[UPDATE Thursday] Law Enforcement Searching for a Fleeing Suspect in Hydesville
After the report over the scanner about 10:15 a.m. of a possible assault victim found with a head injury near Blocksburg and possible suspects fleeing in a white van sedan, a CHP Officer stopped a vehicle matching that description in Hydesville near Johnson road on Hwy 36.
One of the suspects was detained at gunpoint while the passenger, a Hispanic male, fled north on foot past Hydesville Elementary School, according to the scanner. Officers are currently searching the area for the suspect.
The victim is being transported by a family member in their vehicle to the hospital, according to a report relayed by the dispatcher over the scanner to officers in the field.

UPDATE 11:38 a.m.: A California Highway Patrol plane is circling Hydesville and looking for the suspect.
UPDATE 11:58 a.m.: Readers are telling us that the vehicle that was stopped is a white BMW or Mercedes 4-door sedan
UPDATE 12:06 p.m.: We believe officers are leaving the scene without finding the suspect but we don’t have that confirmed at this time.
UPDATE Thursday: According to Lt. Sam Williams of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, “It was not as reported and no one wanted to make a report to law enforcement. There was no indication of gun fire and no indication that anyone was injured with a gun. Injuries from the assault were minor. One subject did flee on foot from [law enforcement], but that was because he had an outstanding warrant. He was not located.”

While in many ways I agree with your hyperbolic description of another possible stereotype (it’s fun to exaggerate to get a point across), I have got to question that last statement that says that in 2008 the ONLY people to keep up on their payments were Latinos. We can chalk it up to a future fire of “downed poles”, or not. Who the hell knows?
