Caltrans QuickMap shows orange and red areas where traffic slowed around the semi.

Caltrans QuickMap shows orange and red areas where traffic slowed around the semi stopped near the triangle north of the Humboldt/Mendocino County line. [Screenshot from here]

A bit rig stalled in the southbound lane of Hwy 101 in Richardson Grove at about 9:30 this morning.  The southbound lane is completely blocked but traffic control is in place and the northbound lane is being used alternately for traffic traveling in different directions.

According to a California Highway Patrol spokesperson, a tow truck is coming from Willits and could take some time. Please prepare for slow travel through the area.

All highways are cursed.
I suppose CALTRANS will use this to bolster their argument for “improvment”. 😠

Flat girl, I hope CALTRANS uses this to bolster their argument for 101 improvement. It is time to wake up to reality. 101 was a good road in the 40’s and 50’s, but no more. It is a death trap, and causes many accidents.

Yeah, the road has only improved. The drivers on the other hand…. Quit trying to blame the tool because you don’t know how to use it! The roads and the rails have had issues since they were created. Don’t be a fool!

I was not here in the 40’s-50’s. I was here from the 70’s til now and remember the skinny windy old highway.

Stalled/broken down/mechanical problem. No one died, no one was injured. Just an inconvenience of time for all travelers. Why so negative???

Well, that depends on your perspective. It’s not the worst place for would-be passers-by to wait & chill.

And I think of this trucker as a lonely guy who is on the road all the time, sleeping in his cab, & eating alone in diners. I bet this was a big highlight for him to receive some much-needed social interaction. I’m imagine folks telling him all about how they feel about him, and giving him suggestions where to go, etc.

Was safer in the 40’s & 50’s cause that’s the speed people drove.
