Yesterday, DTF Seized What They Believe Is the ‘Largest One-Time Seizure of Heroin in Humboldt County History’

This is a press release from the Humboldt County Drug Task Force. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Edgar Barragan-Castano

Edgar Barragan-Castano

On February 10th, 2019, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Special Agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force, with the assistance of narcotic detection K9 with the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1000 block of Hookton Road, Loleta. Agents had previously received information, and obtained a search warrant, for a vehicle being driven by Adrian Carlos Cota-Alonso and Edgar Barragan-Castano (both from Sonora, Mexico). Agents established probable cause to believe that both subjects were distributing multiple pounds of heroin in Humboldt County.

During the traffic stop, both subjects were detained without incident. Agents served the search warrant and located a false compartment in the rear passenger seat.

Adrian Carlos Cota- Alonso

Adrian Carlos Cota-
Alonso

Agents opened this compartment and located approximately 12 pounds of suspected heroin packaged for sales. Agents also seized over $6,000 in US currency that is believed to be profits of narcotics sales. This currency will be held pending asset forfeiture proceedings.

Cota-Alonso and Barragan-Castano were subsequently transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where they were booked for possession and transportation of controlled substances for the purpose of sales. Pursuant to PC 1275, agents were granted bail enhancements for both arrestees and their bail was set at $100,000 each.

This is believed to be the largest one-time seizure of heroin in Humboldt County history.

Anyone with information related to this investigation or other narcotics related crimes are encouraged to call the Humboldt County Drug Task Force at 707-444-8095 or the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 707-268-2539.heroin HCSO Arrest

More proof on who’s running the government it is not just the largest oil reserves it’s three times more than Saudi Arabia and the Koch brothers want to steal it their refineries are ready to produce once they have their grabbing hands on it or oil prices will go skyrocketing guaranteed so we better build a wall and it better be damn tall and it better be impenetrable cuz people in the world are going to be pissed it seems that here in the United States were getting used our government and big money running our country so we’ll probably do nothing about it I wish I had good news to report but it’s not these little drug deals that are ruining our world if you look at what’s happening in big government you might understand we the people have been ripped off for a long time big Banks stock markets Bond markets the debt markets it’s all designed to steal money from the people and keep us as slaves

Such a low bail especially for drug-traffickers… 10k seems easily doable to post bond. With how many ppl are dying from Heroin, these guys should be criminalized much more heavily. Why don’t the cops ever follow the trail & bust all the local middlemen? I hope to see these heroin bust as much as possible and these guys terrified to enter the County. Such a horrible drug! They need to add charges & adopt R.I.C.O like in N.Y. & give these dangerous low-lives life sentences to set an example. Makes me wonder what % the cops aren’t catching.

If you confiscated 100 percent of all billionaires wealth it would fund the government for less than 10 months. And then what your plan for the next year as there is far less wealth to take? So yeah there’s a problem and it’s government spending not wealth inequality. Here’s a radical idea for you demand fiscal responsibility in government spending of your tax dollars. And jobs stop drugs? So stock brokers don’t like coke?

No one wants 100% of their trip. We want a reasonable % of the wealth they create circulating in the economy.
Look at the 40s thru the late 60’s for evidence that a balanced economy is a healthy economy.

WARNING: Ernestine, The following link to reality may make you become triggered. It’s OK. Smoke another joint and turn on MSNBC, stick your fingers in yours ears and scream RACIIIIST!

You see, the top 1% that you despise because you don’t have the drive, the gumption that they do, already pay 40% of the tax burden. The top 20% percent pay nearly all of the taxes so that you can sit around in your pajamas all day playing video games and hating on those who are better than you. So raising their tax bill will accomplish nothing.
As for your fantasy about the government creating jobs building windmills. I can’t stop laughing, literally! Windmills suck. If they worked, the 1% that you envy so much would have already invested in them. The jobs that the government “creates” are paid for by the very people you decry. DERP! And even with monopolies, such as the post office, the government you exalt still manages to lose billions. That’s billions with a b.
Perhaps the most laughable, yet stunningly ignorant idea that you have suggested is that people would stop using drugs if only they had a job. Go offer any of the hundreds of bums on the streets of Eureka a job and see what they say. Let me guess, if I pay them a “living wage” they will happily accept and put down the meth pipe. Riiiight.

