First it says it could take up to 2 days to restore power, then it says “48 daylight hours” – which is it? 48 daylight hours is a lot longer than 2 days, given that there is only about 11 hours between sunrise and sunset each day at the time of year.

So, what about the Tuesday-Wednesday winds and low humidity? Are they going to scramble to get power on for just a day?

I think they are looking for down branches and trees on the lines.

Yep. Power will be shut off again Tuesday and possibly Wednesday. That was my newest message from pgne. Expect power shut offs every 48 hours with 48 hour inspection times! Wtf!? Temps in the 30s for rest of week at night.

We had no wind here in Willow Creek. Why wait 2 days to inspect? The weather event was forecasted not actual.

It’s a crazy scary wind event. Just not on top of US for a change. Sacto has a private municipal system and they are experiencing outages and major fires that closed I-80.
The problem is that those freaking transmission lines go long distances across regions that are getting the high winds. Our sheltered valleys aren’t as vulnerable to wind from the north east, I guess.
Here. Play with this for a while – one you have power and a decent internet connection…

So back by Tuesday at 4?

Are they going to be shutting off the power monthly, weekly for the next 10 years?

Anybody know?

Until they get legal indemnity from the state that they are not financially responsible for fires. I assume they are wanting to apply that to past fires also. They are planning to shut down power even during winter storms, when the ground is wet. Think people are angry now? You ain’t seen nothing yet.

Time given for Tuesday’s “weather event” is 6AM. Or was.
Might have been a misprint, but it’s the only time I could find.
Hopefully E’ka will be powered up on Monday because lots of us have to restock…

48 DAYLIGHT HOURS…that is not 2 days as many who skim the article might conclude but seems to me they should have said UP TO 5 DAYS.

Way different level of planning involved…for people who can even get this announcement, which is certainly not everyone affected by the shutoff.
Edit grrrr now I see the top comment saying the same thing grrr
Thanks Kym, yer the best!

“PG&E is contemplating yet another planned power outage in the next few days, even as company officials wait for weather and wildfire conditions to subside — a prerequisite for the utility to restore electricity to the nearly 100,000 Sonoma County customers already without power.

Large parts of PG&E’s service territory, including areas in Sonoma County, face an elevated potential for another outage Tuesday and Wednesday, due to more dry, strong winds and low humidity, according to PG&E. It would be PG&E’s fourth planned anti-wildfire blackout this month.”

For some strange reason my landline phone was out this AM until just now when it rang with (another) message from PG&E. The new message is that the current event is over and lines will be re-powered but there was potentially another planned outage in 2 days.

This is an issue that is popping up around the county. Please contact your fire department and make sure that your phone issue well communicated with them. Frontier has been dodging the fact that phone line charges aren’t holding enough for power outages- this is a major problem in emergency circumstances- and one that is gaining attention in our county. We need to be organized and aware of all of the places that need service/updates. If your area needs service please get connected with Southern Humboldt Fire Safe Council and make sure your area is noted as part of the concern!

PG&E has a large, unheated tent in the parking lot behind the Blue Lake Casino gas station equipped with power, charging stations, internet, water, porta-potties, and tables and chairs. It’s not well-signed but the PG&E rep said this morning that it will be there until Thursday.

Yup- the Alert I just received say some places have been given the all clear but that the was another “weather event” they are looking at that could shut down the power on TUESDAY. I wonder if this going to like some war torn city’s where the power comes on for a few hours occasionally.

And there should be another update because of the “changing weather patterns” coming Tuesday—— if the power comes on it is still expected to be going off again.

So my power is still off from the last shut off. Will it just stay off until the Tuesday event or will it go on for a bit, and then go off again Tuesday?

My husband requires a c-pap machine as he quits breathing several times an hour, his does not have batteries, he can’t get a new one that is rechargable unless he has a new sleep study done. No INS and on disability we can’t afford a new sleep study or machine. He wakes me up gasping for air or I shake him. This is beyond inconvenient. I am exhausted from very little sleep

You can probably get a Chinese-built CPAP ‘plug’ for his machine that
allows it to run off of batteries. ($25 -$35).

(‘Name Brand’ ones run $100-??? equals pure profit for the company.)

Plug it into a car battery. A fully charged car battery will keep a CPAP running for days.
