Ukiah’s Women’s March Attendee’s Asked to Wear Red to Bring Attention to Missing/Murdered Indigenous Women
The Ukiah Women’s March will take place on Saturday, January 19th, starting at 11am at Alex Thomas Plaza in Downtown Ukiah. There will be a lively gathering with women speakers and local musicians, hosted in English and Spanish.
This will be followed by a march to the Ukiah Civic Center and a short rally featuring local elected women.
The first Women’s March in 2017 was a historic mass response to the election of Donald Trump. In the two years since, the worst fears of a Trump presidency have come to pass. The Nation is currently stuck in the longest ever Federal government shutdown; the administration has released an onslaught of racist, anti-woman, and anti-environmental policies; and news broke this week that President was investigated by the FBI as a Russian Asset. While many wonder how we will ever get out of this mess, The Women’s March is continuing to lead the resistance!
Women in the US are a diverse group with a wide variety of life experiences and challenges. In Ukiah, the Women’s March will include women in our community who face the worst brunt of Trump’s racist and anti-woman policies. Speakers will highlight Trump’s inhumane immigration policies and encourage people to join local efforts to help stop ICE and family separation. March attendees are asked to wear red to support the MMIW movement, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.
Across the country and locally, Indigenous women face an epidemic of murder and disappearance. MMIW draws attention to this tragedy and calls for it to end. The Ukiah Women’s March will support and try to amplify their important message.
2018 was a historic year for Democrats, as the midterm elections saw unprecedented numbers of women elected at all levels of government. The end of the March will feature short speeches by local women who won elections this year, including newly elected County Assessor, County Clerk, Recorder Katrina Bartolomie, Mo Mulheren the Mayor of Ukiah, Madge Strong the Mayor of Willits, and Debra Ramirez the Tribal Chairwoman of the Redwood Valley Band of Pomo.
The Ukiah 2019 Women’s March is sponsored by the Inland Mendocino Democrat Club and the Mendocino Environmental Center.

🕯More power to all humans no matter of sex or color. 🖖
Without the proper principles peace cannot be. The art of Peace ensures that you win without a fight. War is not for Peace war is a crying shame. Peace is the practice of making something sacred. And sometimes hard to see
From the article;
” Women’s March will include women in our community who face the worst brunt of Trump’s racist and anti-woman policies”
Really, and precisely what policies are you talking about????

Keep in mind:
Evangelical women support Trump “because it’s what we’ve been socialised to do”, says Quintero – this means “placing your own well-being below the idea of stopping abortion”.
Many don’t like the way the president talks about women but support his conservative policies, she says.
She draws on her own experience as an evangelical Christian to help unravel the mystery. As a child, she says, she was taught church lessons such as: “My body does not belong to me.”
It “belonged first of all to my father”, she says. “When I was married, it would be given to my husband.”
Support for the president among women in their demographic group dropped from 73% to 67% from 2017 to 2018, according to Pew Research Center (in data they have yet to publish). Support for the president among white evangelical men dropped too, from 84-79%

But I’m not a woman, so I’m sure you’ll get more feedback.
No Brian not opinions, policies as the article states. An opinion from Planned Parenthood, or the Guardian, is not policy.
There are policies outlined in the Planned Parenthood article.
The Guardian is simply quotes from a misogynist, Trump, which is framing the frustration in with context.
The BBC article is why many women might not even be speaking.
But, no, he is not rounding up women through policy to ____ them. He generally seems to rely on monetary bribes for that.

X/0: Deep down in the gut, and without emotion or feelings getting involved, just based on observation and listening, one can know that someone is a scumbag without having to see stats, or written policies. The supporters of that scumbag are ignorant scumbags.
It’s so easy to see.
The amount of stretching that some commentors go through to defend him or play a devil’s advocate position would impress Richard Simmons.
That is the epitome of what makes an online liberal- that their own emotions are the same as facts. It is impossible to reason with emotions. If dragged kicking and screaming to a point where even they can not say their ideas are rational, they deliver what they consider the death blow to their opponents- they announce that it ought to be so.

If it’s blaming trump, than it’s a march of anger. Plain n simple.
In North Korea, the people march in support of their supreme leader.
Is that what you’re waiting for?
If you don’t support these women, fine.