Maybe you should get up before noon Ernestine. Go out and create wealth. Employ the drug addicts that you pitty so much and make a difference in the world instead of doing what most liberals do: pretend to give a shit by posting meaningless gibberish, all the while taking more from society than you give and simultaneously demanding that the givers give more. God bless the 1%.

Look, wind farms are scattered all over California, the US and the world.

While not the most efficient, wind energy generation is practical and effective in some areas.

Don’t get caught up In the wind though, there’s other forms of energy to diversify with.

Billions have been invested, if not more.

Cortez’ non binding bill sets goals, not laws. Non binding.

I don’t think higher employment rates would eliminate drug use, but it wouldn’t hurt.

As far as taxing the wealthy, I don’t think you understand our history of taxing the wealthiest. The middle class taxation rates began for and during WW2.

“Look, wind farms are scattered all over California, the US and the world.”

That’s because it takes massive amounts of space to generate tiny amounts of energy, as do the “other forms” of energy you reference. As for now, fossil fuels are far and away the most efficient form of energy. Also, all of these other forms of energy are heavily subsidized by governments around the world. If they were worth a shit, they wouldn’t need subsidies. If people weren’t given massive tax breaks, what little investment exists from the private sector would vanish like a fart in the wind. Good ideas don’t need subsidies because people naturally invest in good ideas.

As for taxing the wealthy, the link was a good read. That being said, I understand our history of taxation quite well. The article points out how the middle class is paying more and more taxes; this is true. But, it does not negate my point. The top 20% still pay over 90% of the bill and the top 1% still pay 40% of the bill. All of us are paying more than ever. The government is taking in record amounts of money yet we have record amounts of debt. The more windmills and other bullshit government programs people insist on, the more the middle class will HAVE to pay taxes. There is not enough wealth from “the rich” to pay for all of the handouts people want. The income tax began in 1913 with the promise it would only affect the top 1%. As your article points out, it’s no longer just the 1%. And people like Ernestine, who think taxing the rich is the answer, are blissfully unaware that we will all end up paying what began with “taxes on the rich”.
The top income bracket of 94% after WW2 is commonly used to bolster the liberal’s case about how confiscatory taxes somehow make us all richer. They conveniently ignore that hardly a soul was in that income bracket due to the massive amount of write offs back then that no longer exist. A millionaire, or billionaire was much better off back then under a top rate of 94% then they would be today under a top rate of 40%. A cursory look at our tax history would teach them that yet they are uninterested in those facts. They would rather scream racist, or in Doctor Doom’s case FOX NEWSSSS. And that is why I find liberals so despicable.

Surely, you understand why liberals don’t like Tucker or Hannity at Fox.

Mostly it’s opinion, not news, obscured not objective, biased not informative.

I don’t think any TV personality is worth watching. I’ve never seen a Don Lemon segment, but I read articles from CNN and elsewhere.

Don’t let your defense of Personas get in the way of your politics, in my opinion.

I’m no tax expert, and what your saying makes me want to learn a little more. Maybe I’ll have an argument for debate, or maybe I’ll agree…but for now, I’ve treaded the waters I know.

Cheers.

Poppies are grown in the mountains of Mexico. Mexico is the second largest producer of heroin in the world. It is the main producer for the US and the cartels are the largest pushers in the US. The 2016 National Drug Threat Assessment found that Mexican cartels expanded their market share in the U.S. to nearly 80% in 2014, pushing out South American and Southwest Asian producers. In 2015, 93% of the heroin the DEA seized and analyzed came from Mexico. Can’t really argue with that.

How does that work? I mean if they are here legally wont they stand trial here in the states? I don’t think there would be bail set if they ere here legally?

Now, I totally agree, knowing a lot about smuggling, those 12 pounds more than likely came in with a shipment of hundreds if not thousands of pounds right through the San Ysidro port of entry.

Yep Stryker its coming in thru ports for sure! Shipping containers are used for most illegal imports including people unfortunately.
The witness statements from the el chapo trial are worth reading if you want to hear how theyre getting drugs into the states these days. And a border wall wont stop 99% of it. Not even a little

Worth a couple hundred grand easily
Would get thousands and thousands of people high over and over and over again.
If one “dose” of heroin is 25mg then there are 40 “doses” in each gram…..10lb x 454g x 40doses = 181,600 doses.
No clue if they were here legally but it’s great to have this shit off the streets.

