Lucky’s Lost!

Black and white dog
Lucky’s lost. He went missing in the early morning hours of August 28 from Hodgson and M street in Eureka Ca.
Black and white dogLucky is an unneutered male, Blue Heeler/Australian Shepherd mix with a cropped tail who is six and a half years old. He is black and white with freckles.
“We have been diligent in checking with as many shelters, pounds, etc.,” wrote his owner, Sean Kinkade told us. “[We] have spent countless hours canvassing the neighborhood, posting fliers, knocking on doors.  So I thought I would try to get some media coverage.”
Kinkade said that Lucky “didn’t have his collar on at the time of his disappearance. “

Seriously Sean? You have a six year old and you haven’t neutered him? Males can smell a female in heat from miles away. Now he’s out making more puppies who will also need a home. We don’t need more dogs in Humboldt. I hope you find and fix him ASAP.

So when Lucky was a puppy he got hit by a car. The accident ripped his tail right off and left tread markes across his abdomen and his balls. The Vet that did a great job docking his tail said that there was no need to traumatize him any more by surgery. The damage done to his balls made it so he has never even tried to mate. However having his balls is an identifying trait, so that is why we mentioned it. Because he has been sterile and it has never been an issue I didn’t take into consideration that we would be given a hard time over it. We just wanted to describe our dog as best as possible, wanting to have him returned home. He is such a special part of our family.

i absolutely do not believe you.

spay and neuter your pets people! no actual vet will tell you that neutering is a traumatic event that can’t be done because a dog’s tail is docked!

Wow. Got an opinion? These people are asking for help to find their beloved pet. Your comments are out of line and you should be ashamed of yourself. You don’t know this dogs medical history and you don’t know what all vets would say. Your hole, shut it

So Lucky didn’t go off following some sent. We are new in the neighborhood, he didn’t have his collar on so we are concerned someone thought he was a stray and kept him. Well he not a stray, he has a family that loves him very much and so badly wants him home.

Humboldt Paws Cause =
One posting gets you aired on KHUM and its 3 sister stations, the Paws Cause Face Book, and Lost Coast Outpost. It also lets you print out flyers. On air, however, at least on KHUM, they generally only talk about ONE critter.

KMUD =
Airs at various times. I usually hear it after Democracy Now at about 1pm every afternoon. They will mention ALL (to my knowledge) the critters they have to post. Their web page, unfortunately, is blank except for phone numbers. Best to call and post. And be sure to let them know when your furr buddy is found so they can take it off the air.

And of course…
Redheaded Blackbelt
But you know that already. That’s generally where I read things first. She also post ALL critters on the Community Help page along with stolen canoes and nature cleanups.

Please let every outlet you post to know when you are reunited so we, the community, can focus on other lost pets. I once saw a dog I recognized from a “Missing” poster. When I called the phone number, the person holding the dog’s leash answered their phone. While I was happy they got their buddy back, I was a little irritated that their poster was still up, at the same park they were now playing in.

Hello, everyone! I just saw this. My name is Denise and I have Lucky. I have fostered this good boy since April 18th. During that time he has come back multiple times while the couple got their feet. Glad to report that happened. August 15th, I thought we made a successful transfer back. The following Wednesday, I found him on curled up on my street corner. He was absolutely exhausted. I have been waiting to hear from Harmony since we have developed this relationship. I shall give her a call. Just know he is safe and in good hands.
