The Clarke Historical Museum and the Humboldt County Historical Society have joined forces to put on the first annual Humboldt County History Symposium on Saturday November 9, 2019. This event will run from 10 am to 4 pm at the Wharfinger Building, 1 Marina Way, Eureka. There will be a variety of presentations on aspects of local history, tabletop exhibits of local historical collections and organizations, and a keynote address by renowned Northern California historian Ray Raphael. There will also be a raffle and a boxed lunch. Registration is required, as seating is limited to 120 attendees so be sure to register early! Tickets that include lunch are $5 to help offset the cost of lunch.

Registration closes when all 120 seats are taken or by October 26, 2019, whichever comes first.

One of my all time favorite local authors. An everyday history of someplace. Tree talk , Edges , Cash Crop. Two people one place as a local text book. Many more to mention. But haven’t read yet. Kudos to MR. Raphael. I miss when Joan and Michael on Monday morning magazine on KMUD use to have him as a frequent guest. I’ve always had a fantasy of burning a big fatty with Ray.

Can that be right, Oct. 26 or when tickets are sold out, whichever comes first? Why would we be seeing this press release if we have missed the opportunity to attend? I am going to persevere and see if i can get in.

~my theory: Kym keeps the side article list flooded w/neuts so that we never bring to fruition a conversation of “doing”, because that thread-link just dropped off the bottom of the list or slid into another addendum link of thefts, home invasion style thefts, stabbings, shootings, vehicle munches, planned firestorm blackouts…

Never mind. We can’t do w/out ya Kym.

I hope they see that there is a wider demand to attend than their venue can hold. Would like to go to another presentation!