Probably not here legally, definitely not citizens. I believe if they were here legally or if they were citizens it would say from (insert city), (insert state), but since it says that they are from sonora, mexico, I would believe they are not here legally and are not citizens. The court will always set bail, even if they are not here legally. This is Kalifornia.

Thanks for the info, everyone. I had no idea what 12 lb means except its a lot. My neighbour lost his daughter to this stuff, after she had a car accident, got addicted to the pain relievers, and was cut off by her doctor. So sad.

Since this is a large amount, I would suspect they had cartel connections. Just don’t see how this could be an independent supplier. I see the “mules”, or dealers, are not sporting tattoos. To better blend in with the population, I would guess.

Give them a fair trial, then hang them would be my method of justice.

Whats the best way to handle this type of situation? The judges won’t sentence correctly, deporting them is just giving them a ride back to a new opportunity to come back. How about creating learning opportunities for folks like these to develop there skills and integrate them into society. Way to many people are quick to point the finger rather than create solutions to avoid the problems from even beginning. Maybe if the city state and federal government,ya know helped folks who were trying to get situated instead of towing there cars, fining them, and just slowing em down, all the while richey rich speeds by in his moms Mercedes. The point is, in my time here I’ve seen a systematic effort by the government to deter illegals as if they are not going to come.

Here’s a reality
America is cool
Other people like America
Other people want to live in America too
Let’s create smooth transitions for which we can turn these folks into great citizens, because a life with out help or guidance can lead to making poor choices.
I blame America for not hooking these too up with some nice “CAUCASIAN FRIENDS” they probably would be some fine cops

Yep I really could care less. There are enough people in this country struggling that I care about, I don’t need to worry about Mexico too. The thing that would help Mexico most is if we started penalizing drug addicts, the market that the cartels are selling to. I’ve said it once I’ll say it again, drug addiction is not a victimless crime, for every shot that is shot up and every line that is snorted some poor family is being displaced in another country so that the cartels could use that land. I care alot about my 1911 because its the last thing that will stand between me and a bunch of crazed liberals if they ever gain control of the gov’t.

Authorities do know that and that’s why we don’t have a wall. It would be a colossal waste of money that could be better spent on more effective deterrent, surveillance and apprehension methods.

That’s not a reality at any level? Why are there sanctuary state, counties and cities? Isn’t that fighting for their right to be here illegally by very definition. Im not necessarily for the wall but anyone who thinks narcotics are not physically packed across the border by mules and as payment to the cartels for “allowing” migrants to cross their territory is simply wrong. More drugs are probably transported through ports of entry, but they have migrants packing them everyday, day and night. but as everyone in Humboldt knows if there is a demand for a drug someone will create the supply. I personally would rather the wall go on the Canadian border so we can finally lock out Justin Bieber.

What the hell else would you call that besides condoning and encouraging it? Some of the local mayors are going as far as to tip-off illegal criminal aliens to ice raids. There’s a famous case of this that happened last year in Oakland, where the feds estimated that several hardcore felons including child trafficking and rapists got away because of the tip-off…

25 grams per heroin ounce x 16 oz per pound x 12 lbs = 4800 grams. $50/gram= $240,000 street value = 4800 addicts high for a day(average 1 gram/day habit).
I’m thinking this will set everyone using back for a couple of days but not much longer

“Legal” drug companies fueled the opioid crisis.
Humboldt county and the hoopa tribe have filed suit on that issue because this county was targeted by them.
There was a die-in at the Guggenheim yesterday over this same issue. That museum is funded by a wealthy American family who said they would be made wealthy by a torrent of prescriptions after oxyxontin came on the market.

The wall isn’t anti-American, it is pro-American. You almost had your history right with the Berlin wall, the main difference is that our wall would be a border between the US and Mexico. The Berlin wall divided Germany in half, both physically and ideologically. So if ours were like that, you, ernestine, would be on one side and I the other. In order to spend money giving people jobs, that would entail a redistribution of wealth, where my tax dollars were spent to give someone else a job. In that case, jobs would need to be created. More gov’t jobs doing meaningless things shrouded in red tape would not help our country. Subsidizing solar companies would mean taking my wealth and giving it to a company that is far better off than I. How is that fair? Further more those people being employed in such an endeavor would need to be educated enough to perform the task.

