🕯Come on man, these people don’t need free looks at the zoo, even though it be a nice jester, they need car payments, rents, payments of any sort, food and some still have to go to work so gas money.

They needed to save up for an extended period of unemployment, like private sector employees are expected to do. “Free stuff for furloughed gov’t employees” is just cynical virtue signalling.

A calming walk on the beautiful grounds & a trip to the zoo for families is a very thoughtful gesture. Thank you Sequoia Zoo.

Wow. The zoo is run entirely by women. Now we know they are socialists (at the least). Give free things = happy comrades.

I bet they give their own fired workers a free kick in the ass. Gov’t employees still have jobs, for which they will get back pay when the furlough’s over. They can still use their health benefits, and are still accruing PTO. But, yeah, do whatever you can to improve their funemployment experience.

“Last week, House GOP voted to pay federal employees their 1st paycheck of 2019, despite shutdown. Only 6 Dems voted with us. It failed.” — Rep Dan Crenshaw

Come on people, man the phones and get those reps to get off the party beach and work something out. They’re playing politics with people’s lives here.

In the meantime, yes, they can file for unemployment benefits. They do need to pay it back after their payback checks arrive. https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/furlough-guidance/

Kudos to the zoo for providing families a free day to unwind, relax, and restore. If there’s a donation jar at the snack bar, I for one, will gladly chip in. Gotta have snacks when at the zoo!

What if the government workers are hungry from being out of work and view the animals as food?

Is security prepared for hungry mobs?

Hey, if you had to walk all day to get to the zoo because you can’t afford the gas, you’d be hungry, too.

So why just federal workers? Lots of other people get laid off or furloughed. Where do you draw the line?

Personally, I don’t think government employee should have to pay for Services provided by any government ran institution, nor should they have to pay taxes. The money that they are paid with comes from the government, which comes from taxes from the private sector or is Borrowed from the “Federal” Reserve with an interest payment. Government employees paying taxes is like paying a bill with a credit card, you might think you’re paying your bills but all you’re doing is incurring more interest that will have to be paid later. Before the shutdown the government was borrowing 1.5 million dollars every MINUTE to keep it open….

“Taxpayer” v. “Nontaxpayer”

“The taxpayer. That’s someone who works for the federal government but doesn’t have to take the civil service examination.” President Ronald W. Reagan

In assessing the legal effect of the 16th Amendment, the Supreme Court plainly said in 1916 that “the Sixteenth Amendment conferred no new power of taxation”.

Internal Revenue Scam (IRS).
