued to trickle into affected areas—with another 1800 getting power by this morning.
Customers in the Miranda area reported being told that their power would be back at noon but as of 12:10, none were reporting their power restored though some said they were now being told by 4 p.m.
UPDATE 4:53 p.m.: Power Outage website still shows Humboldt has 2, 235 PG&E customers without electricity.
UPDATE 6:30 p.m.: Most residents of the Miranda area and throughout Southern Humboldt are reporting that their power is back on.

82 hours and counting with no power in Orleans. 12:26pm Sunday
Thankfully I’m NOT among them here in Swain’s Flat!!!
Still out in parts of Western Trinity.
Still out Monday morning.
Humboldt should have a County flag with a picture of a Honda generator on it
Cathy Road north of Miranda is on day 4 no power!
Still not on in Salmon Creek.
Phillipsville… 5:10 pm and still without power. What a joke!
A helicopter flew over and appeared to be looking at our lines.
I’ve lived in rural areas most all of my adult life..been through a lot of really bad winter storms. It was far more rural than here with big trees and mountains… but the power company was on the ball.
PG&E is a disgrace! They burned the area up due to their negligence, and now their neglect and indifference is coming back to bite them and US!
Also, the monthly power bills here are OUTRAGEOUS! All of those dollars are lining Corporate’ pockets while we lose our food to spoilage and go without! We need a new company and PG&E needs to compensate their customers!
This is bullshit!
PG&E page now says 7:00.. We shalll see.. I’m out of water here..!
Power on in Salmon Creek! Whoop whoop!
Redwood Valley (off of hwy 299) – no power or pump-drawn water since 1:30ish Thursday morning. This happens regularly, even with tree trimmers working all year. We’re often the first to go out and the last to be restored. Restoration estimates have been pushed back daily since Friday. This happened to us in October and November as well – we’re continually back-burnered, yet we pay the same rates as everyone else. Communities that are triaged like this should be allowed to pay rates that reflect the level of service received. OR – maybe just bury the freakin’ lines already???? 🙄
Hm. Update posted at 10:10am, when it’s only 9:35am. 😕
10:10 a.m.
Estimated time of restoral Today @ 6 p.m.
* <– that's my grain of salt
7:33 p.m.
Estimated time of restoral Tomorrow @ 11:59 p.m.
Another 24 hours at least. But they’re gonna get those 14 people in eureka turned back on by 10:30 tonight! yessirree! WTF?? There are communities that have been without power and running water since THURSDAY.
1/22 – still no power or running water. It’s egregious.
They said today at 8 p.m. Email me if it isn’t fixed. [email protected]. I’ll spend some time tomorrow trying to get answers from PG&E.
Thank you so much Kym!
10:52 a.m.
PG&E status Power restored.
Just hoping it’ll still be on when I get home from work! Thanks again. 🙂
Wahooo!
Friends in witchepec area have been without power since Wednesday, running low on fuel. Food going to waste again.
Sunday morning, around 9:36, Mary Alice and I are sitting at the breakfast table when there is a “ping” from some electronic device. “What’s that?” I ask. Mary Alice points at the glowing night light and says “The power is back on.” Just in time. I don’t think we lost any food. Between the summer fire outages and the winter storm outages it is becoming clear that we need solar power or a generator (or both).