“Grumpy Trumpy” ??? What are you? – 6 years old?
No, I’m just better than Trump in so many ways.
Including being a prick name caller!
It tickles me pink you Trump supporters never call him out for his bullying punk ass remarks, but as soon as I do, waaaahhhh goes the babies!
***Other answer:
No, I’m a stable genious, obviously!
Yes, you’re clearly a “genious”.
~lmao.
Is the irony lost on you in that?
Forrest? (Twice)
But actually I type on a small phone with big hands and a functional auto-miscorrect.
Ultimately, I’m laughing too, it’s frikin awesome!
~really? I’m sorry i replied.
‘interesting concept’ is not even close to a belief, an opinion, a statement, or a fact –
Over & out.
See, you had already shown you didn’t care to research simple facts .
You promote fear and hysteria through bullshit.
You promote a flat Earthers’ laser bullshit and think your not going to get called out?
You did state your position.
That’s why I asked you what I did, in the manner I did.
And you answered, like I knew you would!
miscorrect
for rest
“For an hour I was afraid for his mind”.
The fact that [edit] thinks the earth is flat says to me, he’s not comfortable with knowledge in general.
I’ve been endlessly debating kids who think Trumps dumb Shutdown only means a “gaggle of bureaucrats” are not working, among other wild ideas. The general knowledge level just isn’t being set high by a good group of ya.
So the fact that someone found a punctuation fuck or misspelling quack just don’t bother me at all.
I’m laughing cause it’s so funny how it worked in many ways.
~and i’m really laughing because you continue to refer to me as of the male gender.
Rather than put words, and gender, ideologies on me, cough up the facts Brian b u d d y – “quote for quote” where i stated a belief, a preference, a researched link or two, regarding flat earth.

