Humboldt County DTF Says It Seized Over 50 Pounds of Meth and almost 38 Pounds of Heroin in 2019

The Humboldt County Drug Task Force (HCDTF) is a multi-agency narcotics task force whose mission is to disrupt or dismantle mid to upper level drug trafficking organizations. The HCDTF is operationally ran under the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The Task Force is governed by the leadership of the following agencies: Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, Eureka Police Department, Arcata Police Department, Fortuna Police Department, California Highway Patrol, and the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office. Each law enforcement agency is responsible for supplying a task force agent to HCDTF. The success of the HCDTF is contributed to the outstanding interagency teamwork and community collaboration. To help further this success, anyone with information relating to illegal suspected narcotics possession or sales, please call the Humboldt County Drug Task Force at 707-267-9976 or the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 707-268-2539.
Below is statistical data for calendar year 2019:
Methamphetamine seized – 51.83 pounds Estimated street value: $939,160
Heroin Seized – 37.46 pounds Estimated street value: $1,018,163
Cocaine – 285.2 grams Estimated street value: $28,520In addition, the HCDTF seized 42 illegally possessed firearms, various amounts of illegally possessed prescription drugs, and other illegally possessed narcotics.

I would say that success of this on-going program to eliminate these drugs would be if they had found none this year.

Wow! And yet this had no effect on drug usage or drug sales in the county. Anyone who wants illegal drugs can and will get them. 70 years of the War on Drugs and nothing to show but higher taxes, bigger government, more and more users, and money in the hands of criminal cartels.

All drugs should be legal, including all Rx drugs. Make everything cheap and available.
The government should buy up all the opium, produce pure heroin and methamphetamine, import cocaine by the shipload, and, give it all away in “drug use centers”, where incapacitated addicts can receive medical care, housing, and mental health services, including rehab, job placement, counseling etc. All drugs should be dispensed in a form that reduces the need for needles, like a nasal spray…
When the money is gone from drug dealing, the harm will be truly reduced! Prohibition does not work! Learn from experience.

You’re pretty ignorant to even imagine they haven’t already done this for decades now.
Congratulations DTF! You have spent a huge amount of what little tax money is available in Humboldt, eradicating marijuana, and interdicting smack and meth, but in my mind, you have only marginally disrupted drug use.
Great job getting it off the streets. Drugs don’t just affect the users. !!!
