[UPDATE 4:20 p.m.] Humboldt County Roads: What’s Open and What’s Not
Information from the County of Humboldt [This does not include state highways]:
Our Roads Dispatch is taking several reports of downed trees throughout Humboldt County due to the high winds. Wind gusts of 50 to 60 miles per hour are expected today. Please drive slow on winding roads. Here is a list of current road conditions. We will post updates as we get them.
Petrolia, at Lincoln Street and Mattole Road – closed due to downed tree and power lines, you can get around using Front Street but take it slow.
Jack Shaw Road – closed due to downed trees
Mountain View Road – closed due to low hanging wires and trees
Kneeland Road, PM 26.36 – closed due to downed trees
Warren Creek Road at West End Road – debris in the roadway, crews are en route
1100 block Fickle Hill Road – debris in the roadway, small rock slide, crews are en route
Butler Valley Road – closed due to snow
Maple Creek Road, from Anderson Ranch to Butler Valley Road – lines tangled in trees, AT&T is notified
Bair Road, between Redwood Valley and Hoopa – open but narrow in spots due to high snow berms, carry chains
Alderpoint Road – Open, carry chains
Shelter Cove Road – open, carry chains

Ishy Pishy Road at PM 1.0 is currently closed due to a slide. No estimated time of reopening. Residents can get in from the north end of Ishy Pishy Road. Updates will be posted as they become available

Updated Road Conditions
Mattole Road in Petrolia is now open.
Bald Hills Road has 8 inches of new snow. The road is open. Everyone must carry chains.
Bair Road has 6 inches of new snow. The road is open to Hoopa. Everyone must carry chains.
Titlow Hill Road (Horse Mountain) has 10 inches of new snow. The road is open to the towers. Chains are required.
And CalTrans shows that the Avenue, hwy 254, is closed at the Holmes Flat Road intersection.

Ave of the Giants is closed just north of Redcrest due to flooding. As of 10:30am, higher riding vehicles will probably make it across, but not recommended to attempt crossing in a passenger car. The water is deeper than it appears.