It was just 2 weeks ago!
I said to you:
“You repost videos from Aplanetruth
He advocates the Earth is flat.
Do you think he has proved the Earth is flat?”
To which you said:
“I think it’s an interesting concept”
———–
Of course that was after busting your lies about “no supertanker”, death counts numbers, and population levels at the Camp Fire.
And you never admitted how wrong you were on any of it.
So I’m so glad you asked the question – that allowed me to print this answer.
As a reminder for you and others.
1. Brian is fear mongering the “trumpapocalypse” yet can provide no facts to support the hysteria .
2. Brian then diverts to flat earth.
3. Brian speaks for women but is proudly ignorant of the human trafficking and sex slavery across our southern border
ICE apprehends sex predators and criminal gangs trafficking women and children, including children smuggled in to gain amnesty.
Check it out
https://www.ice.gov/news/top-stories
Undocumented women & children are at high risk for exploitation over the border, I know from personal experience.
Maybe Brian prefers to let whoever in with minors they can’t prove are even in their legal custody….
I would rather build the WALL and vet everyone so that we don’t enable & inventivize child smuggling and sex slavery.
Actual crimes against women, ya know? Instead of Brian’s made up fear mongering about “policies”.
Brian promotes abortion “for women” but probably doesn’t care that having an abortion increases the woman’s risk of breast cancer and other health problems.
Brian devalues 70% of American Women who value life and fertility as “socially conditioned by religion”… even though many are Ecologists and pro life for deeper reasons than “religion”
It’s likely Brian has a very low regard for women.
“Women who support Trump are just told what to do,” -speaks volumes about how Brian sees Women!
Brian can’t accept that women who have different opinions are actually capable of thinking.
In Brian’s mind people who disagree with him politically are not decent people. They are either very stupid and inferior, or just evil. There is no room for debate in his so-called “progressive” authoritarian worldview.
Isabel sums things up perfectly.
Isabelle,
Did you come from Humcos flat earth forums too?
Havnt seen your comments before.
Welcome to the party.
It seems you dont know enough about me through comments, so I’ll sum it up:
Flat earthers are idiots. Humco is a flat earther. Do you subscribe to Aplanetruth too?
If not, id love to chat.
Also, you missed everything I posted links to.
Your opinions about how how important the wall is are fine with me, youre just wrong in general. Im okay with it.
You’re also wrong about Abortions and Birth Control.
http://stopcancerfund.org/p-breast-cancer/does-abortion-cause-breast-cancer/
Your also wrong about….ah, nevermind, you Shak and HumCo don’t care.
Well written diatribes don’t impress me as much as good points coupled with some facts.
You are way off with both.
If you don’t share the view of other women that’s fine.
Some women love Trump naturally. Others were paid to. Others were paid to forget and shut up. Many dont understand how to think freely. This was the point of the BBC article.
You got no links. You condensed my replies and comments to numerous soundbytes that when reviewed, just don’t hold up.
“70%”? WTF?
I could go on, but I’ve done enough and something tells me you aren’t coming back.
Kym,
I dont know if you’re willing to say.
But I almost want to bet, and likely lose money, that the Isabel commentor created an account yesterday, and this is their first comment.
Would you tell me I’m wrong if I am please?
Oh please, a gaggle of bureaucrats off for a month will have about as much effect as a flea fart in a tornado on our economy.
I think you’ve already got “Comment of the year”!
Speaking of you and years…
https://www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2019/1/9/18174631/old-people-fake-news-facebook-share-nyu-princeton
People older than 65 share the most fake news, a new study finds
Kids share a lot of fake news too. They’ll believe anything they read and share it two thousand times on social media.
I agree.
But I’m guessing that HumCo ain’t in the under 30 bracket.
Wow.
That shows how much you know.
The “gaggle of bureaucrats ” are getting paid. They are not “off”.
It’s hundreds of thousands of people not getting paid for work they’re doing that has an effect, bud.
It’s business not able to sell and market products, too, bud.
It’s taking from our prescribed fire burns, right now, bud.
Get with it, bud.
Rubbish, they get every dime of back-pay. By the way, I’m not your “bud”. Did you actually use the two words bureaucrat and work in the same sentence. Now that’s funny.
~bud ain’t bad. As Kym says, its the hate behind it.
You clearly don’t understand the facts of the situation, nor the reality of working with no pay, not-bud.
That’s a bold assumption, seeing as how the shutdown could last MONTHS according to Trump.
Trump signs bill that provides back pay. https://www.ntd.com/trump-signs-bill-giving-federal-workers-back-pay_277462.html
Trump warns everyone to prepare for come what may. https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/presidential-proclamation-national-preparedness-month-2018/
The Coast Guard is a gaggle of bureaucrats?
Customs and Border Control is a gaggle of Bureaucrats?
There are others as well, that are working without having an income. The “funny” thing is, these are the agencies that do actual “border security”. There is 12,383 miles of coastline in the US. And over 5000 miles of border with Canada. But screw those people right? Because Trump and his fans are beyond redemption about this near mythic “Wall”.
I just donated a couple of hundred bucks I really don’t have to spare so our local Coast Guard can feed their kids, drive to work, etc. I’m not the only one in town here.
Dismissing federal workers as a “gaggle of bureaucrats” is lazy and showing some signs of ignorance.
That was up to congress. The govt site isn’t updated during a shut down, but I hope it was/is being resolved.
“Nearly 57,000 U.S. Coast Guard members and civilian employees could face furlough without pay if Congress fails to pass a stop-gap spending bill that would keep portions of the government running until Feb. 8.”

