Two Overdose Deaths Linked to Heroin Laced With Fentanyl

FentanylInformation from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

Over the last month, the Humboldt County Coroner’s Office has seen two fentanyl overdose deaths. Based on toxicology reports, both individuals appear to have been using heroin laced with fentanyl. It’s unknown if the individuals knew about the presence of the fentanyl at the time of use. While these types of overdose deaths have been increasing across the country, these are the first fentanyl drug-related deaths recorded by the Humboldt County Coroner’s Office in several years.

Did you know that you can help fight the opioid epidemic?
Eighty percent of heroin users first began their addiction with prescription drugs. Many of those drugs were obtained from a relative or friend. Prescription opioids can be just as addictive as heroin, possessing similar chemical qualities as the street drug. Unused, unwanted or expired medications sitting in your home are a silent danger, waiting to fall into the wrong hands. The community can help protect the next generation by properly disposing of these medications, decreasing the chance for the prescriptions to be abused. Drop off your unwanted prescription medications at our medication disposal bin on the ground floor of the Courthouse!

If you are a junkie, if you can read this story, if you know a junkie, hey, it’s time to get clean, before your drug of choice kills you…

Call St Helena Hospital Recovery Center, where they have physician-assisted detox, with medication support. They will help you get clean, and deliver an education which is invaluable! Also, you will attend Nar-Anon, and AA meetings, have the camaraderie of other recovering addicts and alcoholics, therapists and counselors, medical staff and nurses, many of whom are also recovering addicts.

Good luck!

Also, Singing Trees, Duffy’s Napa, Redwood Rural HC in Redway, and many others will help you beat Heroin addiction and start living clean and sober!

You don’t have to die to get off Heroin, and the stuff the dealer is selling you, it could contain enough Fenanyl to easily kill you.

It’s too dangerous. It’s too dirty. Get help.

Or you can just continue to do what you do and the problem will solve itself.

I believe st Helena hospital closed the Recovery center a few (maybe 2) years ago. But yes… your point is not missed, please get help! Lots of programs out there, or go to a 12 step meeting there are people to help if you want it!

Sad part of all this, if you are locked up with a nasty drug habit, you are of weak body and mind and present no benefit to society except to further the degradation of our communities.

This life ain’t for the faint of heart nor the timid warrior. There’s a massive amount of top down push to keep a society drugged up.

Send the good vigorous stock to fight wars of aggression, and leave the rest behind, unprotected from the forces that want to see the unnecessary human beings culled like Mao, Stalin, and pol pot, and of course, our insightful vegetarian, Adolph.

The machines are more reliable and will take over every segment of the work force they can. It’s sad, but our reality is pretty harsh for the next generation of dependents.

Usually a successful and long term recovery depends upon some type of crutch. I would think that The crutch is the preferred alternative.

Please take yourself out of So-Hum and get treatment and support services.

The resources you need to recover are not available in small, rural towns. Small towns are for people who like to build and make things productive.

Please take yourself to a metro and get help. You won’t find a solution in these forests and hiding here won’t solve these types of issues.

Good points. Rural areas are poor in recovery resources but it also seems that the initial consequences of addiction are less dire than in urban areas. Maybe there’s a self-selection of people who accept their addiction gravitating towards rural areas?

He/she is not concerned about the well being or recovery of drug addicts in his/her rural community by any means. He/she just doesn’t want the “unproductive” citizens of this free country hanging out in front of his/her business located in “his/her” small town.

I don’t understand the logic behind cutting with fentanyl. Heroin is plenty addictive as it is and killing customers so they no longer use your product is a poor business practice.
