Prescribed Burn in Kneeland Tomorrow

The CAL FIRE Humboldt- Del Norte Unit is planning to conduct a prescribed burn on November 14, 2019. The proposed project is 140 acres in size and is located approximately 6 miles east of the community of Kneeland. The prescribed burn will last for one day and residents will observe smoke, as well as an increase in fire traffic in the area. This treatment will help to enhance the health of the native plant communities, aid in the control of non-native plant species, protect oak woodland habitat for animal species, and aid in the reduction of hazardous fire fuels and control of uncontrolled wildfire.