Also did you know that the batteries used in solar systems are 80% sulfuric acid? They last 20 years tops and our best method of disposal is a land fill. I don’t know about the new Tesla batteries, but the old ones that was the case.

You do not put away 800’000 a month or you wouldn’t be hanging around here. You are someone who would be helped by those people paying their fair share of the taxes, so your wealth could build instead of only theirs.

My history is very rough, but are you comparing a wall put up by communists to keep their citizens from fleeing to the west to putting up a border on a free country to ensure legal immigration. I believe your analogy would be better if it was Mexico building a wall to keep Mexicans from escaping Mexico for propaganda reasons. It’s apples and oranges, except for the fact that the Berlin Wall did work fairly well. Do I think the wall is a great idea, no. Do I think that you idea is far worse absolutely.

Yes. You have your geopolitical history correct.
But you are wrong about the nature of the problem.
It’s not the poor that have the power to eff up your life. It’s the rich.

The good news is that while they are very powerful, they are very few. 3 guys own what almost 200,000,000 of us do.

Those three guys would not pay any of the taxes even if they were levied. Their money is not in the United States. The taxes would affect the companies that employ millions of United States workers, and would cause them to have to reduce the number of jobs they provide. The United States has had the highest corporate tax rate in the world for decades and all it did was Drive the industry out of our country and to China. The government cannot create wealth, every government job is paid for by taxing Private Industry or borrowing printed money and paying an interest rate on it.

Yes it is complicated. It will take deep thinking to set right.
But it’s rich Americans that are doing the hurting to us. Not everyday Latinas. Not poor people. If we are start with an accurate description of the problem, we can fix it

jobs left the U.S. after Reagan started cutting the marginal and corporate tax rates for trickle down economics. See Roger and Me for a review of that history.

Again you would have to pass tax provision to tax people in other countries. The rich Americans you keep referring to do not keep their money domestically because of our high corporate tax rates already… The top 1% of income earners in the United States already pay twice as much taxes as the average tax paying Americans. As a whole they make up over 50% of all collected taxes, they’re already paying twice their “fair” share…

The only thing most people have to offer for their livelihood is their labor. Offering an unlimited supply of cheaper foreign labor means that both the native worker’s labor is suppressed so he gets poorer AND the rich get richer by not having to pay as much out of their profits for it.

See Roger and Me for what happens when a government doesn’t take action to protect its laborers. Not that Reagan was resonsible for that. It was Clinton who signed NAFTA.

$100,000 bail *enhancements*

Interestingly, the Court’s bail schedule for Possession of Heroin, > 10 lbs. (H&S 11351) is $1,000,000. https://www.humboldt.courts.ca.gov/documents/humboldt/FelonyBailSchedule2016.pdf

Also, the DA could – and very well may have – file a motion with the Court requesting that the Court examine the source of bail funds before permitting the defendant to post bail that might be (almost certainly is) from illegitimate means (Penal Code section 1275.1).

As of February 4th there has been 150 people shot so far this year, and apparently thats 81 fewer people that were shot by the same time last year. I won’t point out their skin tone because it really doesn’t matter to me, but if I did I would be called racist none the less…

But no one is interested in reducing harm. Not to the community or the individual,

That would mean one must produce heroin here. I am all for that. It would create jobs. Produce our own extra high grade heroin, grown and manufactured right here in the US of A. And give it to the addicts at a premium price(that would be payed by MediCal of course). Then put them in a safe injection room and let them pump themselves full till they keel over. If we make it strong enough the problem should shoot itself up, er, out in a few years. No more addicts, no more market. Problem solved. Great idea.

Wild fires were caused by global warming.
Reducing fossil fuel use is the solution to global warming.
The fires were tragic for a thousand reasons, but th eir release of carbon is one more example of why we must act now to reduce fossil fuel use.
It’s called a feed back loop. It is a very dangerous symptom.

