February Calfresh Benefits Issued Early Due to Shutdown, Says CDSS

This is a press release from the California Department of Social Services:

The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) [recently] announced that CalFresh nutrition assistance benefits for the month of February [were] issued early, to most client’s Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) accounts, on January 16, 2019. The early issuance of February benefits is necessary to access federal funds that no longer will be available as the federal government’s shutdown continues.

“We have a window of opportunity to ensure children and families across our state have the nutrition assistance they need for the month of February,” says Pat Leary, Acting Director. “We are asking everyone receiving CalFresh to please be aware that although benefits are being issued early, they should plan their food budget knowing these benefits will be the only benefits provided through the end of February.”

CalFresh recipients who are required to recertify in the month of January and complete their recertification after January 15, 2019, will have their benefits issued on or after February 1, 2019, if federal funds are available.

Individual and families who apply for benefits after January 15, 2019, will also have their February benefits issued on or after February 1, 2019, if federal funds are available.

CalFresh is the nation’s largest nutrition assistance program. It provides nearly 4 million individuals (one in ten Californians, including 2 million children) with food benefits each month. These federally funded benefits total approximately $515 million monthly. Individuals or families can apply for CalFresh benefits and CalWORKs cash aid at their local social service agency, or online at www.benefitscal.com. CalFresh recipients with questions regarding their case should contact their local county. A listing of all 58 county contacts is available on the CDSS website at www.cdss.ca.gov/County-Offices. The State is awaiting guidance from the federal government regarding the issuance of CalFresh benefits in the month of March.

What happens when the free extra money runs out? Will it automatically reload? I always wished someone added money to my atm card! And an early bonus to boot! Party time! The new middle class in california is the government benefit crowd! Housing, food, medical, if your in Hud paying your rent it’s closer to $50,000 a year I worked full time 25 years couldn’t afford to keep up with government entitlements!

Wow.. I will assume you were raised with both parents(same house) at least 1 if not both college graduates.
Most likely in a (white)middle class safe suburb with very little cultural or minority influences or than the average services positions.
So far all I can see is your a college graduate pissied becuase you were given every available opportunity to succeed and those who since birth recived mud and brown water to rinse off with – their needs become your cry for attention. Compassion-Understanding & Selflessness should not take 25 years to obtain.

My father was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2015. My mom passed away one year later. I live with my grandmother and I am in middle school. After school I take care of her, she’s 83! Should I quit school to work full time?? Maybe just not eat? Why did you write that reply? Did it make you feel you were better than me? I am dealing with a lot right now. Comments like yours make me sad.

Broken Phone Service. — Is anybody else located near the Garberville Airport without land line telephone service, it is now 2:30 PM and the phone is still dead. I called Frontier Communications and they said there is no time table for the phone to come back on line. Good Grief Charlie Brown, if your able, write back if you have the same problem or situation going on in your home. God Bless , Pat

Aside: some of us, you know who you are (“ . . . just a cozy group of truth tellers”), can only hope the courts close. Process servers sorta, kinda, a little bit, tend to, make me anxious.

The courts close. That will never happen, not even after every last penny is sucked out of society, because that would be when the real change would occur, by a society coarse – correcting away from an all-powerful gov agenda! The gov has heavily invested, and over decades to get society molded into where it is today!

There was a mighty nation,
blessed above all of creation,
it was a rare and precious pearl.
Conceived in faith and liberty,
home of the brave, land of the free,
it was the envy of the world.

But this shining city on a hill
has turned from the Creator’s will
and let evil take control
now the reckless men who lead them
want to strip away their freedom
and steal their very souls

Did they mean hundreds of 5/10 star ratings?

It sounds to me like you’re the one supporting fraud… again.

Instead of securing funds of the border wall while Republicans had control of both the House and Senate, Trump is holding the federal budget hostage by way of Mitch McConnell until the now-Democratic house agrees to sequester 5 billion dollars for it.

If that still doesn’t make any sense to you, you are right!

This is why. The constituents would rather blame the President instead of manning the phones to their reps to get them off the beach chair.
It’s closed because they (dems) refuse to sign a bill that they themselves wrote last year. They turned it down before the President announced it. They don’t want a barrier at all, would rather depend on hackable and power reliant electronic equipment.
They went and partied in Puerto Rico and Hawaii, while POTUS stayed at the WH waiting for them to work out a deal so he could get things moving along. When they refused to do that, he took the old bill from last year, added an extra year of DACA to extend it beyond his term in office, and they still wouldn’t budge. That’s why.
They wouldn’t even show up to vote for pay for the employees.

