A lot of areas in Humboldt County do not have cell service so he could be out of range, at least I hope that is the reason you have not heard from him.

They should contact Forest Service and BLM offices to ask if he registered on any of the trails or campgrounds.

Family should consider checking his route of travel. Could be a vehicle accident un noticed.

The truck and rims make it an easy thing to decipher. I will keep my eye out the next few days. Hope all turns out well and he is out of range.

Yep,
It is that time of year when people loose all track of “The real world.”
Here we are behind the Redwood Curtain for good reason.
Enjoy your get away Tim.

Sounds like this man needs a SPOT tracker, it will work more in more areas than most cell providers, plus its a backup to a cell phone in case he really is in trouble.

If contact is made with friends and loved ones on a consistently regular basis, it might be thoughtful and courteous to inform them “hey, gonna be out of range for a few days…I’m going to X location for X days so you won’t be able to get in touch with me or see any new social media posts”. Just sayin’!
