Firefighters Quickly Lasso Two Acre Ranch Fire Near Salyer This Afternoon

Reports of evacuations raced through the online community after a fire started near Salyer this afternoon. However, Peggi Lawrence, spokesperson for Six Rivers Forest Service assured us that there were no evacuations and that crews have a line around the fire as of 2 p.m. and expect to have no serious further issues.

The fire reached about two acres, she noted.

She said there were two Forest Service engines, a Hot Shot crew, two Salyer VFD engines, several patrol vehicles as well as aircraft on the Ranch Fire as it was called.
