Dedication/Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony at Newburg Park to Honor Late Laszlo Lesku on Wednesday

This is a press release from the City of Fortuna:

On Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 5:30 p.m., a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at Newburg Park (2700 Newburg Road, Fortuna, CA 95540) to honor the late Laszlo Lesku, who passed away on April 7, 2014.

Over his 32 years in education as a teacher at Fortuna High School, Laszlo was also a positive, motivating coach and was the driving force to bringing the sport of soccer to Humboldt County. He coached youth and the Fortuna High School soccer teams, and formed and played on many adult teams. Laszlo was also a prominent soccer referee.

Newburg Park’s main soccer field will include the addition of a “Laszlo Lesku Field” sign, which will be unveiled at the dedication.

An opportunity will be provided for community members to speak briefly at the dedication site, and the ceremony will happen rain or shine.

The contributions, service, and opportunities Laszlo Lesku provided to Fortuna, the Eel River Valley, and the entire Humboldt County soccer community will not be forgotten.
