Kym,
Is there a more exact location? That could be anywhere northeast of Covelo. 10 miles or so. A witness might recognize some unnoticed bit of information if the location was more precise.

Whenever I pass a cyclist I check my rearview mirror to insure they are still ok. Things do happen when mirrors clip someone or even a gust of wind knocks them over. I would never flee a scene no matter at fault or not. The cyclists don’t have metal cages protecting them. Have respect for your fellow humans.

Wow! Gettin like oops, I’m outta here. These people don’t check to see if the guy’s alright, they check to see if anyone saw them hit and then punch it

This is exactly why I don`t ride a bicycle. I like bicycles and have a pretty good one. However, I`m not going to play chicken with people in cars.

I agree. There are other safer ways to get exercise. And there are too many impaired drivers in this area to allow your friends and family members to make themselves targets for local drunk hillbillies, mindless meth addicts, stoned stupid Mr. Magoos, etc. We all know where we live. Riding a bicycle on a public road is literally risking your life.

I’ve ridden on Eureka streets for many decades, and I have never collided with a car or truck during those years, with luck having very little to do with it and more towards having a high situational awareness of one’s surroundings.

One can ride on many public roads, but many public roads have been built with only automobile traffic in mind, but that is slowly changing.