“Last week, House GOP voted to pay federal employees their 1st paycheck of 2019, despite shutdown. Only 6 Dems voted with us. It failed.” — Rep Dan Crenshaw

The Dems are right to create a precedent where federal employees paychecks can be held hostage for random political footballs. Trump masterminded the shutdown for an URGENT border wall, at a time when immigration is at its lowest in 10 years. If he had been serious about getting funding, WHY DIDN’T HE DO IT WHEN HE CONTROLLED CONGRESS?

Controlled? LOL. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Republicans_who_opposed_the_2016_Donald_Trump_presidential_campaign

Crime has dropped, in the 90% range, since they’ve (this admin) rebuilt the worst parts of the dilapidated fencing/barrier structure that preceded.
However, this hasn’t stopped the other areas of poor fencing/barriers used as last resort. Those areas still need to be built or rebuilt. Over 350 miles worth, if I’m recalling right.

The Dems also turned down the offer of installing 75 more immigration judges to help catch up the overflow of people waiting to take their oath to our Constitution.
80,000? I forget the numbers who are waiting, but it’s a ridiculous amount of people who have been waiting for years. They shouldn’t have to wait longer than a year or two.

They also turned down the offer of establishing refuge/amnesty stations in the countries who are escaping to come here.

They also turned down the 3 year extension workers visa.

They turned down a year extension on DACA.

Yet, every year they campaigned for a border barrier. Good fences make good neighbors. Using the gate makes great neighbors.

I do hope the gate will be 12 car lanes wide, but that’s just my own non feasible thoughts.

I don’t like the imagery of a ‘wall’, but I do respect the imagery of a fence/barrier/GATE.

The $ saved through better tariff deals and the like, are what’s paying for the barrier. So, yes, Mexico and the other countries are helping to pay for it.
I’m sure they want to keep the dastardly GOP out of their countries and there’s no better way to do that than with good fencing.

You already know this.
Have a nice day.

Crime has dropped 90% since Donald Trump was elected? Wow, that would be really impressive if it weren’t delusional Bullshit.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vox.com/platform/amp/2018/9/20/17882172/murder-crime-us-2018

It’s at about the same level it was under Obama and Bush II, about 4,000 crimes per 100,000 people per annum. The crime rates have been falling at about 2-3% per annum since the 90’s.

And out of how many?

And yes. Republicans had control of the ship for 2 years. Not gonna let you brush that aside.

I see here a “Wall” is very much present in the minds of some leftists, keeping out any and all thought from some conservatives concerned about the future of our country and the truth that the elite want to dilute the population with migrants to take civil liberties from the citizen. With the shutdown, it sure is funny how the dems care more about illegal migrants than federal workers, and the masses of poor on government aid. They are the new american casualty for the dems to get their power from illegal migration! They are throwing ALL americans under the bus, who in their right mind would defend this?

~some people are getting this all balled up and confused and someone has to take the initiative to say– whoa!

It is not about the Wall.

The people hurt by the shutdown have absolutely nothing to do with the wall; they don’t make policy, there is no way of knowing where any of them stand politically, they cover a range of beliefs, ages, geographic home districts, pay grades, viewpoints and skills. They are just convenient hostages. Trump/McConnell and their GOP enablers have simply grabbed almost a million innocent bystanders and are holding them at gunpoint. Realizing this exposes the GOPs callous indifference to human life, their paucity of reason, and their utter failure to do the jobs they were elected or hired to do.

Trump’s wall is a scam and the shutdown is a scam within a scam. If he can keep the shutdown going long enough, the people not getting paid will have to find other jobs that pay. Whenever the shutdown is over Congress will not replace people in the jobs that were quit, saying, “Well, we got along without people in those jobs just fine, so we don’t need them”, reducing the corporate governmental employees by however many of those 800,000 had to give it up to survive.

There are fortunately a lot of people who will be willing to bear a great deal of adversity from the shutdown so long as “the right people” are being hurt.

~ we have to push back on this nonsense.

Technically, isn’t Central Hum County somewhere in the middle of Jaymar Lane in Swain’s Flat? Just wondering, I lived out there years ago so happy to move… I went from a .25 acre where I hated my neighbors to a 4 acre where some new people moved and built a house right on top of my head! With kids screaming all day long!! I hate california I need at least 150 acres! Landsofamerica.com has a 260,000 acre ranch in montana maybe that’s what (we) need!