LOL, yes, I’ve seen the memes that were created from that quote.
Wow you are disconnected from reality. It’s just like the lock her up chants. Guess who’s getting locked up? Trump’s best people! His campaign manager was sharing polling data with a hostile foreign country. And we are supposed to believe he didn’t know? Wake up.
Shak, but that is moot.
Why should this happen?
Nobody argues against border security.
Portions of walls have been funded by both sides of the aisle.
Technology, as opposed to walls, are promoted in many geographically hard areas by both sides as well.
The walls are nothing special anyway, as people go under, over and through anyway.
The point is that the shutdown is unneccesary for everbody except one idiots ego complex.
Why aren’t you guys seeing the obvious?
*Oh, and instead of “Mexico paying” for it, now hundreds of thousands of joes and janes spent the holidays and first month of new year with no money. And for how long?
And in the meantime, furloughed employees can go to the Vegetarian based Amy’s kitchen drive through for a free burger and 50%off.
Guess what the workforce is made up of? Brown skinned non-rapists!
The silence is deafening.
Shak, man up and respond.
All speech against Glorious Leader is hate speech.
And if you get caught you could get thrown in prison for treason no more freedom of the press and no more freedom of speech the trumpocracy now that our government is taken over by corporate greed and the War Machine government that keeps us in fear be a good peon indentured to servitude today I went to the grocery store and was happy that I could buy food to get me through for a while the way that a lot of the government have been running on debt borrowed time where do our taxes go just more extortion nothing to see here they are a den of Thieves they supposed to be taking care of We the People and the planet we live on instead I could see the markets running dry the American dream been a highway to disaster we are in runaway climate we will be making it through year by year now so people get your stuff together everybody should be growing food in their yard in your spare time doesn’t take a whole lot to get us through but we got to do the right thing grow food and take care of each other not get distracted bye stupid governments and stupidness
if the people lead the government will follow
~it was repeatedly said that the Constitution was written for a moral and righteous people and wholly inadequate for any other. The original laws of this nation have not changed.
The degree of liberty or tyranny in any government is, it follows, in large degree a reflection of the relative determination of the subjects to be free and their willingness and ability to resist efforts to enslave them. -Blackstone Commentaries
It is mostly the women that need to pull us through once they get their heart set on something they can make it happen thanks everybody
Joe Dirt,
~that’s the sweetest. The love frequency communication.
That’s precisely what it is. We hate Trump organized hysteria.
Please, tell us about your marching experiences in North Carolina.
I know, there was “good people” on both sides, surely you were one?
Trying to block reproductive rights, just for a start. How can you even ask? It’s like you pay no attention😠
What policy did Trump initiate that blocks any woman’s “reproductive rights”. Was it an executive order? What bill did he sign?
Really? What about the Un-Indigenous Woman? 😉
Indigenous women suffer a far greater amount of abuse and murder than non indigenous, and have fewer resources for dealing with it. Do you live in a cone of zero information? Or just willfully ignorant?
Sources please.
I found this, is this close?
“Almost half (47.5%) of American Indian/Alaska Native women, 45.1% of non-Hispanic Black women, 37.3% of non-Hispanic White women, 34.4% of Hispanic women, and 18.3% of Asian-Pacific Islander women experience contact sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime. (CDC, 2017)”
https://www.safehorizon.org/get-informed/domestic-violence-statistics-facts/#statistics-and-facts/
I am like the others who feel that all women should be empowered and/or protected and supported. Are you?
The Swedes are replacing their hats with yellow vests and are now marching for all women. They wish no harm on anyone either, regardless of political status or ethnicity. https://voiceofeurope.com/2018/12/revolutionary-europe-swedish-yellow-vests-unite-in-protest-against-un-migration-pact-and-political-elite/
~from your above link, shak;
Swedish female Yellow Vest speaker: “Put feminism on hold for 10-20 years and reinstate the patriarchy” 14 January 2019.
Of course if it were to be an ‘archy’, i wouldn’t betray my sister-hood.
Good catch CH! I obviously didn’t catch that part, while skimming too fast.
The rest is good thought though. United for all women, no matter their stats in life.
Not to lessen the wo/man who does both jobs, wears two or more hats.
~well, ya!
And, it goes without saying, the Un-Indigenous (Un-Origines) males too.
Ummmmm than blam Andrew Jackson, that would make a little more sense than blaming trump for Native American atrocities! Don’t you think? PS. President Trump put more women into office and power of position in 1 year than Obama did in his whole 2 term election. Trumps personal secretary is a African American woman. Yeah, let’s hate on him because he grabbed some coochie. And Mr Bill? I didn’t see woman marching in anger because of….. well…. you know! Lol
President Trump’s personal secretary is a White lady named Madeleine Westerhout.
Rhona Graff was his assistant in his business, for years. Again, not African-American.
🕯Go back to the dark room and leave me alone.
I shared this story on the Eureka’s Women’s March page and there is much support, more than 40 likes, so please know that some in Eureka will be wearing red and supporting your efforts to bring some attention to this.
Then the theme is Trump is allowing the brutalization of indigenous women, among others. The murdered, missing, abused, women date back decades, and at the hands of, now, this is going to get me banned, at the hands of their own socioeconomic ethnic groups. GASP! But it’s easier to blame the current president, instead of looking at the person sitting next to you.
