no willie, no bail or O.R. for flight risks. this is why you never run from the authorities. once you run then you stay locked up until your trial is over, even if you are innocent of the charge. you have the right to a quick and speedy trial within 30 days

btw willie i am willing to explain it to you on the weather thread, connie unbanned you

really? yea really. first of almost all of sohum could have been in jail in the 80s either for cultivation or for benefiting economically from the market (conspiracy,) but they only caught a percentage of everyone.
second, the national poverty rate since the 2008 boondoggle has skyrocketed and statistically poverty feeds crime llike a fertilizer.

so yea, really really really

” . . .cultivation or for benefiting economically from the market (conspiracy,) . . .”

HOLD UP their Pacos Bill, YOU, ernestine, are not Webster. The word is: CONS PIRACY – on the sea of commerce, under the Sea Merchant Law – ‘guilty until proven innocent.’ It turns the law of the land on it’s head.

RIGHT TO ASSERT STANDING

Hale v. Henkel, 201 U.S. 43, 74, 26 S.Ct. 370, 50 L.Ed. 652 (1906)
(The individual may stand upon his constitutional rights as a citizen. He is entitled to carry on his own business in his own way. His power to contract is unlimited. He owes no duty to the state or to his neighbors to divulge his business, or to open his doors to an investigation, so far as it may tend to incriminate him. He owes no such duty to the state, since he receives nothing therefrom, beyond the protection of his life and property. His rights are such as existed by the law of the land long antecedent to the organization of the state, and can only be taken from him by due process of law, and in accordance with the Constitution. Among his rights are a refusal to incriminate himself, and the immunity of himself and his property from arrest or seizure except under a warrant of law. He owes nothing to the public so long as he does not trespass upon their rights. On the other hand, the corporation is a creature of the state. It is presumed to be incorporated for the benefit of the public. It receives certain special privileges and franchises, and holds them subject to the laws of the state and the limitations of its charter. Its powers are limited by law. It can make no contract not authorized by its charter. Its rights to act as a corporation are only preserved to it so long as it obeys the laws of its creation. There is a reserved right in the legislature to investigate its contracts and find out whether it has exceeded its power.) aff’d. Wilson v. United States, 221 U.S. 361, 31 S.Ct. 538, 55 L.Ed. 771 (1911).

There is not more poverty in the US than there was even 60 years ago. What has changed is that poverty is being continually redefined so that it includes more and more. And hundreds of non profits to make noise about it. A little perspective might improve the picture.

Almost everything, from education to food, has been made more available to more people than ever before in history. What has lessened is the hidden poverty. There were always people who were ill, hungry, living rough. But there were institutions to hide the mentally ill, less populated places to camp out to hide from the vagrancy laws, derelict building where drug addicts ended their lives without report, mothers scrapping together just enough food for their children quietly lest social services took custody away, old people freezing in basements, etc.

There were always good times and bad but, if you think these are really bad times, you need to look up. Much of the ills in the US, unlike the places where war or disease runs over people like a steamroller where poverty is not having less but a real risk of not having anything at all, are created by their own sense of entitlement.

So not really, not really at all.

The U.S. Supreme Court struck down California’s anti-Okie law, which made it a crime to bring anyone indigent into the state, in 1941. … As the crisis worsened in California — 22% of America’s homeless population now lives in the state — cities have piled on more and more vagrancy laws.

Disgusting Supervisors; You vocalize an important reason for the existence of the Homeless camps off the 101 Sprowel Creek exit. Plus additional locations around Garberville and Redway. PROVERTY.
It needs to be addressed at local community, county, region and state levels.
In light of our local Humboldt County Board of Supervisors giving themselves a $10K per year raise I think our county needs to look inward to start to resolve local our issues more seriously. I can think of some serious County wide issues $50 – &70K I would surely like to see those funds allotted to address.

I known Jordon almost his whole life I haven’t seen him lately hes not the most savory character but he not dangerous as some people who have been around town lately I agree it’s a waste of resources that could be used to deal with the more dangerous street people.