Medical care. If ten people spend $500 each on health insurance, and pay $100 to see the doctor once a year, that’s $6,000 spent on lousy health care.
And there’s the 20 people who had no insurance that drive the cost so high for the 10.
So if 30 people pay $200 each and have no copay, then Everyone has health care, and it’s more affordable for you.

The other place that a one payer system saves money is in billing.
In our system, every doctor has a billing clerk. In nationalized systems, ten doctors can share a single billing clerk.
Our insurance companies don’t want to pay, so they make billing really complex and hard
If restructuring the health care industry means insurance companies need to be non profit, I’m comfortable with that.

I would argue exactly the opposite. It’s my opinion that American has such a bad drug problem because of our wealth. There’s not many other countries in the world where somebody can sit around shooting heroin, drinking alcohol or doing methamphetamines all day and still receive a paycheck at the end of the month for doing absolutely nothing. Your own argument supports this theory. You say illegal aliens are coming here for job opportunities, which by your own definition means their countries have much poorer conditions then the United States. Yet they do not have the drug usage problem that we do. Why is that if the economy is the big factor. Could it be if South Americans sat around doing drugs all day they would end up starving to death or dying of exposure, because their government doesn’t take money from people that actually work for a living and give it to them so they can sit around and do drugs all day?

The 1% is owned by one family that runs a monopoly on every type of business in the world, especially the U.S. This includes utilities, railroads, media, and 3/4 of govt.
Taxing the 1% taxes the people. They raise the prices of their products to cover the costs. They control the stock market. Fortunately, some of their ‘contracts’ are running out and times are changing. The higher they are, the harder they fall.
Promoting taxing them is equal to promoting them.

We should charge the highest taxes on those who have nothing to really strike back at the corporate takeover of our lives?

https://news.yahoo.com/cuomo-announces-2-3-billion-230018445.html

The biggest problem comes not from the US tax code pandering to unearned income, which it does, but politicians pandering to voters who keep electing anyone who makes promises that look to offer them something for nothing while refusing to see that they will always be abused and used for that partisanship.

A populace that is self respecting and industrious creates more happiness for the most people while those seeking to drag down those doing the work leads to ever more failure of ever more people. Respect the ones who work and don’t exaggerate defending the ones who want what harms themselves and others.

Although I am not as prone as many to believing a fantasy, I can imagine a world where living an honest working life gets as much respect as a rich celebrity gets.

The Saudis just lured a journalist, Khaggoshi, from Virginia to his death, ignored by the new administration, Trump particularly more than others.

A lot of the border is the middle of the Rio Grande not to be racist but the phrase wet back came from some of the apps on Google show it switching from side to side on YouTube you could take a ride with somebody flying a plane over the Border the whole distance it doesn’t take long but it shows some of the Terrain that is involved some of it is almost impossible to build a wall in and a lot of it they say first they would have to build a road in and since the border is in the middle of the river it would be hard to keep a wall in the middle of the river and even off to one side a lot of it is in really steep gorges a lot of the cattle ranchers in different parts of the United States run their cattle in areas that will be cut off and inaccessible only to Mexico sure there are places where people are walking across long distances of desert a lot of them dying from heat stroke and dehydration and in these places it might make them spend $40 to buy a battery pack saw and possibly 20 minutes 2 cut through a slat lots of the places have chain link 10 to 15 feet some are monitored with balloons surveillance and other type of electronic devices some of the terrain is way more difficult to deal with than a wall but since they have vehicles that are better than anything that we have in the United States it could be difficult to keep them out of anywhere
The sherpa is a badass vehicle the new wave of smuggling immigrants across the border and what these new Hedgehog digging machines they’ll be able to dig a new tunnel in no time most of this is fantasy if they have that kind of money they would just get a Visa and be gladly welcomed into the United States for a Time some people say that they are smuggling a lot of the drugs with drones you’d have to be built a pretty big size wall to keep them out United States government has their hand in making a lot of the indigenous peoples of Central and South America have no place to live just like they did to the homeless here they’re stealing the way people make a living all over the world so build your wall and let the blood spill as we are attempting a coup in Venezuela right now even the government is admitting that they’re doing it so that United States oil companies can use that oil 4 times more oil than the Middle East setting on top of a giant Caldera of crude more blood for oil things haven’t changed in a while