CH, they’ve been on notice to restructure since he began office. A few of the redundant depts were let go or merged into one, the first year. A clean up of non performance workers will be let go due to the policies which place performance as the #1 priority, which is a good thing. Nobody enjoys working with people who don’t do their work properly or on time, because it causes over work for those who do take their work and jobs seriously. That’s a no brainer to prioritize the non performers out of the work force.

As far as it being a scam? That’s a far stretch, imo. Potus has negotiated and compromised on every point, except for o n e. Just one. If he compromises that, he will have not compromised at all, he will have given in to the people who are holding the country hostage over o n e point.

Included in the deal was also electronic defense at ports and borders, but those rely on apps that can be hacked and on power that can be under black out at any given moment. This would leave our other Federal Workers who are just people, vulnerable to violence again.

It’s not a ‘wall’, it’s a barrier. It will have gates and see through slats.
It will slow the ‘invasions’ so that people can be processed through and enjoy their stay. With 75 additional judges to swear people in, and the clerks and computers, doctors and educators, things will go much faster and easier.

If the ‘sanctuary’ people have to run for their lives (fire, earthquake, war, whatever), they’ll have to live in fear wherever else they go. But when properly processed, they can live without fear wherever they settle across America. They can find jobs and homes anywhere USA. Renewing will be faster due to the backup log becoming lessened or diminished.

Every candidate for the past decades have run on the promise of fixing the immigration system and building a secure barrier. Yet, very little is ever done, if anything at all.
POTUS aims to end the rhetoric. He’s an action guy.

While it’s probably true that eventually all the depts that are considered unconstitutional by most will be restructured and merged if not abolished, it’s also true that this also happens in civilian life. Look around. People everywhere lost their jobs, homes, businesses, over the decades. Now they’re bouncing back in other states, and doing quite well thanks to the tax breaks and incentives. The people are getting their own power back. They’re not relying on the govt grants, govt jobs, govt handouts, govt anything except govt getting the hell out of their way. You call it a scam? That’s your right to think your own thoughts that are true to you and I respect you enough to put them in the back of my mind in my cynical folder (I don’t trust ANY politician or agenda), so that I won’t be in shock if your scenario turns out to be true. Until then, I’ll stay positive (but cautious as usual) and that’s my right. I hope we can agree to disagree and still respect each other’s views.

” With 75 additional judges to swear people in . . . ” If you’re still hovering in the land of make believe, you better question your beliefs on this. No oath and/or bond recorded into the public to cover lie-ability = vacant office. You would be hard-pressed to find a bona fide judge.

“If the ‘sanctuary’ people . . . ” The word sanctuary refers to a place, more specifically, and generally, a church. ‘Sanctuary’ County is an oxymoron.

” The people are ‘getting’ their own power back.” Power always remains w/the people – most do not know who they are because they’re clueless when it comes to the Supreme Law of the Land. If they’re drug into so-called court -they have left the land, have no idea where they are, and may as well as be on Mars. It’s all about claiming your sovereign rights. No Government or @System@ gives you those rights. They must be claimed and accepted on a daily basis by you, personally.

” I hope we can agree to disagree and still respect each other’s views ” – yes, of course. I don’t mean to come across as negative on this wall/shutdown subject. The outcome remains to be seen.

Broken (American) promises began on the ‘res-ervation’ ‘res-idence’ in South Dakota. The word domicile serves us -residence does not. Live, instead of reside. We believe, think, and act within a dead language of the corporations (root -corpse) that mushroomed up around us when we weren’t paying attention, and education on the constitution was deleted in the classrooms.

~we are not experiencing a financial crises, per se, but more correct – a crisis of criminality. On our side of the pond, it’s called “legal’ plunder. “To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves in and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.” “The right of self-government does not comprehend the government of others.” “My God! How little do my country-men know what precious blessings they are in possession of, and which no other people on earth enjoy.” Thomas Jefferson.

I wish I can get ebt. I have 2 kids, pregnant, am a full time employee working 40+ hours. I don’t qualify for government aid. I have a mortgage and ontop of that, I am a part time student. But I will work harder to make my kids’ life better. Not saying that people on it, aren’t.

I just wish some would not always rely on it or abuse it.
I wish some will understand that it is a temporary privilege to get assistance and hopefully learn to grow out of it.
For those that really need it: foster, orphans, disabled, elderly, working families with kids etc. I pray for you and thank god there are programs such as this to help feed you.

A couple in front of me at the store was gawking that they just received a bonus from ebt/snap so they had to get 3 cart full of food. How do one ever receive a bonus? Anyways please make people understand that this is a February benefit and definetly not a bonus.
