Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office Releases Possible Identity of Skeletal Remains Found in Trailer

After skeletal remains were found Thursday in a camp trailer on Elk Valley Road, the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office said that there were “personal articles of property found along with the remains” that indicated the identity of deceased. Though final results of DNA testing ares still needed, in order to ease the concerns of the families of the missing who may be wondering if this is their loved one, the DNSO is releasing the name of the person they believe was found.

Press release from the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office:

 Anthony Salazar

Anthony Salazar

We realize that there is more than one missing persons case not only within our region but also in the areas adjacent to us. It is our hope that by sharing the information we have, people impacted by those cases wont be left wondering if their loved one is the person involved with this matter.

In regards to this specific case, we located two forms of property which strongly indicate the decedent is Anthony Salazar (born in 1976). We have notified his family of our investigation and we are doing everything we can to piece this matter together. We have attached a photograph of Anthony from 2018.

Again, we are awaiting positive confirmation of his identity by way of DNA testing.

If you have any information regarding this case, please contact the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office at 7074644191 and press zero to speak directly with a dispatcher.

This is my loved one. And yes we filed a missing persons report in this county exactly a year ago because we hadn’t heard from him… This is heartbreaking for my family… If anyone has any information please come forward. Imagine if this was your loved one. No one deserves to be left to die and deserted for over a year… Pray for my family…

Ersula, I don’t know you or your family and I didn’t know Anthony. I have a friend whose been missing for a year. I’m so sorry for your loss and please know that there are people feeling your pain right now with you. My heart was deeply saddened by this story and still is. I will be praying for you and your family. It must have been a horrific year looking, waiting, wondering… Again, I’m so sorry…😥 Jesus is near to the brokenhearted.
