Keeping It Real in the Nicest Way Possible

This morning a fatal collision had Mark McKenna, our photographer, rushing to the accident scene. He had to park on the southbound side in order to reach the incident.

After he was on scene, he realized that no traffic would be let through for awhile so he was stuck. By the time he returned to his vehicle, the battery was dead. Anyone willing to rescue him either had to head south for several hours or resign themselves to being stuck in traffic for a long time.

This reporter posted a call for help on my Facebook page. A hero stepped forward to help. Katie Norris, a real person with a real life and real stresses, nevertheless saw our plea and drove on over. She gave Mark a jump. Then she had to turn around and drive back through the heavily impacted traffic to get past the accident.

Katie took about an hour out of her real life to help a stranger. She waved away thanks and acted like it was no big deal. “I simply did it because I know what it’s like to feel stranded in the middle of the highway,” she said.

Well, we think you are the kind of real community member we’re lucky to have around, Katie.

Thank you!

Oh.. and just to put this out there.. It is a cool philosophy in my book! One time I got my vehicle stuck on a very sparcly inhabited beach. I was kind of panicked… It was pouring down rain, dark..and there wasn’t anyone for a long time.. then out of no where.. this guy in a 4×4 Jeep showed up.. Seriously he was an Angel right then! He said he would help us.. with out compensation.. the only condition was.. that I help 3 people in return without compensation.. and ask them to do the same… thus creating a triangle of giving! It was really awesome.. he saved us that day! So.. when people are out there helping someone.. tell people about the triangle and spread the good karma far and wide❣️💓❣️💓😇🦋🌲🍀

Thanks Katie.
I also know what it is like to be stranded and have someone stop. Also to help someone in need on the road.

Way to go Katie. And thank you for posting it Kym. Good things happen here all the time, it’s a shame so many people (myself included)only choose to click on the dirty laundry.

There’s beauty all around us
The darkest nights have stars
Mere feet from cars tires and pedestrians shoes
Under the filth of our daily lives
Countless colorful gutter flowers
Still grow and bloom and survive.
One does not have to pick them
Or even stop and stare.
just smile with the warmth and comfort of knowing they’re always there..
