[UPDATE 4:33 p.m.: Working Again] Google Maps Server Is Down

Multiple people are reporting an error when attempting to reach Google Maps. When trying to access, people across the globe are reporting seeing the following message:

500 error

According to WestHost, “The 500 Internal Server Error is a very general HTTP status code that means something has gone wrong on the web site’s server but the server could not be more specific on what the exact problem is.”

The first reports began coming in about 3:30 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time. By 4:06 p.m., there had been almost 500 reports of issues on Outage Report.

The company has not yet addressed the issue.

UPDATE 4:15 p.m.: Though Google Maps still doesn’t work on either Chrome or Firefox browsers, it does work on a phone.

UPDATE 4:33 p.m.: Google Maps is back working again.

Sorry. Not that concerned about google maps. There is mapquest and https://maps.randmcnally.com and hopefully they aren’t quite as invasive of your information.
